Well, you've got Nigel Godrich (the Radiohead producer) producing the new one, so the sound's a lot more 'atmospheric' - but yeah, it's a much more 'serious' album than Midnight Vultures.

I've always thought Beck was like the proverbial 'curate's egg', that is to say good in parts, but inconsistent - Odelay is a good example - Jackass was a stunner, but there were some shockers in there as well. At least he's in there having a go at original material - he could be another Craig David or Ronan Keating.

Guys, I should clarify - in my previous post I was suggesting that Craig David and Ronan Keating were unoriginal and inspirationless artists, in contrast to Beck.

That's the one! Glad to hear somebody else knows the song! Did you guys just sing it, or was there a recording?

The studio version is very slow, played on bass and accordian, and sounds like something from the Mister Rogers show. Funny in an oddball way.

But amp the guitar to 11 and play it at warp speed, live, and I'm slamming in the pit before the vocals even start...

They Might Be Giants are the guys who wrote and played the Malcom In The Middle theme - imagine The Sun sang and played in the style of the chorus to You're Not The Boss Of Me.

Maz: you can find it on the They Might Be Giants live album, called Severe Tire Damage. The album is worth picking up, if you can't find some place to just rip that track.

They also used to do a song called The Famous Polka which absolutely rocked the pit as well, until one time when the stage collapsed and 20 or 30 people got hurt. They don't do that one any more.

Feeder. Listen to Feeder. Their 4th album, "Comfort In Sound" comes out this month, and I think you should buy both that and their last album Echo Park.

While you are doing so, please remember Echo Park was done with drummer Jon-Lee, who committed suicide. Comfort In Sound has a guy named Mark Richardson on the drums. Remember that.

Those are all good songs, but I'm not sure what you guys are familiar with. Matthew Good Band is only really known up here in Canada, Joe Satriani never sings, and Dave Nevarro...well, you'll see.

By the way, Heaven is a Halfpipe is a hilarious song. Listen to it.
