Thanks for posting this, I was looking for it a few days ago but they hadn't even released it then.

EDIT: Great review, but he was too generous giving it 7/10 imo. And he shouldn't worry about upsetting GT fans with his comments, nor would he be if he read any of the threads on here, as most of us think it's a little lacklustre too! 👍

Great review, I though he was gonna give it a 6/10 though. Glad I totally bypassed this game, this review is pretty much a confirmation that won't pick it up at all.

@PepeMickey - The trouble is that this is a "Final Review" of an unfinished game. Maybe after 6 months or so of updates it'll be a worthy purchase. I feel a little bit gutted seeing it on Amazon for £19.95 when I paid twice that much for it at launch. Maybe you should take the reviewers advice & pick up a cheap second hand copy at some point in the future, if & when the updates improve it.

👍

"The worst sounds in all of sim racing"
"I'm going to have a hard time playing GT7 with vacuum cleaner sounds like that"

He's telling it how it is. 👍 I hope the sound update does make it into GT6, & that they manage to make them sound better.

I'd have to say he hit the review spot on. Of course the game isn't "complete" but in all honesty, the release now fix later mentality isn't a good trend in developers these days and should not be an excuse.

As a huge fan of drifting, his description of wheel dampening is something I've felt, but could never really put into words. While the feeling of the car is much more pronounced, during drifting I often feel I need to help the car countersteer much more than I should have to. This was never a real problem in GT5, as the countersteer was almost instant as the car transitioned it's weight from one side to the other. In GT6 there's this dead period mid transition in most of my cars. I suppose I never thought about the lack of wheel options we have in GT.

Great review indeed, says it how it is and the look on his face was precious also
PD can consider themselves lucky to still receive a 7 there IMO...

Yeah, he kind of tried to damage control all that he said with that score which is still pretty average. The 19 minute long review vs GT5's 2 part 40 minute long review says it all.

This review basically bolted down everything wrong with GT6 as a simulator, though people do need to keep in mind that this game is still marketed as, yes, a video-game, and for a video-game on hardware that's seven years old, I must say that it looks and plays very nicely. Though comparing GT6 to Forza 5 is not even fair in the slightest; Forza 5 is on new, next-generation hardware. PD had to trick and salve what horsepower the PS3 has to get it running as it is.

Things relating to a racing simulation in GT6 are lackluster, indeed. At least he pointed out mechanical damage more than physical, which should matter more in my opinion. In any case, GT6 is still marketed as a video-game product and not a racing simulator. Although, "The real driving simulator" does need its slogan revoked in favor of another one.

I get what I wanted nice balanced MR and RR cars, this is the most important thing for me.
And I noticed something PD sacrificed graphics for better physics,I like that.
Sorry for my bad English.

Actually, as a driving simulator it's pretty good. It's the racing (especially the offline part) that falls short, in my opinion. For free runs and trackdays it's great.

Yeah, it's good on the driving. For some reason though I always thought the slogan was like "The drive of your life" or something similar. Maybe that was for GT3 or GT4?

But yeah. The career of GT6 is bad. The lack of intelligible and competitive AI is made worse by the lack of events. I don't find them to be a grind, like he says though. Perhaps having no competition is considered to be a grind for some...

For PS3 is good I expect more physics improvement on PS4.

I think that was for Peugeot ;)

(Btw, I can recommend the Peugeot 106!)

I don't take these guys serious anymore. They are seriously, seriousy biased.
Oh so all the negative points he mentioned (which sound exactly like the criticism you hear on this forum), are false and they are biased? Maybe the game really does suck if you compare it to what's out there, and i guess the boys at insidesimracing would be the best judges for that seeing they play practically everything.

O jesus christ here comes the forum pessimist again.
Lemme get this out of the way quickly: I like GT6. There.

I wasnt saying their points were false or biased, I said they THEMSELVES are biased.
Havent even watched the video because of that sole reason and it pisses me off.
They are heavily sponsored by iRacing and every video its like "wow its good but not as good as iRacing!"
Compare mario kart and a simulator some more would you

Maybe you should watch the video for starters; I'm thinking you a bit biased against them in that regard by refusing to watch it but criticizing their opinion nonetheless...

Actually, if you invested enough time researching about them, you'll see they're the first ones that defend console simulators against PC sim racing elitists. And actually their favorite sim is RBR not iRacing.

Well the reviewer clearly don't understand what GT6 is - it's pushing virtual divide. (doh!)

"You stupid woman!" like René would say. But he's not a woman...anyway I will explain to all you uneducated people why GT6 is actually amazing artistic achievement.

"Updeto-teto" (74 future patches) which refers to some old Japanese tradition pulled out for convenience is like an artist re-touching his painting after exposing it to the public...omg...I'm crying...it's so beautiful...

Now go - play the game because it's beautiful. Never underestimate the power of the mighty GT Excuser - the one and only who will make sense where there is none, the one and only who will make you go "ahhhhh" - yes GT6 might look like a mediocre game - but it's only because you have not met...THE MIGHTY GT EXCUSER !

..and don't get me started on "Sondeto-vacumeto" and "Rollero-Starteto" - if you knew what those antic traditions mean you would understand..

Wait... WAIT. Did I read correctly that MR/RR cars are the reason to not bypass GT6?! I haven't watched the video yet (still at work) but someone PLEASE go post that video in every MR/RR crying thread. Like, now.

Really? They rated GT5 higher than Forza 4...Biased how?

edit: read your next post "They are heavily sponsored by iRacing and every video its like "wow its good but not as good as iRacing!"" You honestly dont think GT games are as good as iRacing do you? Which is what your implying...

That's the OP's opinion, he doesn't say that in the video.

So im still on doubt whether to get this or not, im still on doubt whether to rely on other people's opinion or not because as flawed as what people's claimed on GT5, i enjoyed it very much. Im afraid i wont be able to enjoy the game as much as i used to enjoy GT5 because i have just sold GTA 5 which i have become pretty bored with. Probably i'm growing up lol
