It's not even the cars you'd expect getting the blowback - the C5 comes up a lot more than you'd think in that comment section as something people don't think was a good add because it's old.

Even so, it's really not a healthy place to be as a generalist car game if all of your vocal fanbase is trained to think only a certain subset of cars (seemingly race cars and 202X European sports cars) matter.

So they're idiots with very weird opinions who don't need to be listened to. Seems quite simple to me.

This is the discussion thread for an article on GTPlanet:

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.61 Confirmed for July 24: Three New Cars, New Races, and GT Sophy Events

As we’ve been expecting since the pre-update teaser over the weekend, the next Gran Turismo 7 update is on its way this week, and we now have confirmation of most of the contents and the timing...
-The Z-Tune, yes! Glad to see another Nismo model, for sure! Hopefully the R33 GT-R LM Road Going Version isn't too far behind, as well. I would not doubt the Z-Tune getting the either the R92CP engine like the R34 V-Spec II Nur, the GT-R GT500 engine, or possibly the engine from the GT-R Nismo '17 - though my bet is on one of the latter two.

-The N-One seems really cool, I love the design. I'm totally down for more kei cars in general! I bet it'll get a Honda engine for a potential swap, just like the Beat and S660. It just seems like it could be a serious blast to drive, and who knows what sort of custom parts it'll have from GT Auto?

-The Qashqai? Well sure, it's both an SUV and an EV, but on the other hand, I think it makes perfect sense to add it, seeing how we already have SUVs/crossovers from a lot of the other major Japanese automakers. Heck, now I'm genuinely hoping that a Subaru Forester will join the Qashqai/CX-30/CR-V/C-HR - and the 2008 - especially if it's the Japan-exclusive Forester STI. Given the trend of newer SUVs/cross-overs getting added, though, I imagine that a newer Forester model is far more likely, but I wouldn't mind that, either. Who knows, maybe we'll get a Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross, too, alongside the far more iconic 2nd-gen Eclipse - but I digress.

The events make perfect sense, too! I wonder if my Suzuki Jimny will be best for the new Lightweight K Cup round, seeing how a 4WD car would likely fare better around all the curves of the Nordschleife?

I beg to differ.

The C5 had the lowest average number of pages of shared content among cars released between January to May this year among the non-SUVs (data as of June). The Superfast (released that same update), Ioniq, and Z4 have a narrowly similar, if very slightly higher, numbers, for comparison.

I found the C5 stats surprising, since I think completing the missing link in Corvette generations should result it being a more popular car.

Honestly, whatever I might think of this update when it lands on my PS5, I got to hand it to Polyphony Digital.

Before reading about this update in the article by @Famine I had ZERO knowledge about N-ONE or even a Z-Tune Nismo. But this isn’t new, this has been the case since I first played the first Gran Turismo. This franchise is not just about racing, it is about car culture and learning about cars, history and future. How many cars would I be totally unaware of if it wasn’t for Gran Turismo?

I pride myself in knowing a lot about cars, but every new GT, every new patch, every new article and thread here on GTP, I learn that there is so much I don’t know, and that there is so much left to learn.

I may not be very excited about the Qashqai CVT, but reading about that Nismo Z-Tune… Man, that thing is really cool. Also looking forward for some possible engine swaps for the N-One.

The V-spec already gets the R92CP engine, so no need for that.

The GT500 V8 engine has a good torque curve but only goes up to 840bhp even with high RPM turbo.

The Nismo LM 3.0 V6 gets more peak bhp than the V8 but even that stays below the 1000bhp mark like the R92CP engine. (Yes, I did buy the damn thing and checked it myself since no-one was helpfull enough to provide any info, even after asking multiple times. Sold that abomination right away :yuck:)

I hope it gets one of the R35 (Nismo?) engines so we can push it past the 1000bhp mark, fuel effiency be damned.

Is it a 'generalist' car game though? The name of the game is literally GT cars.
Gran Turismo simply means "Grand Touring" or "Grand Tourer" (can't remember the exact translation), and references the road car type, not the racing cars. I'm not sure what you're trying to prove by focusing on the franchise's name.

Growing up on Gran Turismo led to me making a very interesting financial decision... so I can attest to this.

Yes, it can mean "Great journey" too, I guess.
If I recorded, this must be a word created on 1700's, on Europe, so far before the creation of the first patent motor carriage, made by Carl Benz and Gotileb Damlier, in 1886.
It must be related, on that era, to a type of sports praticated with horses.
And very old type of rally, or something similar.

I'm quite glad that the Z-Tune is coming to the game, let alone make its first appearance in the series! Guess eventually a livery of this would pop-up soon:

Sure, there's some minor details that can't be replicated with some of the GT Auto parts, but finally after two years it can be closely replicated in a GT game.
As for the N-One? It's neat. The Qkuashkuai? I wished it was the Juke instead...

Sorry for the silly question. This update is out today right?
In just under 5hr, though you'll have to wait for the maintenance period to finish (2hr later) for it to be playable again.

I always put these timings into the GTPlanet article.

Yes, essentially that's my point. The name suggests the game is primarily about sporty road cars.

I think all the half-done other stuff they tag on, like rallying and f1 style cars detracts from the core offering

The comments sections of the video posted to both Playstation's YT page and Gran Turismo TV's YT page are gold.

The priorities of what people want in GT7 are uuh, interesting. I love the idea of PD actually looking at the last comment, not understanding sarcasm and just saying "yay, job done. Let's add more cars like this"
