Funny/Strange News Stories

Why are mentally ill people given a platform and allowed to live their delusions rather than sent to a specialist and cared for/ given treatment?

Alternatively, why are trolls given a platform? Are the media that dumb that they think this is legit news and not somebody stitching them up?

Am I just out of touch with the modern world and should go back to living under my rock of ignorance where I existed blissfully, unaware of the retardation that seems to be celebrated in modern society?

Somebody please confirm that that is a joke article.

There was another article before this where she wanted to date ghosts and no living people anymore. She gave an interview on daytime TV as well. It's taking the biscuit a little yes. Troll pull open the floodgates on this.

If they suffered from anorexia or schizophrenia they'd be forced to receive treatment, but if they're mentally unwell enough to decide to choose their gender that is something than their biological makeup (in the same way that an anorexic would about their body shape), we seem to encourage it.

69-year-old Dutchman starts legal bid to become 20 years younger

Emile Ratelband has launched a legal bid to change his age by 20 years in order to improve his chances with women on dating applications like Tinder and help with job prospects, according to reports in Dutch media.
"You can change your name. You can change your gender. Why not your age? Nowhere are you so discriminated against as with your age," Dutch paper De Telegraaf quoted Ratelband as saying.
On Monday, he asked a court in his hometown of Arnhem, in the east of the country, for his date of birth to be changed from March 11, 1949 to March 11, 1960.
He told the court that he "suffers" as a 69-year-old and has been feeling "20, 25 years younger" than his official age, according to Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
According to the newspaper, the court is skeptical about Ratelband's case as there is no legal precedent in this area. It is due to make a ruling in four weeks.

A week or two ago we had a woman bumping uglies with ghosts. I guess marrying a hologram would be the next logical step.

When newlywed Akihiko Kondo returns from work at a middle school in a Tokyo suburb, he is greeted by the love of his life, who lights up - literally - in welcome. His wife, Hatsune Miku, is not flesh and blood but a computer-generated hologram. Her ethereal existence did not stop Kondo, 35, from strengthening his commitment to her with a recent $18,000 wedding ceremony. “I believe the shape of happiness and love is different for each person,” Kondo told Reuters Television. “There definitely is a template for happiness, where a real man and woman get married, have a child and live all together. But I don’t believe such a template can necessarily make everyone happy,” the civil servant said. Hatsune Miku was developed as computer-generated singing software with the persona of a big-eyed, 16-year-old pop star with long, aqua-colored hair.
