What do you expect the Power Pack DLC will cost?

im baffled by all the chat/speculation/arguement about the price.. the ones who want it will buy it, the ones who think its too pricey will get it after FOMO sets in, and the ones on PS4 will keep searching for reasons why they “didnt even want it anyway” 🤷‍♂️
The ones who want it will buy it? I’d like to count everybody’s hands who will buy it no matter the price and then see if that number is the same when it comes out. Nobody knows the price yet. I think RichiPuppy’s comment was seeing how many people think it’ll be $30 in the poll. The poll is what people think it will be, not what they want it to be. So have to keep that in mind. But it’s been said PD keep an eye on the forum so it is nuts that everybody wouldn’t just mark down $10 or less. Shooting themselves in the foot.

I think they should make a new poll and make it what would you pay for the dlc. Although nobody even really knows all that’s included in the dlc anyway.

For me the cost all depends on how long the game has actually been out.

Say it is AU$30 I have no issue paying that for Gran Turismo, but absolutely wouldn't for a game that comes out yearly.

my point exactly.

I once read here that Kaz doesn't play other racing games. Have you ever heard of a musician who doesn't listen to music? A painter who doesn't look at others' artwork?
Leo Fender did not play guitar or bass. But he still designed and built musical instruments and amplifiers which are still being manufactured and are incredibly popular today.

I don't think that Kaz himself needs to be playing other racing games in order to ensure that GT continues to improve and be successful.

Probably, but I doubt he was deaf to musicians' feedbacks on his instruments ?

Fender Jazzmaster has an old antiquated bridge design that hasn’t been changed in decades, despite musician complaints. But hey the aftermarket scene has grown to provide a modern solution but Fender won’t change it themselves.

The suggestion was that Kaz should personally play other racing games so that he can improve GT7. I gave Leo Fender - who couldn't even use his own products, yet alone those of a competitor - as an example of why I disagree on that point.

I don't know how Kaz aggregates community feedback, or what his process is for deciding what features get implemented or removed... But that's a separate discussion.

Disagree. I‘m still playing the game on PS4 but will upgrade to a PS5 Pro next year (mainly because of GTA VI). I‘ll have to wait until then but that‘s cool with me.

Btw can we assume that the Spec III update date will be officially announced this weekend?

Off topic, but Leo did go on to form G&L after selling Fender, a while after admittedly, but they were made to be more modern and player friendly.

Leo couldn't change much about the Jazzmaster in the few years he could before the CBS sale and CBS discontinued the JM in 1968 anyway.

Yeah I know that. Not going to research it but I’m pretty sure the brand was still in the game unlike Lotus, it just didn’t have the one car any more. For the life of me I can’t remember what car it was that was missing. I could have sworn it was the Alfa but maybe it wasn’t there on launch and then they brought it back later in the games lifecycle because it lists that in GT6 car list.

Anyhow it doesn’t matter that much. Typical PD stuff, a lot of the times it baffles me and there’s a whole lot of people on here that defend things they do (doesn’t mean I have to agree with them) I guess they just understand Kaz’s “vision” a little better than I do. Or they’re just fanboys. Either way I’m still playing the game, I just wish they had a direct suggestion box for some ideas.
Licensing contracts are complicated and some vehicles may require separate and/or multiple licenses to include. Specifically racing cars, professionally modified cars and some iconic cars and show cars are more likely to require more than just a license to use the manufacturing brand.

Those additional licenses may have different terms and time scales of the license for say Alfa Romeo who are the parent brand of the vehicle being licensed who might have a longer license.

Some licensors also have rights to sublicense associated brands and some don't, and this is even more complicated when you consider they may have that right for this car but not that one. Or, they have the right to sublicense some brands associated with this specific car but not every license needed, even though they are all Alfa Romeos.

I am just using Alfa Romeo as an example here, but hopefully that explains why this might happen and we might see cars dissappear between games. Obviously, where there is a graphical change, we're likely to lose cars simply because they need recreating for the new game and cars will be prioritised in a chosen way. This is separate to licensing, which is still required.

It's also not uncommon for a manufacturer to specify certain cars are or are not included in the license and/or game.

And then there might be exclusive licenses for a certain brand, car or racing series etc. that someone else holds that may restrict you from being able to license that car, brand or series for your own game even if you can acquire a wider license that might otherwise include it.

In short, it's really complicated.

The only cars that were Premium in GT5 but missing in GT6 were the Ferrari F1 cars.

They also seemingly lost the licence for Jensen and Ginetta, as Standard cars the Interceptor and G4 didn't return. And there's one special edition Standard 350Z that got cut. But it was just those five.

If Spec III is coming on the 4th (which I think the majority of us - including me - believe is the case) then assuming the typical pre update schedule it will be: Silhouettes this weekend (bit pointless, but there are 2 unconfirmed cars still) then trailer on Wednesday and update on Thursday

The original Telecaster was designed exactly that way, he gave prototypes to musicians and asked for feedback on the design.

Fender Jazzmaster has an old antiquated bridge design that hasn’t been changed in decades, despite musician complaints. But hey the aftermarket scene has grown to provide a modern solution but Fender won’t change it themselves.

It's an antiquated design by modern standards, but given that Leo Fender sold Fender in 1965 (only 8 years after the Jazzmaster came out) and died in 1991, it seems a bit harsh to blame the lack of a bridge redesign on him.

You don't license the brand itself, you get licenses on a car-by-car basis, and its the brand that gets the final say on what's included. They don't want to license model 'X', you don't get it.

It's not a PD exclusive issue at all. Many valid criticisms of PD exist, but this isn't one of them.

Okay, that‘s what I figured as well! 👌

I‘m really looking forward to creating liveries for the 296 GT3 and F1 liveries from the early 2000‘s!

Im hoping that the majority of the races are not mission challenge type ones but proper races. If people like the missions format thats fine but they are not for me,ive only completed the Tsukuba Circuir One Hour challenge.lol I`ll see what the price is and race format is before i commit,if i dont buy it im not really missing out on new cars or tracks. 👍

Ginetta, I bet it was that one. Thank you.

Passable would seem fair, it's certainly not (for me) one of the best.
Well, Gran Turismo on the whole appears at the top of the list of "best racing games" over and over, so I'll accept that it's one of the best.
That's quite simple, I dont agree with your ranking of it as one of the best and I explained why.

I also pointed out (as @Dave A has), that it depends on how you define 'best'.
You don't have to agree with me, and you don't have to agree with the myriad of reviews and articles that declare that it's one of the best. None the less, that there is a broad consensus that it is indeed "one of the best" is undeniable.

No idea why the existence of this forum can be taken to mean one can't be critical of GT7? That's an odd take to have to say the least.

BTW try the following URL www.forzaplanet.net/forum it's been a long time since this place was just about Gran Turismo.
Given how the future of Forza is looking, it may become more about Gran Turismo in the future.

https://gamingbolt.com/forza-motorsport-series-isnt-dead-clarifies-microsoft-gaming-ceo

For clarification, when any studio becomes the "support" studio for someone else, it's usually a terminal state of affairs. It would appear that Forza is going on a long hiatus in favour of Forza Horizon.
Which has what to do with what exactly?
The Crew Motorfest is also considered "one of the best" by many sites, and yet the passion does seem to be there. I interpret that as a judgement on the state of the game.

I have to say, this is an odd discussion. I never thought that declaring GT "one of the best" would be so controversial. 🤔 Especially not on a GT forum, that I have been a part of for (checks profile) 20 years now. I've been a forum member longer than some members have been alive.
Fair enough, the one make bugs me. I’d like to have a muscle car race not run a bunch of Z28’s. Can you tune the cars or does it only work with stock form vehicles. Is that the AI gets sports tires still a thing or certain cars get different tires?
The tire default is what the AI will use UNLESS you put them on RH. So, I put RH tires on everything. The positive side effect is that Sophy tends to play better on the RH tires. I have tuned all of my muscle cars to 650pp. I had a set up with all the muscle cars, but I have since decided to focus on the Pony cars.

Don't get me wrong, it is ABSOLUTLEY a hassle and you have to enjoy the process. I merely bring up the Sophy part to highlight what exists in the PS5 version at the moment. Note: The 429 is the best of the three, which is why I pass people. If I use the Challenger, I'm busting my butt to make a pass.

9 Days to go!!

I totally agree with you, for me GranTurismo7 is one of the best and after the Spec III and Power Pack update it could become the best.

I suspect that they will get back to FM once they get FH6 out the door. Forza Motorsport is a very good and popular simcade. I hope they continue to move forward with the series.

Good for you, personally, I will use my own criteria and experience.

And yet you still haven't defined what makes 'best' for you.

I wouldn't personally rely on general gaming sites to rank sim racing titles myself.

Again, it's not solely a GT forum, hasn't been for a long time.
that I have been a part of for (checks profile) 20 years now. I've been a forum member longer than some members have been alive.
Length of membership has nothing to do with it, but if you like...

...I've got 23 years here, does that mean I win something?

I'm curious why the moderators keep trying to hone in on "best" when I clearly stated, and reiterated, "ONE of the best", which would mean that it is among the best out there. I'm not sure why that's in dispute or why I would have to defend it.

All I've seen is that you guy disagree. No examples as to why. I don't understand why I have to defend my statement, as the game celebrates 100 million sales and is likely to celebrate a 30th anniversary.

Ya, you win being a part of ONE OF THE BEST racing games in video game history.

Here's an idea, post up an article on the main page where the moderators vote and rank their top 10 best racing games in history. I'd be interested in seeing which 10 games you guys (collectively) think are better, unless of course, GT ends up in that top 10.

I've already explained this, and you have repeatedly missed the point.

Before anyone can classify a title as "one of the best" they need to define what 'best' means to them, i.e. what criteria are they using.

For example, GT7 is 'one of the best' looking racing titles around, but if that criterion isn't important to someone, then it's meaningless. If the criterion is accuracy of physics and FFB, then GT7 is good, but it's not 'one of the best'.
All I've seen is that you guy disagree.
Are we not allowed to?
No examples as to why.
Untrue. To quote myself "In my view, GT7 is one of the best-looking titles around, but it is far too unfocused and lacking in what are (for me) basic features, unfocused (but huge) car list, an unengaging driving model, and below-par FFB."
I don't understand why I have to defend my statement, as the game celebrates 100 million sales and is likely to celebrate a 30th anniversary.
Because this is a discussion forum, not a blog, others are perfectly free (as long as they stay within the AUP) to reply to you, and they don't have to agree with you. You don't have to "defend my statement", you are making a choice to do so.

That would be what's called a strawman logical fallacy, membership of GT Planet is not the same as being part of the GT racing series.

You seem to be mixing up the moderating staff with the writing staff, understandable as some overlap does exist, but not all those who write for the site moderate, and vice versa.

I think the argument comes down to "one of the best" being an objective statement on a subjective proposition.

There are probably people out there who seriously dislike classic GT, so to them it wouldn't be one of the best.

Critically though (in terms of scores) it historically has reviewed really highly. If you count that as objective then in that sense GT as a series is one of the best (or some of the games within the series).

You could argue these reviews are just another subjective opinion, which is true, though I do feel like there are some things that are objective qualities, such as visuals.

But when it comes to game design, ultimately, though there is what you would call established qualities in the industry, even that is not a monolith of opinion.

One could argue that a game should control as tightly as possible on the sticks, someone else might say "no, it should be slower for more immersion". I fall in the camp of "maximise the directness of control" but you could argue the other and end up possibly doing it in a way where the first person could be like "yeah, actually, this works". It depends on the game I think.

But I think even if there are agreements for some game design elements among developers/designers, it still comes down to a collection of individual opinions.

All that to say, I just think the issue is saying it's one of the best rather than "I think it's one of the best", since the former is an objective statement and the latter is subjective.

I would agree that GT is one of the best but that comes from my experience playing it and that I feel it (historically) blends really good gameplay feel with the career, the UI, the sound effects, all of it.

Critic reviews tend to be a good indication for me, but now I think of it, maybe not for everyone, depending on what they like in a game.
