I would love too if they added a way to customize the difficulty more in-depth in the full Career Mode such as Turning On/Off penalties, Lowering/Increasing Rubberbanding, forcing assists On/Off, etc. Heck, maybe throwing in a bit more credits for doing so like Forza does to incentivize doing so.

Update: And adding the option to turn off the auto-reset for going cutting outwards off-track. I just got it happen in Le Mans for going ever so slightly off in the final chicane and they set me back all the way back of it.

I'm a bit confused.

Does this mean the awards for customized cars, usually given out at SEMA, are being brought back and held this same weekend?

But SEMA is in Las Vegas, and the GT World Series is in Los Angeles, right?

Also, the announcement mentions that the awarded cars will be exhibited outside the theater in Los Angeles where the GT World Series is taking place.

Does this imply that the GT Awards for tuned cars are now a separate event from SEMA? Are they asking car modification specialists to come to Los Angeles in direct competition with the SEMA Show?

It seems like there's a geographical and scheduling conflict if these events are related. Can anyone clarify the connection or separation between the SEMA GT Awards and this exhibition at the GT World Series in LA?

Yes. It's for local car tuners this time. Basically apply, show up, be judged, win, get scanned.
Isn't scheduling this tuning show directly alongside SEMA a bit of a stretch, and risking the biggest tuning garages in Los Angeles not showing up because they'll be in Las Vegas for SEMA?

Fortunately it's not my job to justify it.

Also SEMA runs from November 4th-7th, and GTWS is 300 miles down the I-15 on the 8th.

Please someone make another Pozzi Camaro type build. I miss that car.

Even though the rusty E28 was a bit much, would have made a fine alternative for a Group 5 build to go with the Skyline.

Neither of the Spec III circuits will be in competition use then, but fittingly 3 circuits all in the United States. All real world circuits too.
I think that is not surprising, competitors probably prefer tracks they already know well.

True, competitors likely do prefer the familiarity.
Though that hasn't stopped Polyphony from using new content not yet available in the public build of the game before. That new content was also one of the main draws for viewers.
I suppose if the tracks are going to feature at all in competition this year, it would make the most sense at the Grand Final itself.

All this news about Polyphony doing things in China reminded me of this from 2016.
Nearly a decade later, and nothing came of it sadly. But maybe this new interest in Chinese cars & the Chinese market in general could get the ball rolling again.
Also this comment seemed to age well quickly lol, with that promo video shot at the circuit.
Not that it's confirmation of the Shanghai International Circuit actually coming to the game, but it's nice to see it not just be a completely dead rumour from 10 years ago now.

The lead time for the last few SEMA cars, while not quite as bad as some of the outstanding Pebble Beach cars, was still over half a decade from victory to game.

If I were the winner of this contest, I'd be expecting the car to get in probably in a content update mid-way through GT8's lifecycle.

Since Spec III isn't coming until December, I've decided to do 1.63 shared content statistics at the end of this month.

The RAV4 has an unusually high number of shared styles for a crossover SUV (a widely derided genre of cars), so I guess its tuning potential and the taxi signage (non-widebody Side Type B) gives a boost, although the other stats remained low (while the Elantra and FJ40V tops out the top-two in average numbers). Meanwhile, the Roadster 12R stats seems to be tanked by the lack of tuning, with many not knowing the true reason why it cannot yet be tuned for now.

EDIT: RAV4 stats has been corrected, I accidentally put up "all" numbers (48 pages at the time) for "styles" instead. I discovered this during the overall year-end stats counting.

I'm so looking forward to this.
I think we might see an official update trailer for this one. With all cars revealed, and maybe some features worth showing on trailer. Similar situation was with eiger update.

I might be going too far on this one, who knows, but... I hope Drivetrain swaps will someday become a feature in the future of the Gran Turismo Franchise.
I think that is too far. It all depends on the amount of cars that options could be available.
If it was 2 or 3 cars then it might be fine I think.

The car doesn't need to be tuned because it's already good enough.

Since t can't be tuned(read lowered and negative camber), players are missing out on replicating the S-Tai cars. It's all about the look wanting be achieved.

I'd think the lack of a hard top is the most glaring difference between the 12R and STai cars  I had predicted that the 12R would be modelled with its roof up, given that the S had its roof and windows down and the NR-A had its roof down and windows up. Seemed almost like a pattern, but if it makes sense, PD probably aren't doing it

Exactly. They’re killing us with the lack top options. Certain vehicles get full on body altering options with kitchens and some with widebody strakes on the sides. A hardtop for MX-5s would have to be one of the easiest optional accessories to model.
Many of us members were predicting the RF at some point. Getting the 12R as a Mazda priority, seems like a roof on an ND Roadster isn’t at the top of the list. Especially since GT Sport.

I find it really interesting how your statistics indicate that "meme cars" seem to be the most popular in styles for virtually every update by a large margin. I would have thought the Elantra would be the most popular because of its TCR version's success and the fact that the game allows you to create an almost exact replica of this race car (That's why I've made 9 of them).

I'm not judging though, apparently a large portion of GT7's playerbase are not into motorsports as much as I would have thought.
