Why waste all that time and effort on Blow Off valves, CAI's, Cat-backs, huge assed rim's etc.? They don't offer that much in terms of performance (especially rims they actually hinder performance). So wtf is the point? This is a GT game not NFS:U or the like.

for example IRL i have a 4inch stainless steel mandrel bent cat back RS*R exhaust and a HKS pod filter fitted to my R33 skyline, i would like to be able to do these (or similar) type of mods in the game. instead of the lame stage 1 exhaust/filter.... yay i gain 10hp![]()
ummm well tire size does improve handling and why not study the parts all in detail make some parts cost more than other and actually have a difference in HP gain
Not entirely correct - By enlarging the rim, and thus lowering the tire profile, the profile of the tire will have less play (35 profile vs. mid 70s style high performance 60 profile - get the picture) which results in firmer contact with the asphalt - and thereby providing better grip...Originally posted by live4speed
A wider tyre can improve grip, increasing it's radius so it will go on bigger rims wont improve grip though.
Depends on the car. Some cars have terribly restritive exhausts/turbos/intercoolers, etc. where bolt on replacements can provide very significant increases in performance.Originally posted by Hyperglide
Good points. All that stuff gives you mediocre bonuses. Bolt on's are nice for adding sounds and looks to your cars but they don't offer much performance wise. Maybe 10-20 hp.
I think you should tell that to most racing teams, where wheel size is as large as possible. Check out the difference in F1 wheel sizes 20 years ago compared to today.
Sure tire size helps, with grip and handling if they are wide. But Rim size doesn't. Also, IRL bigger tire sizes cost a lot more and eat way more gas. I just think they'd look pretty dumb in a GT game. 17" is a good medium for me I think, on most cars.
Wheel sizes aren't as large as possible in racing series' quite the opposite actually. I'll expand on your F1 example, they use 13" forged magnesium alloy wheels, the sidewalls are quite a high-profile. If you look at most racing series, their wheel sizes are not as large as possible, they usually have a fairly high-profile tire equipped.Originally posted by Glut

As long as you're fitting light weight wheels there should be no loss in performance over stock, where cost is usually more important than weight.
But an F1 car weighs in at what ?... 650kg wet ?... And the tires are how wide ?... They can afford to run high profile tirewalls where a 1200kg much slower *TCC (replace * with S or E) have to have a much lower profile as it puts much more stress on the tirewall and a higher profile would cause loss of feel due to flex....Originally posted by Majarvis

Nitrouse is not allowed in any form of circuit racing I know of, only some classes of dragsters use it, so if nitrouse is in GT4, it has to be limited to drag racing only, the game would shift into the arcade racing type if it featured in circuit racing, because that just doesn't happen. When was the last time Shumacher switched on his NOS on the home straight at Monza, or Labonti (I think thats spelt right), switching his on as he speeds round the Charlotte oval.
If we can customize spoilers in GT4, it would affect the handling in grip.

This little road could be one of 20 or so random journeys(to cut out the bordom of the same road).Once in the tuning village you could drive into whatever garage you wanted depending what mods you wanted. This would add a little more depth to the tuning option.
