Games in Europe, certainly in the UK typically launch on a Friday. So, why would GT5 be the exception? Give that the Friday before that date puts it into October, which is highly unlikely, I would suspect that if we are going to get a global release, we will get it on Friday 5th Nov. So, we could be having a *blast* in more ways than one ;)

Yes games are released on a Friday but that isn't always the case. The worldwide release of MW2 occured on a Tues!

I very much doubt the US release will be before Japan/Europe.

I agree.

And always, every retailer has got their copies 1 or 2 days before a release date... :sly:

Sometimes its alot more than 1 or 2 days. I remember during the postal strike in the UK, Shop to posted FM3 on the Tues before the Friday release date.

GT5: AUSTRALIA AND NZ RELEASE DATE????

With the bar set high by Nintendo earlier today with their E3 2010 press event, it was up to Sony to present the final conference from the hardware manufacturers. Several big announcements--such as committing to a price and release date for Move, pencilling in a launch day for Gran Turismo 5, and detailing a premium PlayStation Network service--were made, but sadly for Aussies, no localised specifics were mentioned during the House of PlayStation's big show.

That situation has now been remedied, with Sony Computer Entertainment Australia (SCE Australia) announcing some details later in the day. The most significant news had to do with Move: from September 16, the PlayStation Move will be available to purchase down under for A$69.95 ($60). Getting the PlayStation Move Navigator will set you back a further A$49.95 ($43), though it isn't required to play some games. A starter bundle will also be available on launch, which contains the PlayStation Move controller, a PlayStation Eye camera, and a starter disc, that will retail for A$99.95 ($86). A spokesperson for SCE Australia was unable to confirm exactly what content would be on the starter disc, telling GameSpot AU that it was still being finalised.

As for Sony's other two big pieces of news regarding a release date for Gran Turismo 5 and details for PlayStation Network PlayStation Plus, confirmation details were more vague. The long-awaited Gran Turismo 5 will be hitting Australia sometime in November, with the SCE Australia representative telling GS AU that they the company is hoping to have it ship as close to the North American release date as possible. As for details on PlayStation Network PlayStation Plus coming down under, there are currently no details set in concrete. In Europe, the service will launch on June 29 for a yearly fee of €49.99, or A$85.

Ok people, now it is most likley that Europe will have a November 2010 release date. I feel as though all European followers should now look towards Gamescom 2010, which is dated for 18-22 August 2010. This is only just over 2 months away and I feel it would be worth the wait if Sony was to announce a date for us then. Don't get me wrong to get a date before Gamescom would be fantastic but I do expect at least for Sony to give a date at Cologne. The only thing that could turn the tables on this happening is the U.S date to be postponed. If I was waiting for GT5 in Japan and elsewhere around this region I would wait for TGS which I beleive is just over a month after Gamescom (correct me if I'm wrong.) I would be extremely happy for a worldwide release but in reality I don't think or feel this will happen. I am expecting a date to range shortly after the US date (12th Nov. for example) to the mid 20's of November. :D Either way I'm pleased with a November date, not over the moon but relieved we have a date at long last.

I do have one question however: If I import GT5 from America will it work here in the UK?

Yes if you have HD and are connected via HDMI. I can't confirm any other TV and connection method though.

Ps3 Blue rays are region free so, yes it will work:tup:

But DLC is region locked, so in order to cash in vouchers for DLC cars (heard something like this is in the collectors edition) you will need a US psn account.

They are quite easy to get, but wouldn't you be better just getting the standard version on import and getting the CE in your own region?

Thats my plan anyway, if the EU release isn't soon after the NA one.

For me it's simple. One copy (Collector's Edition), one region (Europe).

Whatever it costs, whenever it releases, that's what I'll get. Not wasting money on multiple copies in the hope that it will be a sound investment.

The release date for europe is November, if you see the trailer on GT US Website, it says coming November 2nd, but if you watch the trailer on GT EU Websites you`ll see just November

I say Europe Nov 1st, North America Nov 2nd and Japan in late September :P

For Europe, there is no release date yet. November is not a date. At best, it is a release "window", narrowed down to a specific month.

Didn't the EU blog promised us a post TODAY for some clarifications about that?
And one in the coming weeks about the collector's edition?

Thanks, that will have to do for now 👍 I`ll pencil in nov 4 or 5.

Didn't PD/KY said, about 50 years ago, that it will be a world wide release on the same day?

Exactly, i didn`t find the post clarifying about the collector edition :ouch:

Exactly. It was August 2009. I was the one who posted the translation here so I know it very well :)
KY also said March 2010 in Japan. As we know, not everything is depending on his will.
We'll just wait... it's going to be a piece of art.

Yeah, but that will be in the coming 2 or 3 weeks...
But regarding the release date, I thought I read we were getting some clarification.

Yesterday, the blogger of Playstation EU said today we should have some info about collector edition

No promise was made:

I’m on it! I’ve been pestering the GT manager all day and he is going to write a new post tomorrow specifically for Europe. Trust me, it hasn’t stopped moving!
That could mean anything - he maybe wrote the post but they have not published it yet. Do not take what you read on the internet as gospel.
