i think we can be confident that PD is using gt5p to test new features to come in the full release on gt5. its a great starting package but because of the vast majority of cars in gt5 and that you can modify cars etc. I think we'll definitely see some changes in online play. I'm guessing it will work like that in other gt games where races are determined by max power output and you can enter a race with any car with up to that much power.
i hope there is self hosted races as well though.
I hope PD starts putting some updates quickly cuz I can see myself getting bored quickly being that there are ony a few amount of events. ....
First impressions from a seasoned online racer:
The worst experience I've had so far. I'm hoping it's the distance because the cars are jittery and in many cases disappear totally from the track then only to reappear as ghost cars at some unknown time.
Plenty of bumping that wouldve resulted in condemnation in any GT4 online race.
Apart from the new tracks, cars and overall graphics, this online experience is nothing compared to GT4 online even with lag. Seriously.
Poor so far.
how's your connection? from the reports i've heard that mostly happen when you have a bad connection and struggle to the information for the other cars... i also found this problem, but i have a bad connection (600k). some other players might be raceiving penalties, that's why sometimes you just run through some of the players.
however, when you find good players it becomes a very good experience.

I am confused.. people know this is a "Pay to Play" Demo (as in we bought the demo) - emphasis on DEMO, Prologue, Preview...
How come people people have unrealistic expectations? This is NOT the full retail product, and was never claimed to be.
Chill and enjoy the ride.. figuratively and literally
p.s. The patch downloaded in one shot for me.. I think it is regional netlag that is impacting th4e online experience and patch download speed, not local PD server/network conditions.

I believe my first experience came as a shock more than anything, combine lag, god awful drivers and the lack of racing etiquette and the end result is a very poor first experience.
I'm sure it can only get better. 👍
👍 This is something that peeves me off as well. A tad off topic, I know, but Americans who complain about UK connections being crap because bullets lag, it's not our fault. The same happens vise versa as well. It's the delay for the response going overseas. That's why I tend to dislike joining American hosts (or anywhere further) in online games. Why are you quoting your connection speed? It has nothing to do with lag in most cases. You should have just said 'i am on the other side of the earth' because thats where your lag comes from. Sorry to go on about this but its a pet hate of mine. It does not matter what the bandwidth of your connection is as long as its over 30kbps or so. Its lag caused by the time a electric signal takes to travel around the world that affects most games. You are in the UK playing a japanese game on japanese servers (i assume, we dont actually know how they have chosen to setup the online service), you should really expect lag. You can only hide so much with clever code.

Has anyone managed to get it to download in the uk?
Ive tried 10 times before the game and also in game and it keeps failing!!! Ive given up for today, I wish PD had better thought this patch distribution through.
