This is where we should be 'whining' about this anyway. My vote is out until we hear it for real. If PD put a sufficient amount of LFE in the output, I'm cool. My amp will sort it out.

(not that I have anything to do with it anyway.....I'm not saying, I'm just saying)

As long as the sound isn't as windy as prologue we should be fine, all you hear is the friggin' wind above 200km/h.

The game definatly needs an option to hear the engine sound as if you were playing from the outside view (behind car) no matter wich view you chose. Doesn't matter how great an engine sound in GT5 if you are stuck with a muffled sound of bumper, hood and cockpit view, wich most of us race from. I want to hear the gutsy engine sound coming out the exhaust of the EvoX by GT in all its glory and be competitive at the same time.

All noises/sounde effects, tyres, engine and ambient sounds should be put on sliders. Allowing the user to mix their own preference. Other games do it so I don't see why GT won't have this option.

On most road cars with stock exhaust systems that's the same in real life too. At those speeds you mostly hear wind and tire noise, at least from the inside of the car.

Personally I like the GT5's cleaner and duller engine sounds. They just fit to the neutral and sterile world. The game would be very different if the engines would howl and crack aggressively as in real life.

Never really thought about it, but I can't wait to hear the GT5 version of that 787b...as well as driving that beast from the interior view..

Yeah... Really looking forward to that. Although (off topic) I'm mostly looking forward to taking the F2007 around the Nordschleife.

Couldn't agree more. It's the style of sound I like too, and it fits the game perfectly.

Yes! The "warble" is key!
Though I think you've got it backwards - when racing cars warble it's not because the tranny is "loose" but because the engine turns in direct lockstep with the wheels, no slack or delay whatsoever. When the wheels lose and regain traction on the road (like right after a gear change) they fluctuate in speed, and if the car has a light flywheel the engine speed will fluctuate with the bumps in the road too.

So hearing the warble is actually hearing the change in wheel speed.

GT has always been poor at simulating grip during wheelspin, which is why burnouts and launching were always so weird. I think lack of warble is part of the same underlying problem - the "tick rate" of the physics engine is too low; it simply doesn't update the wheel speed enough times per second, and so the potential lightning-quick speed changes get averaged out.

It looks like the tick-rate's getting higher with every physics revision, but I'm sure there's a balancing act there between updating a single car more times a sec or having more cars on track at a time. Hopefully it won't be a globally set rate - maybe we can get warble if only on the solo WRC runs :)

Man big thanks!You nailed it! :) 👍
GT5 don't have a real wheel-spin (at least visual) so it may prove that you right!
Also i've noticed that Enzo sounds like 599 too.But may they have same engine? Why GT5 don't have a real gearbox sound - WTF even Bornout has them!(I like engine sound in Burnout!)

Because then you have some people making youtube vids about GT5 with values that are all wrong and misrepresent hardcore.

Because with custom sliders you can have virtually no wind or road noise even at 200kmh+ which is ridiculous.

The values dont bother me i dont want louder engine noise i just want the fire.

Why is that an issue?

Why is that an issue?

Because it misrepresents the actual game that they spent years working on, and to have some mook drown out everything but the V6 seems retarded to me, sounds interact with each other dynamically, and im guessing PD have done their best to get the Values right, so why f it up?

Got a great idea, how about wind noise changes in relation to which directions you are travelling in, the speed of the wind and wind direction!!!1!!!11one!!1!!!!

Or even go the whole nine yards and make wind direction and speed effect handling of cars with large amounts of aerodynamic grip.

Or

We could just wait for the game to be released and then judge the sounds, rather than looking at sounds from a demo (And yes that Enzo, and the Gallardo from the CES demo both sound like they've been lifted from the 599 and the R8 respectively from GT5P)

Or

We could just be happy with what we have got...? Do you really want to delay the game another couple of months to get slightly more accurate engine sounds?

Even the most HC pc sims have adjustable sounds. Why? Because and result is not the same on every speaker system and adjustability does help.

Agree, and although differently tuned, people seem to forget the V12 from the 599 is lifted from the Enzo IRL, so it might sound the same because it is basically the same engine........

Umm going on that logic they had better not put in arcade physics then because surely that does not represent hardcore?

where have you been? Gees, for the millionth time, the Time Trial tuned 370z had transmission whine, and didn't sound like the cars from Prologue
So this means this demo, like the CES demo is still using old Prologue build sound system. Which is nothing more than a GT4 system

Just think logically and use common sense here. If these demos were meant to represent the final GT5 experience, PD would have put up videos of them on their site..

I know, but this is a game, and hearing wind for 20km on nordschleife is idiotic, this is not an enjoyable experience, if I want wind there's the highway and reality. Btw time trial wasn't as bad as Prologue in this regard, maybe GT5 will have improved from TT.

Hearing engine noise >100 decibels for 20km lap on the Nordschleife is even worse. It's enough to make your ears bleed.

But if it's authentic why not? So some people say...

Yeah, why not just record the exhaust sounds and play them? I mean they sound nice. Who wants authenticity anyways, especially on a simulator?

to sum it up all those posts..

GT4 sound

+????
+backfire sounds ?

-almost everything

GT5P:

+Spot on Z06
+,512BB,F40,XKR,Vtec,FGT,Elyse,111r,
-R8,M3,WRX
-lack aditional noises
-VERY BAD FX (Echo+ metal pipe FX with no doppler)

GT TT:

+370z normal/tuned
+no echo/metal pipe fx
+best doppler effect in racing games history
+no high rev flat sound like gt5p
+Fabolous Large Theatre mode.

GT5 N-ring demo

lot of offscreen vids and one "direct my ass" sound rip by minimax.

Minimax recorded sound from phones out in TV. Phones out in :::: --->TV<--- ::::

As i mentioned in other thread they have my TV there, bravia kdl40W2000 and more older TV's from Sony. By my model i can tell that phones out is utter s**t. If you are thinking TV phones out= MP3 Phones out You are veeeeeeeeery wrong. It's like listening your ipod with 1$ china phones. It's THAT bad.

OFC i don't mean to offend minimax (best dude now for us) but direct capture is direct capture from PS3 not from TV. How will LArge Theatre work from GT TT on TV phones ??????

Summary get chill pills guys and prepare to be blown away ;)

They are stilll hiding from us almost everything damage for cars, tracks, we don't know anything about GT Mode/arcade mode, no WRC spec, no NAscar SPEC, THEY showed only in china SUPER GT license video, to n ring gig videos people thought that n-ring track would be only upscaled.

After above do you still think that you know what GT5 will be in therms of quality ?

I mean before release of GT4 there were no backfires from cars, and about few weeks before release date they added it !...

Ok guys sorry for the sucky recording like i said this is not what im good at. I did a recording of Me playing GT5P on the 5.1 i had to keep it low because it was to loud(you can hear what im talking about during the video) and im comparing it to the best video i can find on youtube. Mine is on the right at eiger

Jarmo said it sounds the same so Im 0-1 right now

Wow!!! This is the CRAZIEST sound discussion this subject thread has ever seen. The demo (read: All Demo's) has flaws. No debate.

....They are stilllllll hiding from us almost everything....

That, my friend, is the money shot. We WILL be amazed. And if not............what are we going to do about it?

Enjoy it. That's what.👍👍

In GT5P Spec 2 you couldn't hear the BOV-sound if I remember correctly, I think that sound was added in spec 3:)

Btw, I wish that GT5 sound like this

^^^ Remember in prologue before you go into the race menu when your picking TT or an actual race? If your at London or Suzuka the cars driving by sound amazing i wonder why they cant make all the cars sound like that. its cool the sounds are not so bad i like the overall sound of GT, it will get better in GT5. 👍

th6is is one of my reasons th6at th6ey h6ide th6ing5s from us. TT demo calmed me down on sound subject because 370z sounded even better th6an f3

They can't get the values right for EVERY SPEAKER SET UP out there, that's why. Why are you so worried that forza fanboys will make the game sound god awful and post it all over youtube and bash GT5? Let people do what they want, steve jobs.
