I suggest people leave the ghost on and learn to see through it because its faster, having a perfect reference in front of you helps you brake in exactly the right place and feel the correct corner speed by purposely matching the same corner speed as the ghost. I have done my best time without the ghost but only after learning the track for weeks with it on.
Download one of the top 3 ghosts follow it and roll out of the corners gradually pressing(not stamping on) the throttle after flicking the handbrake button midcorner in all slow and medium corners. Nearly did a 20.6 just now just stuck a wheel on the sand ended up all but matching my fastest. Oh well I think I might've improved by around 1am.

It does seem like 3rd and 4th place drivers complete T1 with paddle shift and pause the game then switch to manual H-shifter. Also appears that everyone in the top 20 is a G25 user.

looking at the utube video that looks great its obvious that the in car view is favourite my question is
is this just for replays or is that what view people are using
post your view that you use here and we can see what is most popular
i also noticed on the gt tv vid that shows the new wheel the games designer also has the in car view setup

Its just a few days left and even though I can't participate I have been following this thread to see how my fellow GTP drivers are doing. I think I need an update on the top 20 from all the participating countries. And good luck to everyone.
 
whats up with{i am egg}?... two wall hits and now he is in 10th..... on the uk/ie leaderbord.. this lap he done should be scrapped...
 
I'm starting to prepare for the final even though its a bit early I can't improve on my time without going nuts at it for another 4 hours. I'm going through some of the other cars and tracks this week now.
Its good to sit on bumpers of the fastest times in the time trials (non-wallbangers) you can see how doable their times are even though there's big gaps but I've improved 3 seconds in that Eiger track without a massive change of lines, just using the grip more efficiently.
I'm looking forward to see the final results and I don't expect everyone to turn up in the final either so I hope they invite reserves(21-25th ?).

Well, maybe because some in the top 20 are just in for this part of the competition and don't have the will and/or time (work, school, etc.) to go all the way, and thus will forfeit their top-20 place to a lesser God. :)

why is {i am egg} still in the top 20?.. who do you call to get it taken down from the uk/ie leadtable.. its not right that he may get through on a CHEATTIME...... mr..i am egg... if your out there...you have let your side down by putting that lap in. and the sad part is you have the speed to put in an honest lap...shame on you....

i am egg will be dealt with I'm sure. Few of the guys on the UK forum have reported that lap. The wall riders a few weeks ago were removed and that link http://uk.playstation.com/help-support/grief-reporting/ does work.

i_am_egg lap is still there Thursday morning.

I'm sure Sphinx will whip out the G25 and clutch in the last few hours and do a 120.300/400

Does anyone know something about that GT5 update? I read there the all online rankings will be deleted, so how about this GT academy, if I update tomorrow morning my time lap will disappears...
 
The online ranking will only be deleted on August 1st, and this stage of the Academy ends before that. Besides, I think the rankings that will be deleted are the arcade time trial/drift rankings, not the online ones (unless the online time trial events finish on that day, but still they usually keep them for some more weeks for us to see the results).

I'am actually 20th:nervous: and should not be anymore in 2 days if I can't do better...:yuck:..... the worst is when I check other countries and see that with this time I would be top 10 anywhere else.... Are french faster ???

Anyway, I will do my best to be part of it but, i'm actually getting sick of that combo... 2 weeks less would have be better 👍

Maybe, but also France is one of the largest countries competing, so I would guess that the chance of having better drivers is higher than in most other countries. :)

I have not been trying to improve my lap time for over a week and noticed that I have dropped to 35th place (from 18th) with a louzy 1.21.5xx. :sick:

I've given up, combining my best sector times, I would get no better than a 1.20.9, and that just won't do. The heart is not in it anymore and thus the concentration. The best of driving to the rest of you. :)

Timppaq, are you still standing on the "pole position"? Last time I played I was 29th on the finnish rankings (with nick glutao).

Hi WayneGT

Is any one in the top 10-20 switching to auto shift before the corners, then on the straight they switch it back to manual clutch? How many are doing this tactic.
 
I don't think too many are using this in France.... Not in top 20 anyway

All players are using Clutch and Top 20 might be for sure under 1.20.600 and even 1.20.580 :nervous:

I can clearly see myself a 1.20.4xx but tried last week and still cannot improve :scared:
