Guilty. Pre-orders usually sound pointless to me but going by past hardships I went through with previous GT games and the limited amount of time I'll have this winter, I decided to make it easier on myself, just a bit.

Question about the present (stealth) cars, they appear to be carbon fibre, does this confirm some sort of body replacement option, or do we think this is only for the stealth cars:

I think the panels themselves aren't CF, they announced it as livery so I don;t know if it's just a CF overlay or what. Maybe the final weight of the vehicle will clue us in a bit more.

This, of course, assumes that your store in question will allow the refund of the opened product or of a product with used code.


The DLC codes are given as part of the purchase of the product. "Free" or not, it is part of the collective price you paid. If you use the code, you have now rendered that part unusable to any future person, meaning you don't have the exact same product as before. Defrauding the company by telling them that you didn't use the code wouldn't necessarily be piracy, but it's definitely theft by fraud.

DLC codes are not given as part of the purchase though. They are given for pre-orders. At least the ones in question. They are pre-order bonuses, so if I did happen to return, say, my CE after release day, nobody else could ever pre-order the game anyways, so the bonuses would never go to someone else.

Why do you not want to support Polyphony anyways? You're getting plenty of other stuff well worth the extra $40. Why do you wish to deprive Polyphony of their earnings?

My understanding is that most people who are talking about potentially manipulating the system are doing so to get the pre-order bonuses that are available at different chains, exclusively (which in itself is an annoying trend, really). I don't really think someone should have to pay more than the price of one copy of the game to get a handful of special models because the current industry practice is to splinter off the bonuses to as many chains as possible...

EDIT: And how do you even know that the term "Free," as they use it, doesn't just refer to its use on the store? Most DLC like that you'd have to pay for, but they're giving you a code to get it for $0.00 instead.

...which is why I think all of these pre-order bonuses will be grouped as free DLC in a few months, just like PSP did with a very similar situation. So I don't really see why people are going to be going through the hassle of collecting them via pre-order, but hey, nothing's certain.

I believe, since 4 of the 5 vendors listed on gran tourismo's official site have promo's going on for purchasing the game from them (this is the US version of the site) I don't see why Target wouldn't have a promo for pre-ordering. I believe they are waiting till the last minute to give-up the goods. 2 cents...

If there's one company out of the 4 or 5 that should've had pre-order info up as soon as possible, it's TARGET. Stupid of them to wait til the last minute while all other stores eat up the pre-orders.
It would be funny of TARGET got some version of the special edition.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do a 2 for like gamestop, since TARGET has a NASCAR car in the game and then 1 of the 2 stealth cars still up for grabs in the US. My problem, TARGET isn't like gamestop. I don't think they care enough to do all that. To them, GT5 isn't like a CoD (which is stupid, it should be considered in the same sales potential) Anyway, if I find out something I'll post it here.

Because orange is exclusive. No diecast company makes an orange SLS, so hopefully, it will be worth more in the future.

I've pre-ordered the Signature Edition in Germany. The price was ~180 EUR. Now I was informed that Sony has increased the price to 229.99 EUR. At another web shop I saw a similar announcement.

Has anyone else heard about this price increase? Amazon.fr still lists it at ~180 EUR...

How would that change anything? The number of orange SLS cars will still be the same. The car likely comes in a plastic hard box anyway so no worry of nicking it or anything.

If you mean you have ordered the CE, no, you do not get any stealth cars with it. In the UK, those only come with the SE or standard copies.

from what i heard, you get a chance to win the car based on how you drive in the game and in some real-life challenges. heck, it'll be a helluva win for some lucky guy/girl.

I was under the impression its going to be similar to the driver academy. you have to place in the top XXX to be sent somewhere. then once there you get to drive an sls, then they put you in something and race around a track. who ever is the fastest get the car.

It doesn't matter which version you pre ordered, Gamestop will give you the stealth Nascar car and the McLaren F1.

they'll give you the codes for those cars when you pick-up. make sure you ask for them because sometimes they try to be sneaky.
