Well, Gran Turismo on the whole appears at the top of the list of "best racing games" over and over, so I'll accept that it's one of the best.

You don't have to agree with me, and you don't have to agree with the myriad of reviews and articles that declare that it's one of the best. None the less, that there is a broad consensus that it is indeed "one of the best" is undeniable.

Given how the future of Forza is looking, it may become more about Gran Turismo in the future.

For clarification, when any studio becomes the "support" studio for someone else, it's usually a terminal state of affairs. It would appear that Forza is going on a long hiatus in favour of Forza Horizon.

The Crew Motorfest is also considered "one of the best" by many sites, and yet the passion does seem to be there. I interpret that as a judgement on the state of the game.

I have to say, this is an odd discussion. I never thought that declaring GT "one of the best" would be so controversial. 🤔 Especially not on a GT forum, that I have been a part of for (checks profile) 20 years now. I've been a forum member longer than some members have been alive.

The tire default is what the AI will use UNLESS you put them on RH. So, I put RH tires on everything. The positive side effect is that Sophy tends to play better on the RH tires. I have tuned all of my muscle cars to 650pp. I had a set up with all the muscle cars, but I have since decided to focus on the Pony cars.

Don't get me wrong, it is ABSOLUTLEY a hassle and you have to enjoy the process. I merely bring up the Sophy part to highlight what exists in the PS5 version at the moment. Note: The 429 is the best of the three, which is why I pass people. If I use the Challenger, I'm busting my butt to make a pass.

9 Days to go!!

I’m a comfort soft tire guy. Maybe that’s why I dislike it or gave up. Ran in a lobby of like 500pp with sports tires. Seemed like way too much traction. I have my “trans am” tunes at about 550-560pp on comfort soft. They’re a bit tricky to drive, more like real sims are. A bit slidey. Sophy can’t handle it then I guess if they don’t allow that.

Length of membership has nothing to do with it, but if you like...

...I've got 23 years here, does that mean I win something?
Huh, that's only two years more then me. For some reason, I was under the impression you were here for much longer
I suspect that they will get back to FM once they get FH6 out the door. Forza Motorsport is a very good and popular simcade. I hope they continue to move forward with the series.
Question is though, is that how current Microsoft feels about it? If they are bent on easy profit and Horizon does it easy enough, are they gonna see any value in having two Forza series in a post Xbox exclusive world?

Well, the good news is, they share a substantial amount of assets between Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport. That helps with the costs of development.

If you want to establish GT7 is undeniably "one of the best" you have to establish the criteria by which you are measuring it. Subjectively, it can both be one of the best and not depending on who you ask.
It's the best if you have a PS5 and have Sophy. Its's one of the worse GT's of all time if you have a PS4.

It will be some people's best I'm sure. It's not the worst GT on PS4 IMO, but it's in the bottom half of the numbered games.

Custom races with Sophy AI aren't enough to make it the best for me, but I place far more value in the journey, progression and balance of the game over just how good you can make a singe race. Some people are all about that single race experience.

At the end of the day, when something is subjective, no one is wrong as long as they aren't projecting their opinion onto other people. Then it might become wrong because the people you are projecting your opinion onto might not agree with the opinion you're projecting.

I am on the exact same page as you. Though, I personally haven't found Sophy AI to be good, and I prefer the existing AI that was shipped and updated.

I am glad there are others like me that prefer the journey/balance/progression.

9 days out, and still no price. Not that it matters, I will buy it no matter what.

For me, GT7 is the best one out of them all, aside from it missing tune sharing, car gifting and some other stuff.

Does that bit make the best driving experience. No. Not at all. It’s good enough to have fun with.

I don’t think it’s the best driving simulator out there but it has enough other stuff to draw you in. The livery editor is wild. Single player leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

So as far as Gran Turismo games go, it has the best graphics and the best sounds out of all of them, it’s missing some awesome original tracks and real tracks and the other things I mentioned.

I get it, and it would be nice if we could just force a specific tire in the race set up. The street cars are just too inconsistent in their default tires.

Oh well, this is what we got. Anyway, my point is that Sophy is a good experience, even though you currently have to fiddle with it.

To be clear, I said Gran Turismo, not specifically Gran Turismo 7.

That said, the other GT's are not currently on the market, and where do you draw the line in comparisons. Like, I loved GT3 and GT4, but would I rank wither of them above the games featuring multiplayer? No.

I agree. I’m sure Sophy is. It just sort of dictates how you need to drive against it.

I said it before but I think the tuning aspect of a Gran Turismo is the AI limiting factor (right now anyway) because I just can’t see how they can account for all kinds of different tunes.

Other racing sims that I’ve played, you can’t change your tire compound, you can change tire pressure however. Gran Turismo’s tire compound is interesting but it also throws a big wrench into the mix. But I’m sure glad we’re not stuck with sports or racing only. We usually throw lesser tires on so it feels less gamey.

I still wonder what this DLC is really about few days before its launch... I couldn't even list what would make me want to buy the DLC, there are so many. But I definitely have few red cards that would put me out :

- At the top spot figures rubber banding. That's clearly the one thing that would stop me from buying it.

- Then we have races designed as missions. If I have to pay for extra content, I would appreciate a fair replayability. So no imposed car as we can see with that Honda NSX GT500 '00, no fixed car grid (same opponent cars everytime I relaunch the event), nor scripted weather. Note that I can live very well with this kind of flaws as long as endurance races are not affected.

- "Realistic' grids crowded with VGTs.

- Finally, a detail that may not bother everyone : low effort liveries. We know they made liveries for old DTM cars, Group C cars, GT500. Yet I don't like what I see when it comes to GT3. Work in progress I hope.

All of this means there won't be a day one purchase for me. I'll have to wait for feedback from adventurous players who purchased the DLC as scouts. The wait won't be unbearable, there will be quite a lot to discover from Spec III before the first players start sharing their thoughts towards this Power Pack.

Not sure how this thread became a ranking of GT7 compared to other titles, but I personally think it's the worst of the Gran Turismo series (I haven't played Sport or 1).

-It requires an internet connection
-You can't restart your save file, and even if you could, there's no reason as the career is fully railroaded
-At first I liked the novelty of the "chase the rabbit" thing, but as the events got harder, it became frustrating as it might take over half a race to determine whether or not I even have a chance of catching up to the leader
-There are a bunch of gift cars in my garage that I'm not allowed to get rid of
-Trial Mountain kinda stinks now

There is an overall sense of "you'll do things the way PD wants you to do them" that did not exist in earlier games.

Hopefully the power pack includes special upgrades atleast for cars in certain events, as I see they have on based on the JGTC weekly events, it would be great if those could atleast get proper racing interior as it kind of makes no sense to do it for just the 930 and Beetle, especially seeing as the rally physics are absolute trash in this game.

They could just port the digital dash from one of the 3 JGTC cars onto the Diablo, F40, 993 and R32 and remove the passenger seat along with adding a proper harnessed racing seat for the driver.

Hopefully SOPHY learned to drive in the rain. Not much advance in AI if the normal programming is capable of staying on the imaginary zeros and ones and the agent can't.

Unless... GT SOPHY is refusing to drive on PD's wet programming feeling it's not real enough. :sly:

Whatever edition of the game I bought came with a Porsche concept, a Mazda VGT, and a Castrol Supra. The game calls them "gift cars", and they can't be sold or disposed of.
The two that can’t be sold are the Stealth RX-Vision and RB25. The Porsche and Supra DLC/gift cars can be deleted if you have two of each.

Ahh... thanks guys.

Did not know this.

Forgot to add the Country flag GR Yaris can be deleted as well.

your comment is a bit over the top 😁

Of course, all this is just my personal opinion:

Graphically, it's the best GranTurismo; in terms of performance, with the ability to play at 120 fps, it's the best; in terms of car physics, it's the best; in terms of the number of cars and circuits, with Spec III, I'm happy with it.
If Sophy 3.0 is like the first Sophy I played in beta, incredibly strong and combative at every turn, and we have points-based championships with race weekends consisting of practice, qualifying, and the race, for me, it will be the best, and I can't wait for December 4th.

To be honest If you think only about PS5 the statement that GT7 is one of the best isn’t far from true. Lets see… Rennsport is a dumpster fire, PMR too. We only had ACC which also isn’t the best version (although still great) and we have old ps4 games in backwards compatibility. Add to this only sim with VR support and yes it is the best… on PS5.

The only thing that interests me is seeing what this Sophy 3.0 will be like, so I'm just waiting for December 4th. The two missing cars don't interest me, there's the 296 GT3 and that's all I need.
