battle stage or something? its not an initial D title
its a drifting game and the stages are hell nice to drive on
handling is.. well.. manageable since i haven't drifted in real life b4.. its got most of the stages in initial d! :p theres about 8 stages (don't know if it includes reverse track) and i could finish all but the 8th one..

u should try it.. pretty good
:)

i tried it in KL (msia) & singapore and had a lot of fun with it.. (wallet got a bit light).

too bad they don't have this game and initD's Arcade Stage's in perth :(

u mean battle gear? Its coming out for PS2 too.. Battle Gear 2.. check google or somethin'.. Battle gear is also another " Drift Arcade" same as ID. I played them both.. its quite cool, but Battle Gear has more choices of cars then ID Battle Stage 2.. I.e Supra, Lancers, Altezzas , Integras , Civics, FC, FD.. etc etc etc..

Battle Gear...Don't like the steering wheel. Too lose compared to Initial D, but a fine arcade game. Tell me if you see it on the West Coast!

Tell me if u see it on the West Coast of Australia aka perth! :]

Why is everyone so obsessed with the Initial D Arcade Stage game?

Are your fanboy obsessions blinding you from the fact that the game sucks, and is nothing more than a bland festival of wall riding and understeer?

I mean c'mon, for a Anime so focused on "drifting" you'd think that the game would carry that on, but no it doesn't. The cars turn like a brick, and don't drift at all. The regulars that play it all day long just floor it and hump the walls like there's no tomorrow. The game is terrible.

Battle Gear 2 is what Initial D Arcade should have been.

probably a fanboy :p but since i haven't seen it let alone played on it, i can't judge it yet. from wat ur saying.. sounds like a crappy game.. sure u have the right game? i know theres a really really old initial d racing game which came out when initial d first came out (mid 90s i think) and that one sucked.. if its arcade stage, i thought the screenshots looked pretty good and i think i saw some drifting going on there.. anyhow i'll see for myself :]

hmm goto www.battlegear.net and have a look at the screen shots at battle gear 3! looks bludy nice :]

if u can't be stuffed navigating then go here..

http://www.battlegear.net/seihin/gallery.html

graphics not as good as gt3 of course but gameplay on battle gear was good and i sure wasn't complaining bout the graphics :]

Evo4, yeah I'm sure I have the right game. Unless we're all talking about a version 2 that I haven't seen yet.:p

The Initial D thing really isn't anything spectacular at all. The graphics suck too. It's selling purely on the basis of its being called Initial D. The whole "you get a card" thing to save your progress is and mods is nice, but who cares, the driving itself is *that* bad.

Thanks for the link....... sweet, I can't wait!

This looks like a really really narrow street:

Hehehehe... that gives me a headache:

Edit: oh gosh... little X's..... o well.

Oh come on! Wall-riding and understeer? You must suck. Now, I don't know where the hell you hang out with, but their performance (And most probably yours) is not a worthy gauge on the game itself. Think about it. What else do we Americans have to play? Games made in like 1991, that I wouldn't force my worst enemy to play. Nascar and SanFrancisco Rush 2049. The graphics are okay, but if you want something say, like PS2 standards, you won't find it in an arcade game.

Plus, most of my friends (like 50/70) have never even heard of Initial D in their lives, but they still continue to play the game, and have a heckuva good time doing it. And, yeah, you can't really drift in that game. Big deal, at least i turns in enough to look like drifting when you watch replays.

Hmm ok i just started drifting. Bought a cheap little car (AE86 since it was a fairly controllible oversteering car as i remembered it from early on in GT#) 2lvl NA Full exaust normal tires 1st or second weight loss, 3disc clutch, full race flywheel and carbon fiber driveshaft. Now i have managed some drifts but my real problem is that i can't manage to get em to last longer. I can pretty regularly (ruffly 7 out of 10 times) get a drift on a few corners in Midway (turn 1 and turn 2 (the one after the chicane) and sometimes the chicane before the tight hairpin. Any ideas? I was contemplating a bit more power since i am under 190hp right now. I would use the sim tires, but i am using the dpad and buttons for this so they were just way too much for me.

how bout less hp and use the sim tyres..
maybe try to get used to the analog sticks..

but isn't the DS2 D-pad also pressure sensitive?

Well i have tried all of that, still a bit twitchy for me (those sticks just don't work that well for me, being a pc guy for the most part). I have found though that the Audi S4 stock susp. 1st stage turbo and racing intercooler, plus 2nd stg weight reduction and a few other odds and ends on stock tires is much more forgiving and is allowing me to get the hang of drifting so i may run with it for a while instead. oh and no hand brake used either.

I suck? I can keep off the walls, which is really all there is to it. Why did they even bother putting in a brake pedal?

Wall Riding. Yeap. The game barely punishes you for this.

Understeer. You said it yourself that you can't really drift in it.

You Americans can play BattleGear2 instead. Heck even the Daytona series is better. And then there's Ferrari F355 Challenge.

The graphics in Initial D are pretty dismal.

But hey, if you and your friends enjoy it, it doesn't matter what I think.

Yeah, sorry, was a little defensive, tired from playing Initial D all day. And does anyone know if there is a Battle Gear 2 anywhere?

oh on the wall riding thing, most people use the Rx-7 FD3s, yea you can wall ride with that because of its acceleration, but i chose the FC3s, and if i touch teh wall at all, it kills my acceleration

Just wondering if anyone can do a zero counter drift in GT3?

Because I was driving in rally and some of the corners to hold a drift I just entered the corner as usual and the camber of the road just kept it drifting. I think I even managed to do it by accident in the R390 racer on SSR5 wet. The fun thing is after the initial turn in I let go of the analog stick and I was able to control the drift with just the throttle. Although these incidents were caused by the camber of the road and a wet surface. Maybe I could try this with exhibition duriftoing?

wat's zero counter drift?

just a drift based on throttle input only?
it happens, but only when i luck it out..
just happen to have everything perfectly placed.
entry speed, weight transfer, drift angle, throttle input (100% mostly for me) etc..

that's probably 'the' fastest way to drift and the drift angle is prolly too small to be useful in a replay.. actually unless u either get ur car really sideways or have lots of smoke, it just doesn't seem like a drift in the replay...

best prolly for drift-type 1on1s.. :)

oh.. u don't need a wet surface either :p

have fun driftin!

=========
there i was just-a driftin thru the streets
singin doo-a-di-di di-di dum di-di do
in my silvia just as happy as can be
singin doo-a-di-di di-di dum di-di do
it looks good! it looks fine!
it looks good! it looks fine!
gonna do it one more time! :)

btw..

does any1 have any gt3 grp drifts (2 or more)
that would be really neat to watch :p

and err.. any1 with links to full-on touge drift battles (1v1)?
i only have that 'fcdrift.mpg' and that gets my adrenalin going real bad :P fav clip of all

I restarted my GT3 sim mode save and it just seems to happen by accident. My second car was an elise and it has a very twitchy rear end, it had semi-racing suspension and around 270bhp. I know what you mean about it not looking good, but it is cool as hell when you pull it off, I just let go of the steering analog stick completely and the car turns in by itself.

in one of the drift videos i think called "XImagine" or something, it shows a Mercedes stopped on complex string but the rear wheels are burning against the ground. How do u do that? Ive tried many different ways, but couldnt get it..?

LoL! If you can't stay off the walls, then you must suck.. Initial D is the best, you "DRIFT" if you know how, and obviously you don't know how, wall hugging? Try down shifting and coming out of the corner upshifting! It works in GT3 too! It gives you more grip..

caralot:
i dunno wat merc burnout ur referring to (vid clip prolly too big for me to dl), but its not that hard..
unless ur referring to some weird combo from drift into burnout, then i guess its hard but perhaps try doing it as 2 seperate things and slowly piece it together..

or do i have no idea wat u are referring to?

"To get the car to turn sideways, would it also work if you used handbrake to get the car sideways, then countersteer?"

yea it'll work.. ;)

Hey everyone, Im not dead if thats what you all thought. Im slowly learning how to drift, and Im looking into a wheel. If your asking how to do a burnout, then I might have an answer for you. Turn off asm/tcs and make the back shocks really hard, the fronts really soft, and get a whole lotta horses. Jam the gas, and your little wheels should spin their little hearts out. What Im wondering, is how I DONT do that...

I have my Sprinter here, ~350hp, and when I turn off my TCS, I cant even get off the line...takes me about a minute to got from 0 to 60 beacuse my wheels just keep spinning and spinning and spinning...the only way I can find to fix that is to turn my TCS on at 1. I think shortening my first few gears might help a little, but I hate messing with gear ratios...takes waaay to long, and autogearing is so easy....anything I can do to fix it?
