Yeah it was nice and thought that reflected what you were saying.
Looking at the 2nd one I linked above Alps track seems to take approx 35 seconds to load.

* One pet hate with GT5 was the very jagged shadows and thankfully this seems much much better in that respect also.

Here is the last one I missed sorry...

Thank you for the updates on videos. Are there any direct feed captures, maybe from E3? I couldnt find anything yet.

OT: Everytime I see your username I have to grin a bit. It is just that "Latte" does mean something different in German than in Italian.

You know, this might just be me, but now that the first public day of Gamescom is over (at least here in Germany ), I'm kinda suprised that T10 haven't released any major new information. They might still have something up their sleeve, but still. I kinda expected a wee bit more... At least a fistfull of new cars to be shown to us by now :indiff:

Hi Jabofu,
Thanks for such interesting review and feedback on your first session at gamecon. You really make me so excited and pray hard my frozen xbox dont RLOD when i on it in OCT hahah....I am quite a strong supporter for GT5, the only racing games i played... SO when i played Forza3 on controller, of course it dont feel simulation enough...Hence i went back to GTP and GT5 purely and still having abundance of fun. Now with your review I beginning to look forward to Forza4. So far when i see the preview, graphic no doubt win GT5, especially for scenary as this really added to the fun part..

I really pay attention to guys like you who played all kinds of sim racing games and even have real life fast driving experience...Hence your review should be quite accurate and i respect you for that. Now I always read physics realism and suspension feel no game can match IRACING...Do you feel Forza4 is the console racing game that can come very near to that of Iracing one? Thanks for your awsome posts here. Cheers.

Some cars and tracks in GT5 may have been build with a slightly higher quality and provide more details, but the overall presentation while gameplay might be step above GT5. You cant compare camera footage captured from show tvs to the actual game thats running in your console, that was also the case with the GT5 E3 clips. For a better understanding how FM 4 graphics look, you should try this gamersyde video.

When you talk about Iracing, which I have played round about 6-7 month with breaks, the FM 4 physics remind me strongly how IRacing performed. In Iracing your driving line was some of the most important keys to be fast and also the braking was very very tricky, so you had to be very consistand and awake. The same applies to FM 4, there is the same understeer, when you go to fast in the corner or using the absolutely wrong line through it. On the other hand FM 4 feels more dynamic and still different.

Another thing are elevations or corner connections that change the angle or altitute of the track, which will destabilise your car, so you have to control the push of the forces and loss of grip while the lateral g are keeping to push the the car away. So in FM 3 or GT5 you go into an corner really fast and have the power to slow down mid corner to not lose it, but in FM 4 this will be more like Iracing where you sit in the gras after such action. It is really hard to describe something you have to feel.

So I would say that FM 4 goes more the direction of Iracing than GT5. But I would not say that Iracing, GT and Forza have the physics perfect now. When I would give a percentage for gain of full simulation I would give FM 3 82 %, GT5 85 %, FM 4 90 % and Iracing 93 %.

Hi Jabofu,
Thanks for your ultra fast reply. It is really what I need to know and very clear and straight to the point. Thanks. I envy you with so vast experience in SIM racing, Will pm you to chit chat more. Do continue to post more of your feedback.

As of now I notice the big difference is that Forza4 colors don't look as cartonish coloring as Forza3 already and of course much more detailed. But when i see the external rear view of cars in reply and that the smoke coming out and car sliding abit in high speed turn, seems a bit floaty and not realistic...Just a personal perception and of course only folks like you who had real handson experience will know it is not floaty. Thanks again. So looking forward to OCT.

The view from behind in FM 3 + 4 lets you see the cars movement. In GT the camera is fixed to the car and you see absolutely not movement or "floaty" behavior. I am also not a sim-pro, just that I played nearly all the big names doesnt make me an absolut expert. I stay with GT and FM because I want to experience street and race cars in lively locations and both titles doesnt have to hide physics whise behind the pc titles.

As is said, the camera in FM is more active in the behind the car view and that let you faster see what the car is doing. A real car can feel a bit floaty too in real, because you are not screwed into the seat and the car is working on the suspension and tyres.

Yes guys Im quite "UP" on other countries slang references for "Latte".
Thanks for bringing it "UP" again.

Back to FM4 if we may...
Lets not get too carried away on physics and handling from only a few short goes particulary a go on the triple screen, motion sim. That is bound to impress just about everyone on the short time they are on it. If we think back to ISR reporting on E3/2009 @ FM3 "Darin" made reference to its handling being like PC sims.

So certainly for me Im williing to throw a bit of caution on how good the improvement in FM4 really is. Whats great is that it is improved of course but I do not expect as much challenge in its driving or realisim as the best PC sims.

The game is very challenging. I said that many people spun and crashed the Subaru, even with aids. In GT5 and FM3 you can throw this car around without any danger. It is definetly on the tail of Iracing, but not because they looked at Iracing, but I think they improved on physics and made they right choices with the pirelli partnership.

Those screens look exactly the same as GT5. So, finally FM will have its photorealistic moments. Unlike FM3 where getting something like this is simply impossible no matter how hard you try.👍

Surprised no one picked up on the new mode Dan mentioned. Unless they have and I've missed it somewhere.

Demolition derby. Whilst not my cup of tea is confirmed.
Why it could be argued that demolition derby happens anyway lol, this version is dedicated to it and you will be scored by it.

I'm not too bothered but as dan says. He's not building it for me. Lol.

Might help the rammers find a release for there pent up emotions.

Destruction Derby mode sounds up my street and I'm not an online rammer in races. I loved that series of games. TGTT figure-of-8 should be a popular locale for it.

I wish they would detail the photomode mode. I pray to god it's not gimped like the FM3 photo upload compression we have now.

What was that DD mode called, "keep it clean" or something? That made me smile. Like it's a reference to your typical online race: "OK, let's keep it clean everyone!" *turn one pileup*

Hey Jabofu, how playable do you think this game could be with a controller with all aids turned off? I know it's not going to be as fast, but I don't have the money for a GT2, and I'm probably going to pick the CSR up.

Just a quick question on the CSR to anyone. Does the CSR have the sensor on the wheel much like the CSR Elite, or is it only for the Elite?

Right, so that when you do crash and spin with Aids on, you can blame it on Pirelli. T10 did an awesome job with the physics. They can't help it if Pirelli tires suck...just kidding, Pirelli. :P

I just hope they've got as many (or better yet, eben more) different tyre compounds available than GT5. In my opinion, that's one very important thing... Even if a car's completely off, you can just tune it to put up reasonably realistic lap times by throwing different tyres on in GT5. Would be nice if Forza 4 allowed us to do the same.

"Hey, my 599 GTO is way too grippy!"
"Put the Walmart tyres on, they're the most realistic!"

I heard from other peoples feedback that the new physics also make a huge difference for controller players. I would say that you will have also a great time with the controller, but it is not the same experience as a wheel.

I am sorry to inform you, but the CSR wheels will be priced slightly higher than the GT2.

Yeah, but by the time they come out, I probably will have a lot more cash saved up.

Good news though for the controller. I can't wait to play this game.

Did you happen to notice if the penalty system has changed or been improved?

There was still the little triangle left to the time that showed up, when you went off the track or hit a wall or a car. I am not sure if they stopped to punish you for driving in the slipstream. But it was definetly there.

From forzamotorsport.net:
Over the next couple of days we’ll be filling out the Cars section with the cars we’ve announced so far and, from now until launch, look for new cars added to the list each week day!

So, it sounds like, by Monday the Cars section will be all flushed out.

Only with the ones they've already announced. It's about seven weeks 'til launch, so that's another 35 cars to follow, or 49 if it means every day.

Hmm I never have seen this car in GT5?? So you have played the game at gamescom?

The images look really good, similar as GT5, never thought that the x360 can handle this but we will see how it will look ingame or inrace...

Did you somehow read over the part about the car in reference being a Subaru and not the DBR1?

Oh ok I thought he meaned the DBR1... Anyway I think the GT5 physics are outstanding, we will see if the FM4 physics feel different...

After seeing that tripple TV setup, holy cow how can I ever play any racing game anymore on one screen, looks amazing...
