Give the McLaren a go... I matched my 911 laptime on my first lap, and it feels really stable....
Yes, definitely try the McLaren. Fast enough, stable, good grip out of the slow stuff (I have it on TC1 but it probably doesn't even need it, unlike the Ferrari or Genesis for example). Only issue is mid-range acceleration - I believe it is now the slowest Gr3 in the 100kph to 150kph test - so likely to get mugged off a rolling start.

That would be interesting to know for sure. But you need like a tablet and one of those companion dash sim apps connected to actually see that right? That to me seems kind of lame considering ACC shows that data right on screen for you.

Yeah you need the app to have a live tyre temp info. If PD are making tyres temperature sensitive they need to include that info in the hud.
I did a test of the brake bias. Now I tried to replicate the daily c conditions, but in a AI lobby race. Shifting the BB to +5 did save the front left tyre a little better. Looks like it helps but I’m not sure if its massively important.

Did a test myself - had a panic as the tyres were shredded by half distance. Only realised when I checked the replay that I’d started on softs. D’oh.

For the actual race it should be a pretty straighforward (and maybe boring) sprint. No strategy at all. I still had 2 laps left of fuel at the finish, that’s just shifting normally around 75-80% on the rev bar.
Ive done a test run on Interlagos & Daytona in the Audi R8.
Interlagos - fuel I think I had about 1 lap left in the end and I was going flat out. Tyres I think were about 60% worn but still had loads of grip
Daytona - fuel I cross the line with 0.01 fuel. Didn’t have to really manage it much, just needed to short shift it every so often. Tyres i think were about 70% worn but again not an issue.
Both races are just straight forward sprints.

They sort of do.
There's a box around the main tyre blob. If it's blue they are cold (only really seen at Route X), red then too hot. (Such as when you spin). Otherwise they are normal temp.

wouldn't exactly call a 26 lap long race a sprint!? :D (the F1 sprint race at this track is 24 laps though)

I did another test race this morning nad averaged about the same as earlier, little improvement overall and finally got under 1.34 at lap 17.

Have to say that all three test races were actually a lot of fun to drive, in each I had an AI car at my tail for most of the race fighting for 1st place so it wasn't just straightforward doing laps....

Anything under 2 hours is a sprint

My lap times were around 1:35, for the clean ones - I kept getting track limits at one particular corner. No penalty zone so was having to simulate the slow-down time loss (I like to keep things realistic).

Wishing I hadn't jumped the gun and signed up with AMG before testing the new BoP - it's really been nerfed in top-end speed and not so settled now out of the slow corners, had to resort to TC2.

Right, for Nations I probably practice with these:
FR: Genesis, M6, Supra
MR: 911, 650s, RS01, Huracan
Really liking the RS01 after most recent update, so it may be an option 🤔
Can’t see anything beating that Supra unfortunately.
On the main straight most cars max out at 158mph/254kph, Supra max out at 163mph/262kph. Also it’s gets the top speed so much quicker.

Ive tried GTR, Hyundai, M6, RS01, Audi and I’m a 1 second slower. If I remember this track doesn’t off much overtaking apart from the pit straight.

Well we'll see. Had a busy day yesterday, so only managed to practice briefly with the Supra early today morning. 1.48.2 but honestly I could maybe do a high 1.47. I did feel a lot of understeer in the hairpins, so perhaps trying something MR then. Struggling with the track a bit.

I will try RS01 and a couple others MR too. Race starts luckily 8 pm my local time so I have more time to practice and decide, since a more "normal day".

Ran the final slot in Oceania with about 10 laps practice. So grabbed the Hyundai since I ran it all week when it was a daily here. It's slow on the straight but ok on the rest. Nope. Toyota and PD teamed up to suck the fun out of this. 10 drivers, I start p7.

Good start and mixing it up until I wobble exiting the final chicane on lap 1 and 2 behind me get past. That was basically the race. The end. Someone ahead wrecked and I was long gone before they recovered and I caught a McLaren that got past me on lap 1 by being on softs and passed when they ran waaay deep at turn 1. Ended up p7 anyway.

The Supra is a joke. I could drive like hell, gain 4 tenths through the track and that thing gaps me by a second on the straight. I could gain 2 tenths on it most laps just exiting that chicane, and it's all gone again by the time I hit the tunnel. Just ridiculously obvious stupidly overpowered paid for cow droppings the way that car is right now.

But someone who dropped into our split won in an RCZ, so there's that. Ignore the next 5 all being Supras. Whatever you do grab the fastest thing for that straight that you can handle.

Did the 12 midday slot.

Went with the Supra because well…what chance do you have in other cars. Also I’m hoping the more people that pick the Supra, PD might look a the stats and think they is an issue here. I’m tempted to pick Toyota in the Manufactures too now just to flood the lobbies with Supras.

Quali - poor quali from me. First lap I got a tyre on the dirt in sector 2, and the way the curb edge works it one of those curbs that sucks you further off track and I got a track limits pen! 1st lap destroyed but had to complete the 2nd with a half second. Managed to post a low 1.49

Race - starting in P9 and I go for RM to start. Top 9 cars were all Supras and the rest of the grid were single make cars. Lap 1 had an RS01 just launch it from 1 seconds back in sector 2 just before the first bridge. Luckily I saw the lung and managed to steer away. On the pit straight I just breezed past the RS01. I make a few overtakes and a few penalties helped me in the opening 5 laps and managed to get to up to P5. End of lap 5 I pit for the softs. I come out 6 seconds behind last place (in P13). I was hoping the last car would be further up the road on pit exit but by the next lap I’m on the back of P12. There in a supra too, and I just couldn’t get past. Spent 2 laps stuck behind P12 and cost me about 3/4 seconds. I managed to finally pass P12 & P11 as these driver had some sort of grudge and they wiped each other off the track. Luckily I avoided it. After the round of pit stops I’m in P6. I had 6 laps then to defend a fast approaching RCZ and also gain on the mediums up again. The driver in the RCZ must have had a poor quali as they were flying and finished P3 in the end. Last lap in P6 I’m right behind the driver who didn’t pit and they defending for some reason, and this cost ended up costing me a place to P7 who was on fresher softs. Managed to pass P6 (the non stopper) on the line to take P6.
P6 & 92 points. I’ll take that. Not exactly a fun race. I reckon P4 or P5 was the cards, but the early pit stop and been stuck behind slower cars cost me time and that extra rubber at the end to defend.

Added Grand Valley to the (albeit short) list of tracks I've managed to win at. Interestingly I'm yet to win at any of the tracks I won in GT Sport.

Had an okay qualifying (P4) but could've challenged for P1. Dropped to P7(?) on the first lap but made my way back to P3 well before my pit stop. Top 2 decided to pit twice during the race. They were definitely faster than me though so would have been P3 otherwise. It was a decent mix of different cars in my lobby, I think there were only 3 or 4 Supras, couple of McLarens (mine included), a pair of 911s, a DBR9, a Ford GT, a RX-Vision and a Beetle. Can't remember the rest.

Snake Eyes Racing will be broadcasting in car camera footage of most AM races and two PM races from California's Grand Valley Highway 1 (PCH).

9AM PST on Jessica's 2 Car Garage link in the signature 😎

AM Races What to do!

🤬 When real life traffic only leaves you two PM races!

PM Races What not to do! Friends don't let Friends drive angry 😤

Well, looks like I found a track I am absolutely useless at, aka Grand Valley Hwy 1. Felt like I should have raced with B DR drivers here holy cow. So with like 10K+ DR points lower drivers. 16 sec off P12, very nice..🤡 Just can't get anything going on this track, no rhythm whatsoever..

How much pace was I lacking? Well 1 sec per lap in the meta Supra 🙈 That is just really not possible to find that much more pace ever imo, given the experience I already have in GT7. Safe to say, I will not race here in the near future.

I wonder if it is the car and track combo, but I suspect I have issues with this track is the bigger reason. Even though I've noticed lately that my pace in gr3 is pretty bad too. Solid season anyway with 340 pts, but worrying that my gr3 pace is somewhat bad and that I can be this useless on a certain race track 😮‍💨

I just did 11 laps on Mediums and then 6 on Soft, but there was still a good few laps left in the softs at the end, and I actually set the fastest first sector of the whole field on lap 16/17 so I should have changed of Mediums sooner!

Edit - I saw other people who started on softs pitting around lap 10.

If you are good on tires, you can do 10 on softs. I started to lose pace on lap 8, felt like 9 laps was max for me on softs.

Thank you.

I'm not great with tires so it seems like I will run 9M/8S then.

I tested the AMG, 911, and Supra last night (in that order). Each car was faster than the previous one and I would like to think that I was just getting better with each lap but the Supra on the straight just keeps accelerating. I can't decide.....

Thats the strat I wish I used, but was still happy overall, the next car ahead was +10sec so prob didn't make a difference.

I used the Supra, and it was fun. I don't use it often as it has been skittish in the past but it felt balanced, you get a bonus down the straight and it rotates well so you have room to adjust your line mid corner which helps as I'm still new to this course.

I did my qually times and realised they just weren't good enough to be both competitive and enjoy.

I don't like the track, I find the corners deliberately awkward for the cars and we'll just not fun.

This one is t for me. You gotta know when to hold'em and know when to fold'em

16 soft - if you drive slow enough.

Would not recommend.
I think this madness deserves some explanation.

Add me to the club that can't figure this track out. No clue what I'm doing in sector 2. Was 2 secs off the low B pace in qualification, ended up unlucky 13th in the McLaren. As the race was going to be a disaster anyway I decided to try something Ferrari-ish and went for the idiotic M-S-S 2-stopper, pitting end of lap 1.

Image-2.jpeg

Made back some time on the midfield runners but not as much as I hoped. Midrace around the time for stop 2, I look at my minimal tyre wear and think "what the hell, let's be dumb, if you pit you'll be last anyway".

Image-1.jpeg

Last couple of laps were a bit of an adventure, including some track limit penalties that I really don't understand - no clue where I was off track. Brought it home though for a top 10.

My worst score of the mini-season but a fun test in the end. Still will likely give this track a miss in the future, for Sport mode anyway, I don't mind it offline in road cars.

@SnakeEyes427

I caught a bit of your stream. Did you pit early for the undercut?

For anyone else racing, how long do the softs last? They seem like they could last 9-10 laps. What is everyone seeing in their races?
The RS fell off to good RM times at the end of 8 laps for me. If I wasn't helped around the corners. 🙄

*Also, I prefer the RM tires for there constancy.

I thought your name seemed familiar - I was in there suffering with you! I was in the Ford GT LM. That race was a complete disaster for me as well. I screwed up my first flying lap in quali with a track limits penalty but thankfully stuck the second for P5. I thought I'd start on the Mediums but that could well have been the worst possible decision I could have made.

Trying to get around in the relatively understeery GT LM on cold Mediums in dirty air with Supras on Softs being ultra aggressive behind is not fun. I was just pressured into mistake after mistake and fell all the way to the back. Trying to work my way back up afterwards was damn near impossible, it's so difficult to pass someone here.

My second attempt went slightly better although it was in a much stronger lobby. I was in with some people with A for SR so I think I'd done my rating a bit of damage in the first one. Started P11, finished P9 thanks to some major mistakes from others. Besides that, it was a bit processional other than being divebombed from space by a Nissan into the tight sector 1 hairpin and then undercutting him to get back in front. Just ended up stuck behind a Supra the whole way through my second stint, completely unable to get past.

I think I might give the Manufacturers a miss and take a short break, then come back for the main season. I'm on a bit of a downward spiral at the moment, lots of races going badly. Maybe I need a chance to disengage and come back with a fresh perspective...

Was able to do the 3:00 EST time slot (8:00PM there?) in the #3 EMEA account (cuz, you know... it's a time slot I am available for unlike my #1 account which is only at night! PD!!! ).

Picked the Supra as I assumed most people would but I was kinda surprised to see a couple of Alfas and Porsches. Anyway, I got a flippen track limit pen on my first of two quali laps on the last chicane (I still claim I didn't touch any of the bollards!) so it nullified my first lap and I had to take the .500" the second lap. That's another WTF from PD... if someone gets a track limit pen, nullify that lap but don't screw with the next one.:banghead:

Anyway, because of those I started P8. I would've started P1 or P2 (we both had the same time to the tenths but I don't recall any further out than that) on my first lap that got nullified. Started on RMs and of course, right in the mid field, it was bumper cars. I got rear ended twice and pushed off the track once in the first two lap... none of the guilty drivers bothered to wait. Was able to make my way though the field, pitted on lap seven, and ran the RS the rest of the way. Finished P2.

I think I could've won it had it not been for that one pixel wide pen on my first quali lap but whatever. I like this combo so I still had some fun with it.

Had a great and intense race tonight with @icycls and I believe @jimihemmy was in there too. If it was you, sorry for not saying hi because I thought that name was familiar and came back to this thread and saw it may have been you.

Thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and qualified with a 1:48.09 and my best in practice was a 1:47.90 so I was super happy to finally get in a decent qt.
Placed me p4 on this grid which is about my best start in this type of event.

I raced the RCZ and did well hanging on in p3-p4 for 6-7 laps by drafting the supras on the finish straight.
I was getting a lot of pressure coming into one of the turns just before the first tunnel and spun a little bit and then got whacked into facing backwards as the guy following had no way to avoid me.

Got going again and was in p7 with p6 and p5 right in front of me. Their pace wasn’t very consistent and it was tough following very closely so couldn’t find a good pass and I pitted on lap 9 for my RM’s.

I moved up to p6 in a few laps after the pit and caught up to p4 and p5 with three about laps to go. P5 had a small spin right after the chicane but I couldn’t get by before the bridge so I bump drafted him a few times and then I caught a little bit of the finish straight tunnel as I was leaving it and killed my speed on the long straight.
This brought p7 supra on my tail and bearing down quick.

Last lap feeling a ton of pressure i slightly overcooked the right hairpin at t4 I think it was. P5 was a little outside so I ended up bumping him enough to knock and slow him but not off course at all. I slowed down on the edge and let him by and I was barely able to stay ahead of p7.

Nail biter through the remainder of the final lap with a Supra running me down coming out of the tunnel on the finish straight. He was drafting me and went for the pass at about the 150 mark and he got beside me but didn’t make it before the line. I was sure he was going by and I’m not sure if he just let me have p6 because I was certain that the Supra was going to take me once he started the pass. Adrenaline race for the duration lol.

Had great fun with all three events and looking forward to the Manu race this weekend.

Yeah, all three nations races with you - fun! That lobby was worth quite a few points.

Unfortunately my race... not so much. I had a busy day and just wasn't settled and not mentally up for it. Lots of self-inflicted mistakes in the first half. Settled down and put in my 5 fastest laps all after lap 12 on the RMs. Finished P12.

I almost never repeat these races and certainly not back-to-back, but I couldn't let that go and thought I was settled enough. Plus, I like driving this track. So I jumped in again, similar lobby with the same points. Qualied P8. Ran decent laps, keeping pace, no self-inficted wounds. But... was spun on t1 while in P7, he waited (kudos) although we both gave up a position. Later in the final laps (15?) I was punted in the twisty section, he didn't wait, gave up three positions. Finished P11. I felt I had a P7 or 8 in me, but was denied. Happens.
