It is said with love and affection slip haha

GT isn't a full-on sim, and I doubt it'll ever aim to be: that's not where commercial success lies. iRacing has a total of what, 60,000 subscribers?
That's basically how I feel about this, I don't think GT (despite however PD will market a GT game) will be a hardcore sim racer.

and more frankly, I honestly don't want it to become one either. I might sound silly for this, but I feel that if GT became a hardcore sim racer like iRacing; it just wouldn't feel like Gran Turismo anymore.

I love the way 2 or 3 people are suggesting the whole gaming world start defining their favourite game with a word they personally prefer.

Anyway, if GTS is released in November will it be feature complete on release? It may have the m0st features in the franchise's history ( if you believe this) but it's not going to look good if hardly any of them are in at launch.

Luckely its not November yet!

I dont give a rats ass how we call it, i start reading here on GT Planet because i love GT so whatever people say or call it. This is my racing game that i want the most! Perfect? Now but witch game is? Nice pyssics Asetto, but geahics crap, menu crap and so on..... i love GT because its a well desinged game because its GT because i feel iam good in the Nordscleife witch my asome Corvette Gr3. Its hard enough to do laps without any mistake so its not that easy but also not to hard that i get sweat on my head, if i want that i take a real car and go to real ring! Thats real racing and if yoy have the change try it sometime because there is no game that simulates the real deal.

Now please let us enjoy GT because thats where this started with and hopefully stays focused on.

Like other games? Now problem go to those forums and let us be loving Granturismo with all its flaws! Because GT is life, o wait now its getting cheesy haha

That's where their tagline suits them: Real Driving Simulator. I want as much simulation as possible physics-wise, but I am not interested in setting up cars for a 30 lap race - just the good-'ol 3-5 lap Clubman Cup:tup:

It seems that they are trying to add that to their commercial success with Sport mode. I always refer back to the copper box championship, because it seemed really interesting the way drivers had to drive slowly and were forbidden to overtake after serious wrecks - there's been a lot of mention of safety cars, and flag waving, so I'm curious to see how all of that will culminate.

PD seems pretty set on the whole Sports initiative and I don't see them backing off. If they don't nail it with GT Sport, they will continuously refine it over the next title.

Arcade games, by definition, are not simulations or simulators.

Opinions do not matter, only the facts matter.

Is that the correct term? The answer is no.

That sim-cade debate has been going on since Gran Turismo 3.

Simulation-arcade debate:irked:?
At the end of the day, GT Sport (and all other racing games), is a game made purely for an entertainment purpose.
If you want realism/physics go and jump in an actual car for a drive and stop the childish debate whether it's a sim or whatever - because it is just a game at the end of the day. That will be forgotten one day, sitting on a shelf collecting when you have moved onto the next GranTurismo or other racing game.

This is what I do: Do I have fun playing it? Yes - then keep playing, No - oh well move onto something else and all other aspects irrelevant.

Say, if the PS5 comes out in a year and a half, will PD port it over? I mean, this time, cars will last for about ten(?) years. Right?

Reading through the last couple of pages has been absolutely hilarious. I cannot believe people are still arguing about whether GT is simulation, simcade or arcade. Does it matter that much for soo many of you? I don't care if it's simcade, that doesn't bother me one bit. I care more about my enjoyment - a game can be the most realistic simulator ever but if it doesn't please me or give me a fun time, I won't bother wasting my time with it. Just because a game is simulation doesn't mean you have to enjoy it and accept it as the best thing ever.

Who cares!

Everyone who cares about the truth and correctness.

...Uhh, okay. Still not seeing much correlation between this and what you've quoted from my post, though.

I will explain. No one drives their car in the physical reality with a DualShock 4. Also, there is nothing to simplify. Car controls are simple. Almost all cars have a steering wheel and two pedals. The brake and the throttle. If it has a manual transmission, it has a gear stick, and there is a third pedal, called the clutch.

Cars are not space shuttles. Mommies and grannies drive just fine in the physical reality. :P

Real≠Difficult.

Enough with that "hardcore" nonsense. iRacing is online-only, it has no road-legal vehicles, and it is designed for people who care about online racing only.

Also, we do not want a simulator that requires an internet connection in order to use it.

GTS' simulation being of the highest fidelity possible will not make it more 'difficult' and less enjoyable. Only clueless people say things like that.

I watched a few videos of the arcade version. It is a driving simulator. I never said that you cannot find simulators in amusement arcades. When I said arcade games, I meant and mean products like Ridge Racer and Daytona USA.

This is where you lose touch with reality, people want to know what type of racing game they are going to buy BEFORE they buy it that's why simcade defines it perfectly.

What? That made no sense.

F355 challenge? Pfft, I preferred Sega Super GT cus it was 'simcade' ;) Ferrari F40 every time.

I'm pretty happy in this forum among others, thank you very much. Think I'll stay a while if it's ok with you.

I meant other subforums wise nose. Again not so serious pfff cant post anything witout somebody feels offended or whatever.

Sega rally 1995/2 ftw!!!

Nah, I'm with @bdj57 on this - F355 all the way!

Actually, why don't we have an extended argument about our favourite arcade game!?

Someone has to be a bit arsey to start it all off. So I can do that if you like, wait for you to reply, then accuse you all of fanatically 'defending' your choice! That's how it works around here right?

First of all, I never said that it would make it too "difficult". When I refer to a sim as "hardcore", I mean on how realistic they make the experience from the features provided to the likes of physics. Anyway, that wasn't my point at all; my point was that GT going completely the route of a hardcore sim like iRacing would not make it feel like Gran Turismo anymore. It would lose what made it Gran Turismo in the first place and become too serious.

IMO this is a very common misunderstanding. More realistic physics don't necessarily make cars harder to drive especially in the Gran Turismo context. There are more than enough driving aids, tire options and controller optimization in a GT game to make all cars relatively easy to drive, even with AC or PCars style of physics. The physics don't change the surrounding game, it would still be a GT game, whatever that means in the GTS context that is.

Sorry...dp

I appreciate that English is not your first language, but really:
Luckely ... pyssics ... Asetto ... geahics ... desinged ... iam ... Nordscleife ... witch ... asome ... yoy
Ignoring the words that are literally the names of things and thus easy to get right, this just looks like someone's battering a keyboard at maximum speed without a care in the world for making any actual sense.

Slow. The hell. Down. Take time and care over your posts. Use a spellchecker. You've agreed to this:

You will post all messages in English.
You will not use “textspeak” (“r”, “u”, “plz”, etc.) in your messages. Decent grammar is expected at all times, including proper usage of capital letters.
You don't get an entirely free pass to spout gibberish because English isn't your first language. You've agreed to use English and with decent grammar, when you could freely have not agreed to.

You don't get a free pass for insulting other people either.

I meant other subforums wise nose.
You are also a wise nose
If you can't address other people in a civil manner, do not post.

Nor do you get to dictate where people post or what they must post about.

Like other games? Now problem go to those forums and let us be loving Granturismo with all its flaws!
People are free to discuss the flaws if that's what they wish to discuss.

I know. I've played Assetto Corsa and Raceroom Racing experience and haven't had a hard time driving in both of those sims with a controller. The only time a sim has given me trouble is Project CARS, but I think that was due to poor controller optimization.
