I can't help but have the feeling that it was never PD's intention to come with this special version for the GT Academy (or any demo version). I believe that PD wanted GT5 to be out by now and that the Academy would make use of the full game. But then GT5 got delayed, while the 2010 GT Academy was already being planned. The GT5 delay (if there really was one) would have been very frustrating for the Academy organizers and they might have pleaded/begged with PD/Sony to come up with a solution, which turns-out to be this demo version. :)

I am mostly curious about what progression GT5 made, what will be the physics, sound and graphics. Can't wait to DL the demo!
Prepare to play something scarily similar to Prologue... Still, better than nothing I suppose, or is it?

Don't bother downloading it then!

Personally I can't wait for this demo. I still have a brand new G25 sitting in its box which I bought 8 months ago in preparation for GT5. At last I can start getting used to using a wheel.

 I don't want a demo, I want the game!

Don't get me wrong, it will be nice to see what GT5 is going to look like, but come on! I want the game, not these tedious bluffs! :grumpy:

One track and two (similar) cars...whoopeee do. I'd rather they spent time on making the actual game than releasing demos.

Yeah, let's be brutally honest. Even if the track was completely original and Nurburgring length, with only two cars it's unlikely to entertain even the most dedicated of us for more than maybe three weeks or a month.

I can't think of any publisher releasing a demo, teaser, whatever, that had a point to it other than showcasing the game.

Now here comes PD and offers you a chance to win yourself a spot on an actual real life racing team. Or win an exciting VIP day at the track. Possibly the change to smell and rub yourself against some celebrity racing heros.

Blah, get off. I want five cars and five tracks.

Good grief, sometimes I really wonder.

Maybe because it's designed to entertain the most dedicated of you for three weeks to a month?

Just throwing it out there...

and that will make the 4 months shorter by 3 weeks ... is always better ! .. 👍

Myself cant wait to get this Demo .. and will be jamming it till the day of relises .. ja .. over and over and over !!

How come this isn't on the official GT website?

PD are absolutely shiite when it comes to promoting their products!!

I cant belive some ppl ... sack if you dont want the Demo ..Then Dont download it . then wait till GT5 .. more bandwidth for the rest of us that does want a demo ..

id rather play a demo and wait for a kick ass game .. then play a unfinished game now full of updates and fixes in the future .

I would think that PD is doing every thing they can to get this game out as soon as possible. sooner its out .. the sooner they get paid . Its commen sence .

I would love to play a GT5 demo even if it's a max speed test on a Daimler Motor Carriage. Thanks Yamauchi-san, no matter if it includes a indianapolis short course, only two cars and no AI players, it's still GT5 and I can't wait to give it a try.

The infield F1 track is actually longer than the oval track (2.6 miles vs 2.5 miles). :sly:

I'm surprised at some of you lot on here. "I want the game now, I don't care about demos." I want, doesn't get.

PD wanted to release GT5 for Christmas, but they've been held back by a number of reasons. So they have given us a demo of the full GT5 physics engine for us to taste, and a GT Academy competition to go with it! I think that's awesome, and shows PD do care about their fans. They might not talk much, or do things like other game developers, but they do care.

I'm properly excited to download this demo. Getting a wheel for Christmas too. So it looks like its going to be a GT christmas after all. It's not the full game, but it won't be long after this.

Agreed, and even without the demo GT5 wouldn't come out any faster. Polyphony Digital has gone beyond what many developers do for their fans, most developers have DLC ready these days before the games even out.

Dualshock 3 vs Wheel do you think that's what the main difference will come down to in lap time?

Thats the demo? 2 of the same car and 1 track? Thats it? Oh yeah thats ultra weak. Could have easily been a GT5P add on. :indiff:

Now what are you crying about? It is the GT Academy 2010 edition, which implicitly gives us some sort of GT5 demo. Not the other way round.

I really hope this contest means that we'll be able to race IndyCars in GT5! This IndyCar fan will be racing for those Indy 500 VIP Tickets!

This will be a first for me but excited as hell about this. I just have a few questions how will racing academy monitor guys taking advantage of the pause button and gearing down while pausing or hand breaking in corners to go faster.

I have not witnessed or have any info of the previous event, does any body know what the rules were on the last event?

It wouldve been easier for them to give us nothing, really, they just shouldnt give us anything.

Seriously, if this is a new GT5 build, they would need to patch everything new from it (physics, maybe sound, maybe damage) to Prologue, not to mention that they would need to fit it in the games structure.

New track, two new cars, and the gt5 engine for us to try out in two weeks from now.....for free. And still people complain? This just blows my mind:eek:

Probably the demo will include only the physics model, which is enough to me, PD intention is to show how the cars will behave and the feel you get while you're driving them in GT5. Looking from this point of view, the 370Z is a smart choice, the FR powertrain is perfect to show outrageous oversteer in a light car such as the Z.

i for two agree with you and see no problem...

There may be actually a reason for everything... if what SETWAVE found is right, PD would have done something that few of us knew about...
With their racing knowledge, they might have been even more accurate than us fools :p

I guess we are all so anxious :scared: and hungry  for GT5 information, we have become so needy :dopey: and neat-picky 💡.

I agree also

I'm going to brace myself for the barrage of game-forum threads like:

"So dissapointing"
"They ruined it!"
"Still bumper cars"
"Five years for THIS!?"
"Still sterile"
"Not realistic anymore"
"I'm leaving GT"
"What a letdown"
"It wasn't worth the wait"

It happens with every hyped game, even if it's good or not :indiff:

This is going to happen. These kinds of threads pop up even when something isnt released to us to use. Example : The 20 tracks thing concerns me. I rarely post in this forum because I rarely see any threads worth posting in. Most threads I see are people being nosey or complaining.

SCEE you mean, PD does not control marketing, especially in PAL territories.

Thats the way I see it too, too bad people are quick to assume and judge.
