GTSport charting makes sense since if we're looking at Kudos prime -- the last 3 weeks in 2018 have seen a huge influx of new users. GTSport did well this holiday season.

I'd love to know how much they're making on MTs.

Battlefield 4 did better than Battlefield 1? Some of these old names popping up are so random, and the fact that these older games are popping up doing better than newer ones makes it interesting

Endnight games' one is doing well I see! Hoping to see more from them!

(sorry for the off-topic, but it's great to see one of your favorite game on the list) :)

They tend to put the old game on sale with huge discounts when releasing new games. Full games at less than £5. Including season passes for well under £10.

Would certainly be interesting. A couple of purchases every 6 months and that’s £8-£10 per year additional revenue. Many will obviously pay nothing. Others will buy dozens.

The rise in numbers is not a surprise at all, SONY invested a lot of money in the live events, and it's paying off. Best live events for eSports in a long time. They were in the TV news, and even in local newspapers. That means exposure, exposure means more players. The more the merrier.

All that exposure must be in Europe, because I havn't seen a single GTS add over here in about a year.

Canada is not a major market for PD, Europe is.
I was surprised that they didn't bring the finals to London, instead of Monaco. There is no much market for them in Monaco, just millionaires that live in casinos and yachts, with all due respect. UK is second in players numbers, they should organize an event here.

I think it's very probable at this moment that GTSport will outsell GT6 (not by a lot). It's what I was expecting and I'm willing to bet PD will be pleased enough with the result.

Huh, so NFS Payback outsold it on PSN in 2018? That's... surprising.

Interestingly, what the EMEAA sales tells us is that, by combining other regions and including digital, the UK isn't really an accurate showcase of the rest*. I know that GT's strongest market is Europe, but there's a wide range of tastes there.

For reference, here's the GfK physical sales placements from the last three months in the UK. Dates, titles, and their chart placements in brackets:

  • 29 Sep - PCARS 2 (20), F1 2018 (13)
  • 06 Oct - FH4 (3), PCARS2 (9), FM7 (12), F1 2018 (14)
  • 13 Oct - FH4 (5), PCARS2 (13), F1 2018 (18), FM7 (25)
  • 20 Oct - FH4 (5), FM7 (27) F1 2018 (32) PCARS 2 (35)
  • 27 Oct - FH4 (4), FM7 (11), PCARS2 (32), F1 2018 (37)
  • 03 Nov - FH4 (4), FM7 (14), PCARS2 (17), F1 2018 (37)
  • 10 Nov - FH4 (4), FM7 (25), PCARS2 (35)
  • 17 Nov - FH4 (11)
  • 24 Nov - FH4 (5), PCARS2 (23), FM7 (34), F1 2018 (39)
  • 01 Dec - FH4 (5), F1 2018 (30), PCARS2 (36), FM7 (38)
  • 08 Dec - FH4 (17)
  • 15 Dec - FH4 (8)
  • 22 Dec - FH4 (10)
  • 29 Dec - FH4 (6)
  • 05 Jan - FH4 (6), PCARS2 (38)
GT Sport hasn't shown up once, but I'm guessing the digital take-rate has only increased over the past year, especially with it showing up in the sale section of PSN fairly consistently. I'm not sure about the other racing games' digital take-rates, but I know that Forza titles typically have a higher-than-average one, so that's something to keep in mind.

* - Of course, with FH4 being set in the UK, that might explain its relatively strong showing in its native chart. I'd also consider it and Germany the two most racing-obsessed markets (they're both in the top five overall, too), and neither are included in any form in EMEAA, so there's that.

@SlipZtrEm Do the physical sales include bundles? because FH4 is bundled a lot which might explain it charting. That and the fact it's by far and away the best MS first party game.

Now the Uk is included right?

GTS above Spiderman is really remarkable

I dunno, $19 vs. $59 for one of the longest standing PS franchises.

The real remarkable thing is GTAV being in the top 10 for almost 6 years.

At the moment GTS costs 40€ on the EU PS store and 30€ on Amazon...

GTS above all the other sony exclusives (and 13 positions above FH4) 16 months after the release is REALLY remarkable.

To be fair Europe is Gran Turismo biggest market. It's nice to see it charting high on the list though.

The new "My PS4 Life2 videos that you can get generated produce an interesting stat, which is how many other people have got your rarest trophy, and its been used to get an idea of how many people have played various titles. Now while its not 100% accurate in terms of sales units (multiple accounts, sharing games, etc) it does prove quite interesting.

You can create your own videos here, and this is mine:

The site pulling the titles together is here, and the racing title results are as follows:

  • Dirt 4 (global) 745,000
  • F1 2017 (global) 996,000
  • GT Sport (global) 7,230,000
  • Need for Speed (global) 9,730,000
  • NFS Payback (global) 4,390,000
  • Project Cars (global) 2,480,000
  • Dakar 18 (global) 11,155
  • Assetto Corsa (global) 98,000*

* Indicates provisional number due to 0.1% trophy.

My own rarest is for Dakar 18, The Navigator trophy, which 502 other people earned and 4.5% of Dakar 18 player had earned. which gives Dakar 18 total global players/sales of 11,155 on PS4!

Feel free to add your own and we can update as the results come in (please post a link to the video so we can verify).

Time for an update on this:

  • Dirt 4 (global) 761,000
  • F1 2017 (global) 996,000
  • GT Sport (global) 6,600,000
  • Need for Speed (global) 9,460,000
  • NFS Payback (global) 4,450,000
  • Project Cars (global) 2,480,000
  • Dakar 18 (global) 11,155
  • Assetto Corsa (global w/o Korea) 681,000
  • Burnout Paradise (EU and Australia) 275,000
  • Driveclub (global) 10,500,000
  • Driveclub VR (global) 494,000
  • The Crew (global) 5,050,000
  • The Crew 2 (global) 1,020,000
  • Trackmania Turbo (global) 4,550,000
  • Trials Fusion (global) 5,240,000
Interesting to see as more data has come in how some of them have shifted (in particular as some of the 0.1% ones have been replaced by more accurate ones).

Main notes are that GTS has dropped to 6.6 million from 7.23 million (which is still a very respectable number); we now have a more accurate number for AC, which is sitting at 681,000.

However the stand out is that we now have Burnout which is hitting 10.5 million for the original and just under half a million for DCVR, for a total just shy of 11 million. Which I maintain support Sony were utterly daft to have shut down Evolution.

The real standout there for me is The Crew 2. Yikes.

Yep, but it did get slated at review for being very content light and boring in comparison to the first (which was a cracking title in my view).

Oh, it's definitely not a great game, but that kind of drop-off in sales (if these numbers are even ballpark representative), does not spell good things for the future of that series, and maybe that studio.

So that’s four months without GTS appearing in the Top 40 in the UK. It looks like nearly every Euro country’s individual charts have Spider-Man far ahead, so I’m wondering what’s swinging (ba-dum-tish) it for EMEAA.

The faster full digital sales are counted the better.

Ah, NFS Payback is above GTS. Going by some folks’ logic, I guess that makes it the better game...
