Damn, Sansa is taller than I thought... way taller.

That shot makes her look taller than Kit Harington even when you take perspective into account. But she's actually an inch shorter.

High heels do wonders.

Oh, good to know... that would make my fantasies with her a bit troublesome
Just kidding

Me and the wife have just blasted through from start to present in a week and a half - the wait now will be tough! Can't believe that we nearly missed this, wondering now whether to read the books or not? It's not a case of not enjoying them, but I don't want to ruin the TV episodes.

Go ahead and read the books. You will be in good company. They are well-crafted page-turners, add enormously to the story depth, and will not ruin the TV series. The HBO production stands alone as the most popular, lavish and expensive TV series ever produced, and stands well on its own merits. It departs in many small ways from the books, and constantly surprises and delights me, a reader of the 5 ASOIAF books.

Tip: avoid the small paperback edition, and get the larger trade paperback. Much easier to read, with nicer maps and family genealogies.

It's funny cos, if you speak to book fans anywhere else, the show is AN ABSOLUTE TRAVESTY DAMN YOU DB WEISS!

It's half the reason I don't wanna read the books. The other half being that reading through a story I already know for three hefty books is a bit dull.

This was my worry. But I'm nearly halfway through the second book, and it hasn't been dull at all. Even though I know what will happen, it's still interesting and enjoyable to read. And I can spot the foreshadowing.

Hmmm, I'll pick up the first book again and start plugging away at it. I've been wanting for something decent to read anyway.

I've read the books, and while I do sometimes feel there's a few characters/plot points missing from the show, I don't let that feeling ruin the show for me.

( maybe spoilers if you arent caught up yet, im on mobile. Sorry)

I agree with this sentiment. Altho there are a couple show additions that are just baffling to me. Grey worm and missendi for one. That screen time could have been better used. Stannis going to the iron bank was also unneededm
then others that add to it, like hound/brienne battle. That was a nice way to fill in some gaps that were missing in the hound/arya plot lines.

The show also wasted time with the dondarrion setup for a character that isnt coming back ( rumoured)

Most frustrating thing hampering the show for me is that it really should be 13 episode seasons.

STANNIS THE GOD DAMN MANNIS SWEET JESUS HE FINALLY SAVED THE WALL.

Daenerys is finally realising she's a god damn idiot though. Oh look at me I'll just free some frikkin' dragons, oh wait, they're burning god-damn children! Hurp, durp I'm teh mother of ten thousand frigging titles that no-one cares about."

Jon Snuh was pretty cool this episode. I really like Mance Rayder, interested to see what comes of him.
And I always knew Tywin would end up on the Throne.

So disappointed that book 6 is not coming out this year, although I am looking forward to finally getting my hands on the prequels.
my local library (or any of the libraries in its group) have them.
I did get my hands on the hedge knight graphic novel tho.

Game of Thrones
- is shot in 5 countries
- uses 151 sets
- shot for 240 days
- used 166 cast members
- >1000 crew members
- >5000 extras
- is viewed in 193 countries

Game of Thrones, Season 5, "A Day in the Life":

I wonder which countries are left out of that list of 193. I just have this mental image now of Kim Jong-un cheering on Ramsay Snow.

Well, GoT is now broadcast (in greatly censored form) in China on CCTV, and North Korea does receive its (intermittent) internet feed from China. So it wouldn't surprise me if Kim Jong-un has seen it. He is said to have received an extensive education in Switzerland, including speaking English. But he was also said to have been a poor student with bad attendance, preferring American basketball to anything else. My mental image of him is cheering on Gregor Clegane, "The Mountain that Rides". :yuck:

Ramsey Snow is a very flawed but interesting character, like his father Roose. They both should surely die, but it would be just like GRRM to endow one or the other with either some redemptive or supernatural qualities - do Roose Bolton's icy blue eyes hint at a connection to the Whitewalkers? I doubt Kim Jong-un has any redemptive qualities.:yuck:

But the actual North Korean people - the peasantry - are said to be almost entirely animist in religion, meaning that they would have an affinity for the weirwood trees, and maybe the Children of the Forest or the dragons!

24 minutes of Ramin Djwadi's ear-gasmic House Targaryen-themed soundtrack music from seasons 1-3.

Can't wait for the new season, looks like it will start just as Better Call Sauls finished too so we won'y have nothing to watch.

I can understand why Arya didn't tick him off the list as they developed a bond, the fight with Brienne and the Hound made no sense though really, Arya was fine and she took off after the fight anyway so it served no real purpose apart from getting her to bravos.

I just finished season 4 and yeah it was amazing...but there are a few things that annoy me somehow.
First of all that whole Brienne vs Hound thing was completely dumb. Why did brienne to fight for arya? why did jaime tell her to do so? The hound said it, it makes absolutely no sense anymore to take arya anywhere, she was fine alongside the hound and brienne made no sense running around there and even attacking!?
Arya did not say a word after their conversation, not like she agreed on anything which is why whe just ran away from brienne. Also the result of that clash....as much as i like brienne she should not last a minute in a duel against sandor clegane. Especially not in hand to hand??

Also why does arya not take hee chance to tick a name on her list. She speaks that list day and night and Sandor even wanted to die because all thats left for him is a slow painful death somewhere in the middle of nowhere. Why does she not do it? Pretty cruel to just leave him behind?

Oberyn Martell...I liked the guy very much from the first episode of s4 on. And he gets the most cruel death ever ?? Why not just kill gregor? We had the mountain be an asshole for 40 episodes now, was it really clever to keep him ??I cared about the red wedding not very much because robb and his mother were annoying. Robb stopped doing anything about and was just messing around with his stupid girl while his hometown was overrun and his brother hunted down. His mother, even worse, didnt stop making up and executing stupid plans to keep robb from doing the little he was doing anyway. Any thought she made up in the third season was entirely dumb, I dont miss those two.

Oberyn though was a badass. I cant get that scene out of my head, not because of the gore but because he was so close to getting his revenge and the way he left was mean.
Also jorah and daenerys pointlessly parting ways, two dragons pointlessly taken from the plot...just what???

Got was always rough and giving you surprises but that fourth season needs some serious rewrite. The wall with Jon and Petyr/Sansa was cool but the rest couldve been better. Also everyone is waiting for daenerys to finally do something but she just sits around on her butt and lets the lannisters do crap.

 Did you even watch the show?

Brienne beat the Hound because he was already suffering from wounds after his battle at chicken inn.

That Arya leaves the Hound to die is masterful irony. Is it mercy or cruelty? That is the point, and you seem to have missed it.

Oberyn Martell dies, obviously, because of the carelessness for his safety given the situation. You see, the author provides a great juxtaposition of victory and defeat for Martell. Victory seems within reach because The Mountain lay dying. However, it would be a devastating loss for Oberyn if Gregor died without confessing his crimes. In the end, he is literally crushed by his quest for vengeance.

Martell's ace in the hole was that his blade was poisoned. So once the first strike hit, all Martell needed was the confession. He got it, but paid the price for it. Did you really think someone with that much hubris would last long? Anyway, I don't understand how this great character is lost on you.
