Yep I'm in the UK and it's worked for me, I lost count of time I tried to DL it, but I was at it off and on from 11am 'till 5.30pm (and the time it did work the previous time had got to about 65/70% and the next time it was just complete as soon as the DL regestered as started???), so keep trying and it'll work in the end.

Gday guys, just a few ramblings from me.
I've discovered the online racing to be about 50/50 for decent races, i tend to get a race were everybody in that race just wants to bash each other.... or im in another race were most are 'decent' drivers with maybe one or two that end up bashing each other waaaay behind the pack.
Its quite easy for me to outrun the few however when everybody is doing it I usually cant get near the front because of the wall of d***heads.

I by no means am the best racer but have had some great battles in my R34 with some real tight finishes. (Im always in a black one).

From Australia im not findin the lag to bad at all actually, however the overall reason for this post is I just finished a race where the other 7 cars were all over the place, i mean something that you would not be able to do with a DS or wheelthey would flash up in places all over the shop then disappear and flash up maybe 100m from where they were in a split second. It was very confusing i i couldnt even get down the straight so i exited from the race. Has anyone else experienced this?

Anyway hope to see you guys racing online, and if i do manage to bump you off... please forgive me, trust me it wont be intentional, i usually try to let them pass me if i do (not that its happened much at all).

I'll tell ya I miss the AI's with a passion!!! Now I'm certainly not the best driver here at GTP but I've been racing in series for almost 3 years and am a good driver, not Div1 but high Div.2 and I have yet to come across a driver online that is even close to my skills. I've started in 8th. place several times at Fuji and just hold back a bit until the other drivers take each other out then get into first place. Once in first place I can always stay there, just keep me away from those amatures. Have you seen the drivers whose cars shake like they put amphetimines in their cocaine laced coffee? Don't get me wrong I'm having a great time but to be able to set up races with other GTP drivers would be great, I'm confidant the full version will have such an option.
I'm sure there are going to be hundreds of angry drivers emailing PD complaining about their new online Demolition Derby. Hopefully all these things will be worked out with either quali's and banishment for intentionally ramming other cars, or incorporating private races and or a division test. Possibly a way they can count how many times you hit other cars and give you a week banishment for repeat offenders. Guess that's what Prologue is all about, a way for the developers to work out the problem areas. So far I'm impressed with what they've done, it's us the public that's screwing it up (of course no one from here ) actually I'm quite serious, any of us that have been racing in series and have been around here for any length of time drive properly and show respect for the other guy. Maybe PD would make an online area just for GTP members...."The Elite Drivers Club" Alright enough babble, hope you all have been having a nice holiday and good luck out there!!

hahaha yeah good luck trying to find a nice clean race! i tell ya i was tearing my hair out at one stage then realised that i should forget about actually trying to win and just hang back and watch the race unfold and seize opportunities!! if yr lucky they will take themselves out then u just waltz it in

i have had probably 2 clean races and they were awesome 👍 but most are just plain aweful..... u can see them in front just waiting for u to attempt a pass so they can nudge u and send u off the road.....

and if u do get in front of them.... they take u out under brakes!!

oh well makes for some excitement i guess..... but all that talk about ai cars ramming!! nothing compared to our on line friends.

the only time i have rammed anyone is if under brakes someone just slams them on or takes the wrong line and i cant stop in time.... otherwise i do my best to avoid them.... it's really the only way to drive!

just had another race.... was great.... much more courteous! my online name is andyvan btw

Yeah but the thing is, in racing games there will always be idiots that screw up others. Like if someone spins and intentionally blocks traffic, he wont be punished. Even in PC sims like GT legends, ill be the fastest driver in a race but get taken out within a lap because some people simply cant drive.

But yes, when the time comes, we need a gt5p members only race

I started trying 8am this morning (GMT) and finally got it to complete at 10pm this evening.
Then the PS3 froze up on me when it was installing/setting up , rebooted it OK, and when I went into the game expecting it to need to start the whole thing again.......it was there! 👍 Hurray!

Been playing around mainly @ Fuji in a 599, but done some races @ Daytona. And strangely enough, the only race I had with d-jumping opponents was a the simpler track!
The AI are certainly 1000% better drivers than most of 'em, but I think sticking to the harder tracks weeds out the wombles, leaving more decent drivers in each race.

Gotta say, that if I were Jordan, I would be petitioning PD/PSN for a dedicated section for GTPlanet drivers etc, or the ability to have dedicated servers with memberships available (Just like they do with Counterstrike, Halo, Battlefield, GTR etc)

Also, at the moment it appears that it is a lottery as to which drivers appear in each race. I don't see a way to get a race with only/mainly a select few GTP drivers! So it'll be blind luck, I think, if we manage to race against each other until PD pull their fingers out and implement the above idea. And Drew's right, to sort this kind of thing out, is how prologue should be used.

But, above all, and all the above not withstanding, I'm having a ball!

haven't found a gtp member in a race yet... twice i entered in a loading screen with only my name in it. then i couldn't even press the home button, had to restart the console myself. don't like that, might be harmful.

for me, the best of online are the time trials and rankings, they are great.

sometimes because of lag you can't really avoid collisions. i've been in ocasions in which i tought: "sorry, couldn't avoid". i guess that explains some collisions, but yes, most players are just awful cheaters.

I have had the same prob, only one in the lobby, then freezes. You also loose your winning points if you have earn't any from previous races, and also your online ranking.

Its because network/connection probs, If you worry about loosing credits etc, then just wait sooner or later it times out and you go back to the menu without restarting the game.

I just did a race with BreakerOhio, and as you all know, he is a great driver. By the end of the race, I was 10 seconds ahead in 1st, and he came 5th.

Actually I started 1st and stayed 1st the whole race...by the end of the 1st lap I was 7 secs ahead. I just can't imagine what happened back there.

Yes it is lol. Earlier I did a race and I was passing this skyline on a straight and when I was right next to him he rammed me on the side and we both crashed. The turn wasn't even close yet so it was clear that was on purpose.

I totally understand how you feel. That black skyline I was talking about, when I was right behind him at the chicane, I ALMOST rammed him. But then I told myself...if I do that, I'll be the same as him...so I just braked a lil early and passed him and ended up 5th, while he got last place for loosing it later on. Just the fact of getting a better place than him was good enough for me ( even tho it's cause of him I got 5th place instead of top 3 like usual)

I haven't read if anyone else posted, but it looks like the tracks (at least Daytona has) have been updated to prevent online cheaters - and this has pretty much removed any hope of realism in the single player mode - as far as the visible and barrier changes at Daytona infield.

The track co-ordinate data also seems to have changed, as replys saved from Daytona Infield no longer follow the track after turn 4.

What a pity that the singlepalyer offline stuff is being affected by the online stuff

Until GT5P gave players the ability to set up and lock private races, playing with R-tards (with a capital "R") is what you are going to get with these "pick up" races.

well, war is war. i don't know if it is my experience with friends who were bad drivers, but i'm pretty comfortable with online so far. it's like i don't expect to find clean races if i don't see anyone that i know on the loading screen. i expect to get hammered. my advice is, when playing online use the outside view and pay attention to guys overtaking each other in fron of you. they always come out of control right back at you.

i would love some clean races, but oh well, we still have to wait for private events.

i don't know if its competitive nature, but i don't just sit there and try to be nice. i'm one of those that don't mind ugly wins. if somebody hits me on purpuse i know exactly what to do to get even.

i guess sometimes we get frustated, but i take it as a challenge. driving fast while avoiding "incoming objects"

First to on the lobby, I used to always be last also, lately it has been more random for me though.

When you come in earlier like first in the lobby, you are on your own and you see the other played get joined up.

like, names pop up during the loading screen before the race? i've only been alone in the loading screen twice, and since nothing happened for 2 minutes i tried to press home and quit the game. home didn't worked so i figured the game froze on me so i reseted the machine.

so, you're supposed to wait for ever on that loading screen with the entry list even if you're the only one? just asking to clear things up, maybe i'm misunderstanding something here...

It seems like you experienced network problems that happens some times, if you are on that screen and the player names and car names stop swapping you know the network is not responding, you can either reset your system and loose all unsaved data or wait it out (take awhile) until it times out and lets you back to main menu.

If you get in the lobby early you will see people join, then sooner or later the race will start, but if the player and car names stop swapping then it is hanging.

interesting... then again, i might be one of the very few people playing this from brazil... so who knows...

maybe some tech wizard can help us here. if we try to set a time here at GTP, to get everybody joining an online event at the same time, would that increase our chances of being in the same race? (i know its random, but if 20-25 GTP mambers are joining at the same time, we might 2 or 3 in our race, right? or completely out of question?

I guess I was lucky, my online update downloaded in 15-20 minutes in very first time . Online game was fun for a while till people including me started hitting each other. I guess friend list for me.(If there is one yet)
