It's a new era, different R* developers etc.

Grand Theft Auto is not part of the Red Dead series.

Also Rockstar said they were dead.

I know RDR isn't part of the GTA series hence the different names.
Didn't R* studios make RDR and the GTA series because as far as I can tell RDR plays very similar to GTAIV very similar multiplayer.
So I still don't see why old GTA characters can't be included in GTAV's multiplayer.

Red Dead was made by a different division of Rockstar than GTA was.

Because Rockstar said no?

I agree it would be awesome to have them, but it's not going to happen.
Rockstar only said they wouldn't be returning in the story line because those characters are gone.

Nothing to stop them from being easter eggs in MP as available skins.

That is true.

R* never said the two Red Dead games were in a different universe. They have said that about the GTA PS2 and HD era games.

What does different universe mean can't R* just create characters that look like the PS2 versions of themselves for multiplayer?

That is true.

;)

But they use the same publisher right so why can't old GTA characters be used for multiplayer?

Because it's their game and maybe they don't want to. It's a totally different setting with the places/names of another game. It's to keep the game new and fresh.

I want them as DLC, don't get me wrong, but it is just not going to happen.

What does a publisher have to do with what a developer wants in their game?

Try not to triple post, you'll get in trouble for it.

Imagine another Earth, exactly like ours but billions of lightyears away. We exist in the UK on our Earth but we don't exist in the UK on the other Earth. That's what they mean. GTA SA on PS2 and GTA V are set in the same city but not on the same universe.

R* could create lookalikes but what they're saying is those exact characters/people don't exist in this version of the GTA universe.

I'm not really fussed about previous SA characters returning or not. I rather liked the little bit of customising in the MP character, bar zombie.

Definitely won't bother me if they aren't back but I would like CJ. Then it will really feel like SA again. Probably will play mostly as Trevor or Franklin honestly.

Nice one.

I can just imagine unleashing the Mini Gun on some poor NPC Taxi driver, that's just bumped into my Futo at the traffic lights.

I know, everytime I drive a RL look-a-like car in GTA, something gonna happen with either a taxi driver or a impatient one hitting my car or action movie wannabe cops with their wild driving (especially in the GTA 3 Era.)

Jump out and bring out your weapons and unleash them on your victims, like gentlemen. Hehe...... :trouble:

I really hope the crazy cheats make a return.

Same here. Especially people hating you or mayhem and riots in the city. Love using those on Vice and San Andreas.

The riot cheat would have been great fun with GTA IV's updated engine & civilian AI over the PS2 era games.

Same here when I played GTA IV, I thought about seeing a cheat that would make people go berserk on each other, hit and run scenes, civilians pulling out weapons, even seeing a hostage situation .

But they didn't :(, even the new stuff added in EFLC would've been a good move as well since the weapon and armor/health cheats work with all three games. I even wanted to see a "Everyone is drunk" cheat similar to SR2 on Gay Tony, that would generate laughs everywhere you go.

Let's hope the riot cheats, angry and crazy people, even people drunk on the streets in GTA V. Because Los Santos, San Andreas is a crazy place like Vice City, blame it on the heat for all the chaos.

Just give me back the classic "Pedestrians have Weapons" & "Pedestrians Riot" cheats, they were hilariously good fun back in the PS2 days. Especially in GTA III, when you'd get the occasional old woman running around with a rocket launcher. Certainly made driving around interesting. :scared:

Ok but there is no hardware/software issues using old characters though, shame.:(
The publisher does have some control over the dev don't they?
I was thinking they could tell them what to do a little.

Ok I see a different world but in the same city.

I hope either CJ or Sweet make SOME sort of return in V. Even just as a pedestrian I would like. Sweet and CJ were really the most memorable characters of my childhood.

I need to round up all my favorite songs from Vice City and San Andreas. Then I can put them into a playlist while I am playing GTA5 to bring back some great audio memories. Then I can have it playing in the backround on the 360 and still hear the in game audio.

Wish you could do that on PS3 lol

I love the San Andreas soundtrack as much as any GTA fan but when it comes to a new game, the new soundtrack is what immerses you in the new world they have thrown at you.

I do have K-DST, K-ROSE, Playback FM, Master Sounds, Radio Los Santos, and Radio X saved on my phone so when I drive somewhere in real life, I listen to San Andreas radio stations. I also have Wildstyle from Vice City.

I agree. I hope V has an awesome soundtrack.

I would like the ability to "tune" cars, like in SA, - also the hydraulics :D.

I could go on forever with what I want back from SA, this would be one of them lol

I have so many cars modified in San Andreas, it's not even funny, or is it?

But driving a generic tuner or lowrider in LS again will be a great addition! :D

I've never liked going all out with customization in San Andreas (unless its the Sultan, then I'm going for the rally look). I usually just change rims, color, and bass boost.

Oh memories! I recall driving a lowrider (with hydraulics :D), while listening to the Gangster-rap radio station (I forgot it's name). If I remember right, there was also a contest for the hydraulics.

Another thing I would like, is the customizability of the characters (like making them skinny, strong etc.), the ability to fly aeroplanes and "drive" - and ride in - trains.

The radio station you're talking about is Radio Los Santos, I really want that in GTA 5 and yes there was a hydraulics contest in San Andreas.
