Hello all,

Quiet week this week but something that could be of interest, I'm trialing a monthly update in short form on my YouTube channel as a quick guide to the biggest changes each month. Obviously for the dedicated here most of this won't be news but if you want a recap it could be useful!

Check it here:

Yesterday, you did a hotlap of my favorite race car in A-Spec,

And now, a Beige Edition update video.

Peak Emile momento, hell effin yeah

I got a bit of a thing with me for this mod!

Even though my reception of the mod in this state of development is very positive, i'm afraid my opinion would change at the time of this mod's release and my acqusition of the mod. Either because i'm not used to these slow traffic vehicles, and there's limited tuning i can do to 'em, etc. etc.

So to get myself used to the Beige, i got me self a Dodge Avenger '99, in Cafe Latte. Why this color you ask? It's mainly down to three reasons:

1. In the video showing the first 120 cars of Beige, the car was featured in this color.
2. It was the closest color to beige available to this car.
3. It was my personal favorite color option : )

I kept it fairly stock (except for 2 stages of weight reduction) and so far i like the way it drives! I also got some other commuter vehicles like a Dodge Neon, Peugeot 106, Ford KA, Daihatsu Kid Aerodown, Toyota Starlet, Opel Corsa, and even a GM EV1! But all of them are souped up unlike the Avenger. (except for the EV1 because no upgrades were available for this thing)

Am i ready for Beige? Yeah, i think i am. With my experience with niche road vehicles in GT2P-AS, i've been enjoying the way they drive. They're controllable, takes corners smoothly, and easy to correct everytime a mistake happens. They're very fun track toys even with they're low speeds.

That really is the appeal of the mod, to me at least. While the novelty of racing anonymous and forgettable vehicles is fun, it's the different skillset needed to be fast in cars that weren't meant to go fast that's interesting. There's more of a margin for error that lets you really experiment and figure out just how hard you can get away with pushing it.

Hello all,

This week's short and sweet Beige Edition update:

The Peugeot 206 has also has a completely new model and texture, not yet in game but here's some pictures and a comparsion to the base game's 206. To be honest looking at it, this maybe the first ever accurate road going 206 model ever!

And of course, you can't have an Acura CL without remaking the GT3 North American Box Art! Always cool to have another beige logo!

And that's it for this week in beige!

Well i've always thought the custom models somehow beats the quality of the vanilla models.....

You guys are outstanding!

I've been considering releasing all of my reworks lately since 2.1 keeps getting slower, but initially I wanted to keep them for it, or at least until release, so that they'd be an incentive to play it hah

Some questions again...

- Will there be other remastered models in Beige? That 206 is peak and i feel like some of the other cars also deserve that level of quality......

- There are some minivan platforms i wanna see in the mod? May you confirm them? We already got two platforms currently confirmed, the Chrysler minivans (Caravan, Voyager, T&C) and the U-bodys (Venture, Sintra, Silhouette, Montana). There are also some solo vans like the Astro, Life Step, Pregio, and the Zafiras. Here's the ones!

- The Eurovans, there was already the 806 Procar in A-Spec so you could use that model for reference (806, Evasion, Zeta, Ulysse)
- The Galaxy, Alhambra, and Sharan (idk the platform name)
- The Dustbusters, the dustbuster van's successor, the U-body platform already got a good repersentation here (Lumina, Trans Sport, Silhouette)

- Here's an interesting one, i know that you can't add or even just edit the tracks in the game, but had it be possible, what tracks would the team choose to add for Beige Edition?

- In the photos that had been shared, the images that show cars being viewed in dealerships have their horsepower and weight indicators missing. Was it because the specs hasn't been entered yet or was it intentional. It is interesting but understandable if it was intentional, it made a sort of sense. It could be to incentivise the players to forget about the numbers and appreciate the cars for simply what they are :)
(this is a stupid question, i know)

- Any three wheelers in the mod? Will we get a Piaggio Ape? Or the facelifted Reliant Robin? Maybe even the almighty Midget I!?

- Will there be any new features in Beige that are not in the vanilla game? If this came with the option to change car colors in the Tune Shop this mod will be peak of peak

There's definitely going to be a few, the 306 is absolutely getting a new model for example there will be others but outside of some outliers most GT2 models are serviceable enough for the most part.

Yeah they will all come in some form, I think Nathan basically wanted to avoid doing so many minivans in a short period of time

I won't speak for the team and they are more then welcome to throw some thoughts into here but for me I find GT2 already has all the track variety it really needs, maybe I'd chuck in a classic BTCC track or two but I don't really feel GT2 needs more tracks unlike say GT3 that absolutely does need more tracks!

Yeah basically the stats aren't finalised and I learned pretty early on if you leave them in people ask silly questions so I've just started blacking them out for now!
- Any three wheelers in the mod? Will we get a Piaggio Ape? Or the facelifted Reliant Robin? Maybe even the almighty Midget I!?
Nope, never considered. GT2 isn't built to handle them and they don't display correctly in the menus anyway so that idea would be out of the question before it even was verbalised
- Will there be any new features in Beige that are not in the vanilla game? If this came with the option to change car colors in the Tune Shop this mod will be peak of peak
I'm sure there will be a few quality of life improvements but you are very limited on what you can do, the recolouring I think wouldn't be possible. Maybe with race mod but that would mean duplicating a car body and seems like more effort then it would be worth. That would also be a one time thing at max.

Thanks for your questions, always good fun to answer these!

Y'know what i'd like to see?

When the mod was finally released, i'd actually wanna see the list of cars that don't make the cut

To be honest I'm not tracking that too hard but I can probably look through the logs. I can definitely list a few off, if you want something to wet your appetite, the focus in international models was a pretty late one. So there was a few "Eastern" oddities.

One these was the a Trabant. But actually the later 1.1 version with the Volkswagen engine that was built for a few years after the wall fell until 1991, however 500 of these cars were meant to go to Turkey but the importer went into bankruptcy and so 500 cars sat in a port for 4 years until the company got wind and recovered what they could.

These 440ish cars (because wind and salt had killed a few so they had to cobble some together with bits from some of the other cars) were sold as the Trabant 1.1 Final Edition in 1995. They sold badly and virtually all of them went quickly because rust and horribly built because port car.

It's a fascinating story I would have like to tell but it didn't feel right having it still there when all it's stable mates got cut.

(Picture of a normal 1.1)

Something a bit different for you, it's time to talk menus and assets! Because you can't have cars if you haven't got the menus to get to them.

Firstly, each city has new dealers and so, to create some room and give the mod a fresh look each city has been redesigned! Bonus points if you can guess each location used.

Due to limitations with the game, you can't add tune shops beyond the original number meaning this mod will be using the universal tune shop similar to that found in A-Spec. However this does give a great opportunity to give the dealer splash screens a new, vibrant look. The original game is horrendously inconsistent with button placements and the cropping of the images used. Beige fixes this with a more universal look while also having unique widgets for the buy car screen!

The car line up screen has also been changed. Personally I've always hated the orange silhouette look and I've always found the demo/beta builds did it much better. So we've bought it back!

Special shoutouts to lowercase for the dealer splash screen concepts and builds + Paddy for the line up screen concept and builds!

Also changing with Beige is the trackside scenery, this is something I'm surprised more mod projects haven't attempted as it's a great way to keep the game looking fresh while also helping to promote new brands. I've always found the base game only really offers manufacturers and tire/oil makers which seems jarring with so many on screen at once. So with Beige we've attempted to branch out offering advertisements for various products while keeping things grounded taking inspiration from racecars and partnerships from the real world. There's still more to add but for now here's some screenshots to give you an idea of just how much this can change the look of the game!

Just to mention while we are in development nothing is ever final but I hope this gives you some more insight on more then just car changes occurring with Beige Edition!

We also got new car models unveiled with the dealer previews! Idk if their models have been made or not but the point is we know they exist in here.

We also get some new makes confirmed in the mod! Since I already scoured the internet for every mention of Beige, which made me keen on almost all of the information and content on the mod, most of these new brands are nothing new to me. The only ones i saw that I haven't seen elsewhere are the Rover brand which I think all the British Leyland cars would be sold and Land Rover.

I did get one question on my mind right now, will there still be special models in the dealerships? Since the mod has quite a lot of special edition cars maybe those would end up there? I could also see said special editions being prize cars :)

Yeah a few teases there although most is known, nothing in those are modelled that you haven't seen to my knowledge. On the manufacturers there's a couple more (such as BL) that'll only be found in the used dealer but most of what you see is it!

No, special models is surplus to requirements due to no concepts or racecars. A few are just in the standard dealers and others are prize cars

Are there limitations on how many dealerships can be loaded in the game? Do the special models tab counts? If they do I see the reason for it's removal, since there's quite a lot of new makes introduced in the mod

As far as I'm aware no, special models just didn't need to exist everything is either new or used so there was no need for it

NOTE : This comment was meant to be me revealing all the cars that have already been confirmed in Gran Turismo 2 : Beige Edition. But i'm feeling that this method of going in-and-out updating the list speratically will take 'effin forever and if i'm on an hiatus people are just gonna be left with an uncomplete, cluttered list.

So what am i gonna do is that i'm planning to make a seperate thread about this topic. I will post the thread here once it's finished.

(if i even remember to make the thread, or i remember but just kept 'procrastinatin on it)

Hey

About the thread i said, i actually already made it! Granted it's far from finished, only one brand has been covered but i'll finish it as quickly as i could! I do bet that most of the good people here has already check'd out the thread, but probably only in it's unfinished form. The only covered brand so far, Acura has been finished and tidied up!

The thread is right here : https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/thre...d-in-gran-turismo-2-beige-edition-wip.436317/

Edit, 19 Feb. 2026 : Alfa Romeo and AMC covered.

Suddenly i wondered.

Will those ugly retro-styled Japanese Cars appear here? What i mean is that those ones like the Vivio Bistro, Sambar Dias, and the whole Mistuoka lineup.

Yes, i do think they're ugly as hell. C'mon, putting the faces of old Jaguars on kei vans and small hatchbacks are just, eughhh. The only i like from this era is the Subaru Impreza Casa Blanca (yes look that up) idk why it's the only one in my opinion looks good.

No none of those, I think there was one earlier in development but it got thrown out. I find them a bit too much of a low hanging fruit

No, they have changed but not directly inspired by anything in particular and they look pretty similar to the base game as of now
I'd like to see them someday, not now, from what you said i don't think they're finished. It'll also spoil the events and i don't think the team would like that :[
