Thoughts and feels below:

Man, I'm a sucker for heroic last stands and suchlike, so this episode was very, very good for me. Janus Slynt showing his true colours, the Thenns getting what they deserved, Giants being unrelenting badasses brought down by six scared-yet-brave Nightswatchmen? MAMMOTHS?!

Excellent cinematography and special effects. This season has been fairly low-key on the SFX, they must have been saving it up for this episode. Like Blackwater Bay, they really did it justice and made it movie-quality.

Also Samwell 🤬 Tarley, I salute you during your ascendancy to manhood and badassery. May your spiral power never diminish!

I am going to be so without purpose when the season ends...

I wonder what's gonna happen to Sansa, now that she joined the dark side of the Game...

How many teeth would you lose if a really strong guy smashed your face against an anvil?

Other than that, great, intense episode. We needed a full-of-battle episode after what happened last week :0

Yeah that surprised the heck out of me too. I honestly thought that was the end of him right there. That was for sure the most ridiculous part of that episode. Especially when you consider what happened with teeth a few episodes ago, that didn't go quite so well.

It seems fairly common for the 9th episode to be like that. Then the 10th is a little slower but with a bombshell ending.

It's interesting that the climax of the season is always in the penultimate episode...

Don't put it beyond the writers of the series to get you into that comfort zone and then completely slay you with a final episode one day.

Screw ten-episode seasons ):

the worst part is that, from here, it's up to about... march? That's a too damned long time.

Hopefully they release a decent priced box set with all 4 seasons. I will re-watch this from the beginning and that should hold me over until Season 5 is released. It will probably help clear up some of the questions I have too.

You should read Martin's ASOIAF series. It's the real deal!

Season 3 came available in DVD/BlueRay in about February of this year, I think. Likely season 4 won't be available on disc until then, either.

Alternatively, HBO's On-Demand always has all 4 seasons available. You could get a 6-month discount HBO subscription, then maybe save all 4 seasons on your DVR.

Under all the furs and clothes he wears on screen you never really see how gargantuan he is. Look at the size of the dudes hands!

Oh my. That was epic. What a finale!

For fear of spoiling, I will just say to those who haven't seen it, the only disappointing thing is you need to now wait 10 months for the next fix.

That was a pretty exciting episode. Although a friend who has read the books said it was missing something huge that happened in the books. I might have to start reading them, I don't think I can manage a 10 month wait.

I feel that Brans storyline is way ahead of where it was at this point in the book series.
Could just be because i read them back to back to back to back to back and have timelines jumbled in my head.

I know almost nothing about the books, but I'm glad that what I hoped to see at the end of The Watchers on the Wall was utilised during the first 10 minutes of the finale (Stannis the Mannis rides again:p).

I hate Arya now

Even I have to admit that was cold of her, though his fate (in the TV series at least) is still uncertain. And it's about time she stopped trying to reach recently deceased relatives and grabbed the next ship to Braavos.

And aside from Daenerys' story arc* and most of episode 4, this season surpassed the others by a fair margin. I certainly don't regret starting the series just a month before this season began. It really has been equal parts pain and pleasure to follow right to the end.

*For me, it peaked during Season 3.

It could be because Bran's story is boring as heck.

STANNIS THE GOD DAMN MANNIS SWEET JESUS HE FINALLY SAVED THE WALL.

Daenerys is finally realising she's a god damn idiot though. Oh look at me I'll just free some frikkin' dragons, oh wait, they're burning god-damn children! Hurp, durp I'm teh mother of ten thousand frigging titles that no-one cares about."

Jon Snuh was pretty cool this episode. I really like Mance Rayder, interested to see what comes of him. Arya is finally going to Braavos.

And I always knew Tywin would end up on the Throne.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooh damn. What a closer for this season. Damn. Wife and I were smashing heads against the wall.

This show is awesome.

10 months 'til season 5?

I can't do this....

I'm thinking "The Children" was the best episode yet. This if a number or reasons, but most interestingly due to a blog I read by Amanda Marcotte:

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/06/...-season-asking-hard-questions-about-identity/
In an episode called “The Children”, the theme of being a child and having a parent was clearly a big one. But on a deeper, more subtle level, this episode really was the introduction of a theme that book readers know will become a bigger and bigger deal as the story goes on: The question of what identity means and how, exactly, people determine who they are. Are we who our parents say we are? Our communities? Do we determine who we are for ourselves? Is there an “authentic” self that constrains who you can be—are we even trapped by destiny? Or can we reject our given identities and follow a different star?

I never read the books so everything in this show is a surprise and mystery to me. Overall I am truly hooked. Overall excellent closer to season 4.

Spoilers

John Snow has some serious balls walking to the enemy like that but it turned out in his favor.

The fight scene with the Hound and Brienne was epic. Just such a close brutal battle between two beasts. Really enjoyed that battle and I was happy the victor. Its a shame about the hound but he might not be dead.

As for the mountain, he did live and now is going to be even more powerful.

Bitter sweet about Shae. Feel so bad for Tyrion.

Tyrion finally destroying his dad was another dang epic moment. If he hadn't shot his dad I would have been furious with the show. But he did it and it was awesome! The moment he said "Say Whor...... again" reminded me of Pulp Fiction. "Say what!!...say what again I dare you!!???"

Daenerys tucking the 2 dragons away was a bid sad for sure. The dragons were some of my favorite characters of the show even though they had very little time so far. I just have an obsession with dragons. Will be interesting to see what happens now.

The 3 eyed raven storyline is still a mystery to me in a good way. "You will never walk but now you will fly". Hmm

End spoiler
