I dont play COD.

I dont play COD.

Oh. Well FM4 will be the first Forza game I will be playing online but from what I know of hoppers it's a matchmaking system that throws you into races so you don't spend time looking for one.

If I am incorrect someone please correct me. I only played FM2 and 3 offline so I am probably wrong.

Yes, it has a matchmaking system similar to COD. There are playlists with a variety of game types that identify how many individuals are playing at the time of the search. However, if there are not very many people online you could find yourself waiting for awhile until there are enough to start the race. Fortunately, you can set up a private online lobby that will also yield credits and xp upon completion. Also, there is a vote to kick feature in the lobby which comes in extremely handy.

Are you talking about FM3?

"Hoppers" is a stupid backwards term used to describe playlists.

Essentially you chose the playlist you want (In Forza something like A class circuit or R3 oval etc) and it find puts you into a game with those restrictions. This lobbies are essentially ran by the majority. So if you don't want LB car racing and more than half of the players are racing LB cars you will either have to race with them or get kicked and vice versa.

Yes.

The only changes that I am aware of to the FM4 matchmaking service is new playlists and user created public lobbies.

Thanks for the recent linked Q/A with Dan.

For me, he really seems to of toned down his own presentation to be more relaxed and his ability in interviews compared to things he would say in the past on previous Forza titles.

I picked up the first confirmation I know of that 3D is not supported.

"Q: Are you supporting 3D?

DG: No.

Q: Do you want to support 3D?

DG: I think if it was a broadly adopted technology, I'd would be personally more interested in it, but as far as the vision we have for the title in getting people excited about cars – I actually found that the 3D effect that comes from Auto Vista where you are moving and going towards the car without having any glasses and still being able to turn my head to both sides. I actually found that was what I was most excited about. So I'm not trashing 3D; I think 3D's great. It's just, when you're going towards a certain goal, going towards certain customers, you have to think about what sort of hardware they have, and what sort of experience and vision you want to deliver to them."

Personally as some know I would of liked a 3D option if not in the games actual racing at least for Auto Vista. It may not be broadly adopted but prices this year for the technology have vastly reduced. In the UK a 50" 3DTV was £1400+ last year. This year they are available for less than half that so chances are in the next couple of years many large screen TVs will have the technology even if the user may not necessarily want to pay much for it.

I wonder how good 2D-3D conversion was with FM3, anyone have a 3D display that does that?

That was a really crappy interview. Nothing at all was revealed about Forza 4 and the questions were really boring.

I find it rather interesting to look at his developer mindset. And compare his optimisim with Kaz's "the hardware is holding us up" attitude I find there's a huge contrast.

One guy knows what it is to be a game developer more than another.

Right, and the other guy knows what it is to be a race car driver.

True, but I'm buying a game so I would rather the product off the better developer.

Yes, but a rather average one in professional terms. :) And like the guy above says, I am buying a game, not organizing a race team.

I have never played a forza game but F4 looks decent enough to at least rent and play on my girlfreinds xbox, but

What's with the physics in this video? The car is constantly sliding around like a typical arcade racer. People are constantly banging on about how realistic forza is (not Gtplanet people) Is the physics set to arcade here or something?

Game looks beautiful btw, too bad its an xbox exclusive

Hm... Has anyone else noticed more and more people online in Forza 3?

A lot of the really fast guys are playing again, some are even joining new teams to get ready for FM4. There were a lot of really fast guys who stopped playing FM3 during the first month because in their opinion (mine included) the game was a big let down.

The same doesn't look like it can be said for FM4 though, pre ordered a while back and itching to play it.

someone on a pad with all aids on, that's the result.

Yup... Easy to tell because the rewind thingy still pops up and the ABS/TCS/STM signals next to the rev counter are lighting up.

Wish FM4 came out today and ****** GoW3 came out on October 14th :grumpy:

Another boring, generic shooter. Bloody sick of them.

How many of you are disappointed that Porsche is not making a comeback? I am somewhat disappointed but when I see those nice RUFs, it's not quite so bad because at least they are a good substitute 👍

Well, the public lobby is a must these days, specially if you are used to gt5 online racing....

This. Oh, so much more.

Edit : Crap, wrong thread.

yesssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay!!!!

I think I'm going to do something I usually reserve for the 2nd or third playthrough and try going through the whole game without buying any cars on my first ply through. I might also do a thread tracking my progress.

Man, still two weeks to go ...

Worst day ever to drop the demo lol.
I'll be in EU on holiday. Hopefully the game stores over there have the demo so I at least can check it out. Otherwise... only the 10-12th will be when I first try it.

I don't even know whether I want to play the demo... I know I'm gonna buy it anyways, so I might reserve my first (not counting gamescom) i9mpression for the final version

Nice news on the demo.
Prepare to repel Borders once the demo hits.

Some people here are insane. Or out of luck :p
