GT5P Online Update *UP*

Well my dreams for GT online have been shattered ... im not even going to bother playing it anymore as theres no point its just a game of bumper cars for them ..

I'm in 1st place on Fuiji track last bend I break as normal to go around bend someone behind me dosn't bother using breaks and slams me and thats the end of that really...

I would prefer it if it played like Trackmania online all cars are ghosts and you can drive thru them but you can still see them ... i know its not realistic but neither is bumper cars in F430's and R8's

I havent had so many problems so far, only a couple times has someone rammed me on purpose, most races are quite good and I've had some great battles.

As for ghosting, I've noticed on the Fugi race when a car enters a corner way too hot and will plow everyone he automatically turns into a ghost before he hits, great Idea.

Just woke up, sadly it didn't finish downloading yesterday and i'm at 1/4 now, see you guys online in a few (I wish they'd add custom server host so you could invite only friends) so far it looks like the impressions are good on one side and not so good on the other, well i we'll see

This thead really is quite funny. What did you guys expect online to be like? If people can cheat they will, simple as that.

People in another thread were saying this would be awesome because you would only race against friends and they would always be on whenever you wanted a race. Well how is the racing guys?

This is what online racing is. A bunch of idiots playing destruction derby. You just wait till someone finds a phyiscs bug, then the fun will really start.

Still I am surprised that PD got 12+ online with minimal lag, though some say the lag is horrid, who is right? I'd love to try it myself but I am onto my 13th attempt to download it. Anyone get the feeling we are beta testing?

i'm on my 10th attempt too, passed the 50% bar it goes a bit further and then bang, error

EDIT: ok now this is ****ed up the bar just finished completely in a second and it's working T__T

The online is pretty good considering the servers are in Japan. The penalties are a good addition as well, but the annoying thing is if someone rams you onto the inside grass of a corner you get the penalty as well. One particular race on Suzuka this dude at the very back decided not to brake at all on the last chicane and screwed most people's laps up. At least I done okay next time...

Nevertheless, everyone seems to be fairly level pace-wise.

And it took me two attempts to download it. It took an hour...

Quick question, do you need all the cars to be unlocked from playing the game to play with them online?

I've had a look online and it puts you in the car you've selected in your garage. So I presume it is just the cars in your garage.

Man, i just had a go and realised what others are saying, man crap people and the blinking cars are horrible.

They should reduce the number of cars to help with lag and to have private games. Like in Tekken DR, you join rooms.

No you can, it depends on which game you join. The games are locked to one or the other depending on the person who made set up that game.

I haven't had a race online yet, but I've done a few time trials and this is logged into my UK account.

I took part in a few online races now but nothing quite prepared me for what happened just now. I took part in a Lotus Elise one-make race. Luckily I started at the back and it was a wise more to hold back at the start as the chaos unfolded at the first corner at Fuji. Smoke, dust and cars everywhere. However I knew something was amis as most of the cars started moving at a snails pace. I won the race (1st out of 15) almost 2 minutes ahead of everyone. That was defenitely something else...

I dearly hope that the day will come soon where people can host their own races. Maybe then can people race together who know when and how to use the middle peddle correctly.

They need to put an option in for private rooms, I'm sure all of this is coming, or at least will be in GT5 though.

I really hope they add private rooms or a way to host your own race with a password or something like that or a way to add people to the race from the friendlist, would only make sense I suppose

I guess we shouldn't be too downhearted, the fact that Gran Turismo is now online is already a step in the right direction.

Yipppeeeeee, won me first race at Suzuka, came 3rd in another.
Had few races now, and yes there is the peeps who just do not understand racing, and rather play destruction derby, one race into 2nd for 1st corner then got punted of hard. Blacklist players started already: Radcidon for one.

Looking forward to private lobbies.

Had to restart de download 3 times now
And it goes really slow. I'm spending christmas at my brothers house
so I probbably don't see any of you guys soon. Mabye at midnight I'try again

Dam PS3 locked up, hard reboot, go in to rankings and all me stats are gone
There some peeps playing on some really bad connections, really funny one race, they were all over the place, and yes yet again punted of by bad loosers or peeps just dont know how to race online. There should be a system where you do it more then 2 times or whatever, and then you get a Dnf.

Using the GTR34 + G25 clutch and shifter while racing close with other talented drivers is priceless.

I am also making a personal blacklist of rammers and idiots, aswell as another list of great drivers.





Oh and standing starts soooo much better than rolling in a single line, very happy they added grids.

Consider yourself lucky because I couldn't find one clean race! I like the standing starts better also, as I seem to get really good launches with the G25 & clutch

Well there are some laggy games, cars jerking all over the track, and appearing and dissappearing, it's hilarious, but when it works, damn is it great.
Had a fantastic 1 on 1 race with toshichankangeki in my F430 versus his GTR 07. SUPERB clean dicing!!!!!!!!!!! Have had some other fantastic races too, like some of the 111R races. Well worth the effort of the crap races.
I'm pretty sure it looks like anytime I am in a race hosted in Europe or somewhere far away, that's when I see the other cars being really jerky.
PD SOOOOOOO need to play some other online games, like COD4. Then they can learn how fantastic some simple changes could be, like ping indicators, support for headsets for chat, the ability to stick with a host once you find one with a good ping, and of course private rooms and the ability to invite friends. All to come I'm sure. I love this game

Usually the guys that fall back are the rammers/idiots but when I get passed them (they cant keep up) I tend to find a lot of good drivers to battle with and to my suprise most cases they don't ram me when coming into hairpins. Great stuff.

Private servers would be great, GTP exclusive races.

Seems to me PD are trying to make online more like regular races that include human players rather than going into the whole servers, admins, passwords, ping, chat etc etc. So it is rather streamlined like if you were just entering a regular AI based race.

Yeah I noticed that also, not only do they fall back when you look at the map they are off the road plastered against a wall then all of sudden they quit..lol

I'll be happier than a fat kid at ham camp when private servers are implemented
