...as long as you take out Garfield's dialogue.

There was better page I was going to link to instead of just a forum thread, but that link actually has a ton of great edited strips.

Read and be amazed!

I think that's pretty excellent.

I LOVE GARFIELD! HOW DARE ANYONE DOWNPLAY IT!!

I have most of all the garfield comics in the books that come out...read pretty much all of them since 1979 :) (in the books of course, considering i was born in 1984)

Well, since you have all the comics, why don't you try reading a few without Garfield's comments. Test out the notion.

I find the lack of comments from Garfield, a whole new funny take on the comic.

Hilarious.

I agree.

The cat just giving his expressions makes it funny!

I still miss Bloom County. It had the "depth" of Doonesbury, but was actually funny.
That, and I really liked Opus. Who could actually be a smarter, more naive version of Odie.

I loved Garfield back in the day. I still have a few of his books and I still think it's funny as crap. But these edited strips didn't seem much different; I remember a lot of strips where Garfield wouldn't say anything and just have a stupified look on his face, especially when Jon said something wacked like the "jealous toes" thing. Most of these no-caption strips are pretty funny though. I like "jealous toes" the best.

I love how it brings a completely different tone to the comic. Some are just plain weird, which is okay in my book.

Awesome, no?

Uh, Jon Arbuckle is a whole new kind of idiot with garfield commenting on him.

Garfield never was the stupidest comic ever; just the second-stupidest. That honor goes to Cathy, without a doubt. There are exactly three Cathy strips: the one where she complains about being fat and then eats like a hog, the one where she complains about work and then goes shopping, and the one where she complains about never having a boyfriend to her mother. Somehow, the artist has made a 30-year career out of this. That's 10 solid years on each theme.

...Good point, duke.

Time-waster.

Well, Garfield never was the crappiest strip... just the most successful of a whole load of crappy strips... which sort of made it the biggest **** magnet in the history of comic syndication... and a good example of how to sell out for fun and profit.

I kind of agree... while Garfield stops being funny after the first fifty strips or so (they kind of repeat after that), some of these are downright hilarious!

No, jon... finally, you aren't.

Best dictionary ever made. Garfield comics on nearly every page. They're hilarious no matter what you do to the dialog.

I was more of a Shoe man when it was around.

I loved Garfield when I was in Jr. High. That was back in '81-83 when Garfield was just starting out. I remembered reading his books instead of paying attention in Latin class. Amas, Amat, Amant is all I remember, and I doubt that's correct.

The most stupid comic strip that I actually like is Fox Trot.

Does anyone have the strip when Garfield is pretending to be a tiget shark? I used to cry laughing at that when I was a kid, but I don't remember why!

meh when i read them after i while i tend to want to make noises to make up for the lack of garfield's words... sometimes he does have a wit to him.

Although, If you've met Tom Wilson, Jr. He's a pretty cool guy.

The most pointless comic EVER is Mark Trail. period.

Garfield is SOO much better without comments from garfield.
