Why is it that everyone is choosing to overlook the major gameplay elements and instead choosing to focus on minor tweaks to existing play mechanics.
That's what makes it GTA though.
Not sure if this was posted yet but this is the first time I have seen this pic.
A lot of detail inside the buildings. Nice draw distance too.

Yes that was posted a while back. Love the detail. Even the computer monitors have some R* version of Windows.

Yeah it's possible in Saints Row The Third. Driving around the same speed as NPCs or slightly faster will get the indicators to flash. However, driving at top speed in an Attrazione (fastest car in the game) will not get the indicators to flash.

And what I meant about proper speed is...well...the same speed as NPC traffic, and not something crazy like 200mph. I don't think we'll have to worry about 500mph tractors and stuff like San Andreas's broken traffic system.

Hm, on mine they act all crazy. A proper speed is difficult to gauge. I'll get on later and try it out.

Looks like a nice office :p. I hope we'll be able to climb any building, after seeing that photo (also for the first time).

Usually what I'll do is follow an NPC car, and match my speed with it. Then I'll throw on Cruise Control (which GTA V could definitely benefit from), and I'm good to go.

Ah, sounds like an idea. I'll try it out in a few. Thanks for the heads up.

No problem.
Off topic: I might pick up the incredibly childish Saints Row IV on release, beat it in the month given until GTA V, then get GTA V and kiss SR4 goodbye. Kind of a risky move of Deep Silver and Volition to rush Saints Row IV so they can release it before GTA V.

Being able to climb any building would be amazing. So far Crackdown really nailed that feature. But I wont get my hopes up. I am guessing that's a scripted event. If I am wrong that would be great. But seriously that would add an insane amount of area to explore. It would really be a dream come true, but again, I wont get my hopes up.

They know its about the only chance SR4 has of selling a decent amount of copies. If they released it after GTA5, it would bomb in sales. I love the SR series but even I am not buying SR4. I will rent it even if it has the stupid season pass like SR3 had.

Wow, after machinima's look-at for Saints Row IV, my opinions have completely changed about the game. It looks like a lot of fun can be had flying around Steelport! Heck I might even preorder the game, not sure yet.

If you like the way SR4 looks, you REALLY should check out Crackdown 1 and Crackdown 2. Both are also full co-op campaign games from beginning to end. C1 is a 2 player co-op, C2 is a 4 player co-op with up to 500+ enemies (zombies) on the screen at once. It gets crazy at night.
I think Crackdown 1 is a little better but both are very fun.

How does your PS3 not melt with that going on? My PS3 lags HARD when I'm just shooting the turret on the APC in GTA TBOGT.

I played it on the 360. I don't think they have Crackdown for the PS3. It is 360 exclusive. But yes Crackdown 2 is a 4 player co-op sandbox game through 3 full cities with at least 500+ enemies on the screen at once including land and air vehicles. :sly:

It sure was. That game was PURE sandbox innovation. THE very first sandbox with a full co-op campaign and full freedom. Plus you could climb every building in the game. Then after that was Saints Row 2 as a full co-op campaign. If any of you missed out on Crackdown, you missed out on the pioneer of sandbox games this generation. So thankful for the introduction of a co-op campaign.

That's what makes it GTA though.

It's all things to all men.
And boys who want to shoot RPG's without aiming anywhere specifically.

If you watch/listen to the yootoob vids about the demo that the industry types have seen played already, you'll hear them say how the heists are all based on movies that Michael watches; HEAT being one of them.

As I understand it, you'll spend all kinds of game hours deciding on how to tackle your next job, then find the crew/tools/weapons/vehicles to carry it out, then stash the car and pay the boys involved.
This will then follow with a lull in gameplay where you'll have some guidance from the narrative, but in the main; you'll be left to decide what to do next, in which order.
You could tackle the hardest or biggest bank job the game has to offer straightaway, but without the credibility, know-how and gangsters to back you up (along with weapons/cars/tools and hiding places for stuff), not to mention the capital you'll need to pay for them, it just won't come off the way you'll need it too, and will offer more of a setback rather than an advancement in your GTA world.

That's my view.

Not what I read/heard/saw.

:irked:👍

Ah, beat me to it. I watched that until 1am last night and was fortunate to enter a GTA V dream, my body was trying to wake but I had at least 30 minutes of gameplay. Back to the video when I heard about cars being able to have window tints and when I saw that car with and without the badge that confirmed for me that the game will be as moddable as MCLA. I'm so excited about the bank heists, it might be a good idea to give people working with you on the heists weaker weapons so they die and you get a bigger cut without getting a bad reputation after murdering them. :D

It is the same video that was posted a few pages back. But this one is even better with individual break downs of each character and features.
This is THE best video I have seen for GT5 so far. After about 1 minute, tabs will show up on the left side of the video making navigation VERY easy.

Could someone please summarise the major points of the video for me, please? I don't have enough time to watch it all.

They basically go over what we already know in numerous articles and point out a few things, the best part is the last 20 minutes or so when they answer questions from fans. One of them who saw a Rockstar demo confirms there will be bears.

Rockstar has made it clear every year they don't show GTA at E3.

True, but this is GTA V we're talking about here. This is the mucho-grande GTA game, not some Episodes crap, or a "Stories" game. No this is literally San Andreas with enhanced IV graphics and physics. I thought they would've at least shown us a small tidbit of gameplay then called it a day, but I guess even the incredible hype this game has isn't enough for them to show at E3. :indiff:

I think you're missing Jay's point. This isn't the first time that Rockstar have chosen not to show a GTA title at E3. They've made a habit of consciously avoiding the Expo.

Why should they show the game at E3 just because people want to see it there? E3 is largely about publicity: developers show off upcoming games to get people interested in them. But GTA V is at the point of market saturation - the public cannot be any more aware of the game than they already are, and E3 will take place just three months before GTA V's release. Thus, Rockstar get nothing from showing the game off.
