Gran Turismo - Open World Freeroam? (Read OP)

What is Forza Horizon even about I know it's Separate game, but is it suppose to be like NFS Hot Pursuit 2010 or something?

Or is it just a free roam with no racing just driving around?

I'm sorry, but TDU doesn't compare to GT5.

And for Forza Horizon. I'm thinking its something what Fast and the Furious people would've came up with if they were still around. Its has speeding through roads and challenging other racers on the streets in it, so its no different since OTHER games did it as well. Despite it having a festival as its story, barn finds and gas stations.

For me, I'll like to see what the GT series will come up with this idea.

I'm not sure that I would want free roam or not. I play Gran Turismo for legal trackday racing. If I want free roam then IMO Need For Speed does the job nicely 👍 .

Unfortunately the only good NFS Free roam games are all PS2 titles though.

I still have them. And I do agree the Free Roam in NFS games have become rubbish since Need For Speed moved on to the PS3.

As long as it was not the entire basis of the game and instead a nice little subsection that you can enter for just a bit of fun, then yes, I am all for it! But I don't want to have to drive around for ages from one race to the next as that bores the crap outta me.

I still have them. And I do agree the Free Roam in NFS games have become rubbish since Need For Speed moved on to the PS3.

NFS games in general have become rubbish since NFS has moved to PS3. After playing demos of all of them (except the original NFS Shift which I bought when I originally got my PS3), I'm glad I haven't wasted my money. I bought the Original NFS Most Wanted (PS2 game) the other day on PSN for nostalgia reasons. I'm hoping the new version of Most Wanted on PS3 coming out will be a good game, but I'm not holding my breath.

Edit: To keep this relevant to GT6, I Wouldn't want free roam to be a huge selling point in the game (dev time should be used elsewhere, there are plenty of improvements In the core game that need to be made), but I think it would be a great addition, especially from a social point of view. Imagine of when you changed to a car, instead of having GT Life icons, you actually got in the selected car and drove to the garage, GT Auto, Tuning shop, etc (obviously everything would be in close proximity to each other).

Im sure its been said already but this game is not an mmorpg having an open free roaming world would be pointless and a massive waste of the games resources, that could go into improving on the game rather than being spent on novel ideas.

I wouldn't say freeroam in the sense of a fully open city like the TDU or the PS2 NFS titles, I support a freeroam like the gymkhana track that was on GT4 but on a slightly bigger scale and with 2-3 different environments beyond the blank pavement, ala the warehouses/ salvage yards that appear in Forza or Dirt ( I forget which)...what I wholeheartedly support (but kinda realize won't happen) is a model of the tokyo expressway system akin to the Tokyo extreme racer series...some extremely basic A.I. standard vehicles as traffic cars only and the ability to turn off/up traffic...it won't happen but I can dream

I'll LOVE to enjoy watching my driver sleep in my super car parked outside a windy road watching the beautiful scenery.

If you heard about forza horizion thier making a street racing game but in gt5 wouldnt it be cool if you forgot about pushin a button and jumping to the dealership or to your races or to other stuff and instead use free roam to drive thier and still have the option to bounce thier (not from main menu) from in game gps but testing your cars on the way there without traffic so instead you could change the gt5 select stuff and make it into a world without it kind of like burnout pardise or need for speed carbon but without traffic (or cops) that would be pretty sweet of course im not trying to change the point of view here im just giving my opinion of it but your ideas still would be better.

Seeing the title to this thread, I thought it would be a stupid idea, but it actually doesn't sound half bad. I don't think, however, it's a necessity. PD needs to focus on bigger things before they start focusing on little gimmicks like this. If they can fit it though without sacrificing things like graphics and physics, then it's welcomed by me.

the only way this would work IMO is if gt life is a city like environment and u have to drive to every location ex: dealership and A-spec races
