GT7 was supposed to be a PS5 exclusive at launch but the c19 debacle changed all of that, I think everyone has had plenty of time to upgrade to PS5 by now. I don't think PS4 has the power to run fully updated GT7.
You quoted me from long time ago since that quote I acquired a very well kept and very good PS5 from a very good man. I am still learning the details of using the PS5 and enjoying the lack of delays I used to endure with the PS4.

Kaz silhouette weekend!!

Please please something cool in those last 2 spaces.

Don't know if I would consider that peak game design.
Yet a vast improvement on playing catch the rabbit from 30 seconds or more behind when the race starts.

GT needs to return to grid starts as the standard format for their races. Catching the rabbit can make for an interesting mission type challenge, but it makes for a crap race.

Sure, we have Sophy making decent strides, albeit not without other issues at the moment, but GT8 really needs to improve on GT7 in a lot of ways IMO.

For race starts, GT1-3 were fine, GT4 onwards is when the series started the move to single file stretched out grids for... Reasons. Well, there are actual reasons, but it's still poor game design.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't consider the current starts an improvement (Especially when its a bigger number of the same silly spacially unaware AI), I just don't think its exactly ground breaking as that person seems to suggest.

I'd honesty would prefer just normal Grid starts with cars outside and inside like everyone else does (Standing or rolling start). I've never been a fan of these single file starts and they tend to feel more frustrating the harder the car is to drive.

Completely agreed. If Gran Turismo wants to resemble real racing, grid starts + qualy included in the base game is the way. I would also add more detail to the pitstop, atleast in sport mode, but thats ok if they dont want to. Another suggestion: A full license level called 'Racing Instructions' or 'How-To race' where you can learn different overtake techniques agaisnt IA, how to grid-start, etc.

Gran Turismo just need an AI like Driveclub or Grid Legends, Sophy is a good start.

Looking at the parts on the Porsche, I need those side mirrors for my fleet of RS 2.7s. I’m also hoping they’ll have similar versions for the 964 to finish off my Carrera Cup cars.

Please no. That's rubberbanding fest. Sophy is not even in the slightest comparable to those (amazing) arcade racers so no clue why you would mention Sophy.

A thought occurs: 24 hour race(s) in Gr.3. Is the BRZ GT300 going to be massively the meta due to its big natural tyre wear advantage?

It's already a gamechanger of an ability in 40 minute GTWS races, I worry it will be super OP with an even longer race with more tyres to burn through.

Wasn’t the 296 GT3 pretty good in the live events?

Based on the screenshots it’s looking like all of the events are going to have a pre-selected car, with all of them being the one in the event’s thumbnail.

So for the 24 hour Gr.3 race you’re probably going to be stuck using the 296 GT3

No, it doesn't look like that at all. The "Honda Civic - One-Make" event, in the screenshot shown here, doesn't have a car in the position that the All Japan GT Championship one does in the trailer (bottom-right of the little info box). So the screenshots are stating that only some of the events have pre-selected cars. Of course, it's possible things might change between the screenshots and released product (indeed, they changed a little between the screenshot and the video). But acting like all of them definitely have pre-selected cars is just rage bait. Even many of the current missions don't!

To appease all players it’s probably best, in PD logic, to have all cars pre-selected. There are going to be players that just don’t have all the cars. For sure, if it’s optional for players that have all cars, to use their garage car, that’d be great, but I feel Kaz would put players with all cars in a minority. He’s said it in regards to the reason why long time players would have to do licence tests in GT7.

No one is right or wrong. We’ll see how it is, but I wouldn’t count out all cars being pre-selected. It makes sense. I’d prefer to use my garage cars, but if I don’t have a car for. Specific race, especially a Legends Dealership car, how would I do the race?

Look at cars in both Used dealerships over the past couple weeks. We got cars that would have been used in those mock up screenshots. However, some are now gone won’t be seen for three to six months. The AE86 is currently available. So, maybe it’s smart for someone to buy a couple.

We don’t know if there are restrictions in tuning. Or how about people that just collect cars with standard bodies and don’t tune? If they want to run a race, they’ll have to suck it up and modify the car they didn’t want to modify.
Are PD going to do how they do with Weekly Challenge Special Picks? Would they make all cars available in the DLC only? It’s an open book until we get the details.

I find it strange in the Civic one make it doesn’t list any sort of PP requirement that one would need to look at to figure out which of their cars are allowed to enter.

Maybe it’s buried in the menus deeper but honestly the Power Pack UI seems kind of strange and barebones so far. But it could change in the release version ofc,

Also in the mission challenges where the car choice is up to the user, it has a little garage car icon on it, and there hasn’t been one of those in any of the videos yet. Also kinda strange they’d bury that in another menu. But anyways I digress.

Similar to the race with the Ferrari and Aston in the photo. The Civic race says 90s Civic, but the black ‘87 is in the photo.
Now, there’s an EK9 Cvic and the 22B currently in the UCD. Might mean something. Might not.

The player starts five seconds being the lead car in GT3/4 because there were only five other cars on the track…

As much as we love those games, let’s be honest that’s beyond outdated game design too. And the AI in GT3 and 4 I wouldn’t call extremely difficult either.

A full grid of Sophy with qualifying that’s coming in the campaign next week is the way forward IMO. They’re going in the right direction here.
And qualifying was involved in GT3 and GT4 (championships only).

About making improvements, what'd be considered as actually putting it into practice or not (ignoring)? As it seems that if the improvements take longer time, it's also considered as ignoring and never working on said problems.

And if the game isn't made to be what certain players want (e.g. what kind of events in game), then it'd still get hate for said 'cons' to them, with them being seen as the right one. Seems GT can never be like TXR by this point where nobody has beef with it and dislike it.

But what'd you think if the AI, with grid starts and qualifying, is the same as the current AI right now? They'd still deserve to be bashed then.

You mean about Sophy still being much worse to those amazing arcade racers? People are still hating on GT/PD for how Sophy performs regarding AI so it's still not nearly enough, they can't ever make good AI, so those examples are good to follow.

It should resemble those motorsport-based racing game's career where they do have pre-selected cars, but you can choose which team to enter thus giving you different choices of the same discipline, rather than it being like Missions.

If you really think PD would get away with recreating a Driveclub AI which is capable of rubberbanding 50 km/h above top speed on straights to catch up and GT players would love that, you clearly have no clue about the differences between a game like Driveclub and Gran Turismo.

I suppose rubber banding will be removed since we will now have “real” endurance races and qualifications.

Especially since the current endurance races with Sophy are a joke as soon as there are pit stops.

I can't wait to hear the latest news about it. Maybe rain?
Maybe more interesting behavior like in the beta, which I loved. It's a shame that its vicious side was removed.

Maybe we'll finally have AI that each have their own abilities, which will make single-model races different from a freight train.

That would be a nice change from the strange races we get when there's only one vehicle model.

As of this very moment, I am installing my old PS4 data onto my brand new heavily discounted Black Friday deal PS5 disc edition. Still cost me a small fortune though at €440. 2nd hands were no cheaper. I just hope I can get the GT7 data to work because the PS5 did not recognise my PS4 GT7 disc.

I donated my PS4 to my daughter and was several weeks without but couldn't bear it any longer. I went to Coolblue and purchased the PS5 this morning. I still have mixed feelings about the heavy price, but to wait any longer is not a possibility any more.

If I can't get the PS4 GT7 updated and upgraded, I will buy the PS5 GT7 disc anyway and start over. Gran Turismo has been with me since 1997 and it's impossible for me to not have it. I FOMO 'd big time and wish I had reacted more sensible before.

You won’t need to start over as long as you log in with the same PSN to your PS5

OMG, I placed the disc upside down in the console 🤣🤣. I looked it up, you actually have to turn around the disc, the artwork facing down, when the console is horizontal placed 🤷

Edit : just bought the €10 upgrade to PS5 edition 👌

Huh.

My PS5 is horizontal, and the artwork on the disc is always facing up.
