Nice, love the Silvia conversion (woulda done it myself, but I wanted to be a bit different so I'm going with R32).

BTW, are there are lot of people with Silvia conversions in Cali? I always see complaints of too many people having the conversion and that's it played out, but in my neck of the woods (South Texas) I haven't seen a single one outside of a show.

sorry to revive this thread...and i know some admin is gonna move it cuz they seem to be move-happy lately...but yeah, i do usually go to race legal.

RoxxorJoorSoxxo: there arent really that many people who have silvia conversions, the only ones i've seen in real life are people that i know, my friend adrian has a black S13 with the silvia front, there's a guy rolling around with the same car as me, same color, but with the silvia front, and theres the guy i took pictures of. thats it for the S13 front, and i've seen one S14 with an S15 front. i also saw an RPS13 with an S15 front, but that was in LA, and LA has anything you could ever possibly want.

heres an updated pic of my car as of today, i put a zenki lip on =]

I heard some references to right hand drive cars and I was just wondering one thing.

WHY?????!!!!

There is nothing cool about a right hand drive car, it's the same as a left drive car just reversed. I mean, it's just not cool. I personally can't wait to get back home to my 85 Camaro left driven muscle car. The only thing is that I've been driving and drifting these right hand drive cars for so long now that I probably will have to get used to my Camaro all over again. I'll go to shift and roll down the window or something.

But seriously, I don't think it's worth the money just to be able to steer from the other side of your car, that's just my opinion though, I mean, I see so many of these import and rice rocket mags selling their RHD conversions for umpteen thousand dollars and cars that are sold for upwards of 30,000 for a used car just because it's modded and right hand drive. If you recall, RHD came around because Americas instructions on how to make cars were interpreted backwards so the gas tanks and wheels got put on the wrong sides, along with the fluid containers and drive trains (the drive train thing is just a joke).

I just had to get that off of my chest, I don't see what's so cool about right hand drive cars but, hey, if you want a way to blow your money, that's one of them. It's right up there with actuators and black alloys.

Nah, LHD shifting is way better. I'd much rather be shifting with my right hand than left.

I don't mean to be rude or anything but you sound SOOO much like the RICEBOYS from my home town.

"Oh, I would kill for a RHD whatever."
"Oh wow, you drive on the WRONG side of the car, that is so cool."
"All the chicks would dig me if I shift with my left hand."

It's just absurd. There is nothing and I mean NOTHING special about a car with the steering wheel on the wrong side.

Yes, it is the wrong side, because if you check your history you will see that America, gave plans for roads and cars to other countries, and it was interpreted incorrectly. So what happened, people in other countries began driving on the WRONG side of the road and on the WRONG side of their cars.

That's the plain and simple truth.

And the fact that you go all googly over a freaking car that has the steering wheel on the opposite side is truely laughable.

But other than that I like you so it's cool.

LOL d00d u got it ALL wrong.
i dont like RHD cuz of the fact its from japan etc, like i said i find the throws more fun, in a LHD i LOVE shifting into 4th cuz all u gotta do is slam the stick back with no angle, same goes for 2nd and 4th gears in a RHD, so yah,
and you say AMERICA had plans to make cars they sent out to other countries????/

sorry thats just BULL to me, all amercans origintated from where???
U.K., and what side do they drive on in the u.k? hmmmmmmm, i think we can see what country is getting the "wrong message"

Not to get argumentative but...

1: Your point about shifting positions makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Please enlighten us. I was under the impression the stick goes back for 2nd and 4th here too, but obviously I'm mistaken.

2: Yes, Americans originally migrated from Europe (not U.K.) but that was before automobiles were invented. Americans invented the automobile and so we made the first pass at the standards. It has nothing to do with America being better or whatever, it's just simple timing. If Japan had invented the automobile, they probably would've decided LHD just like we did, and made sure everyone else understood, and we'd probably all be driving LHD. Too bad. Profit and miscommunication are our two specialties, so it's no surprise how things turned out.

i am not arguing i just like these factual posts. you are WRONG, americans DID NOT invent the automobile LOL, sorry but look up ur history man. the first car was created in 1698 by Englishman Thomas Sauvery, it was a steam engine and it was very primitive. Then, in the late 1700's, 2 GERMAN inventors created the first Gas-powered cars, they were Gottleib Daimler and Karl Benz. so i proved you wrong rite there.
Secondly, there really isnt an actual way of determining why people in the U.K. decided to drive on the left side of the road.
but they do that in basically the historical CENTRES of the world, wich is the U.K., and Japan.
although they do drive on the right side in germany and other european countries, as well as china and india... the fact is in historical terms, england was creating roads for cars on there side, and germany created them on the other side, sort of like a reason of difference...so technically no one knows who did what first.

now back to my shifting thing......
i cant really explain it, yeah in LHD and RHD the patterns are the SAME, but its just a thing, when ur throwing those gears back in the same way ud throw a ball behind ur back, its just a driving thing, i just dont like the feeling of pulling the stick towoards me into second. in a RHD id be able to throw it back and away from me.....its a hand positioning thing...if u watch some in-car racing vids of japanese drivers on touge and on the track...ull see that some of them have turned shifting into an artform, in which they dont even move there arms, its the wrist that does all the action, and this "art form" is more desirable in a RHD.

i hope i cleared it all up.

edit posted the same time as above^^ they are synonomous statements.

you are 100% correct pergatory the first time

the transmissions / relative shift positions are the same for RHD AND their LHD counter parts.

example: there is no difference between a jdm 180sx trany and an 180 sx american trany.

So whatever gear shifter position/direction you shift with in the states will be the exact same for japtransmissions.
you still work left to right /down up down up :dunce:

RHD cars are unique in the states. get one, you'll stand out :D
LHD are just as sought after here in okinawa, its a real luxury :D
\o/ whoot

I want an MR2, but my dad wants me to get a safer car...uggh
I get to start out with my sister's 99 2 door coupe accord (black). Then I get to buy a car at 18. I hope I can get the VW Golf R32. I hope it's safe enough for him and it has decent power ^_^. Hope it'll drift well heh

R32's are fantastic machines. They are a bit heavy, for their size, but the AWD helps quite a bit. I own a 91 VW Jetta GLI Wolfsburg Edition, and I love it. However, I would love to have an AWD VeeDub. ;)

I have a car not worth mentioning but saving my money and having my pops get me a 90 model 240SX coupe... and I have enough for the S13 conversion, full mandrel bend exhaust... blah, blah, blah... (oh and of course the SR20 first and for most)

I do have enough for the car... but why buy something when someone else offers too... so I am going to keep my money... say I have none... and then when I get it... restore. :)
