GTA V - General Thread

They always have been. Too insane, too arcade-ish for me. I prefer the realisticness of the GTA series, which is, ironically enough, why I continue to buy and play them. Yeah GTA has had it's moments but for the most part,thats why. You can even see it in these new screenshots.

To me the worlds in GTA are far more interesting, and now with the addition of animals in the enviroment and a world as large as GTA V, why would you want to play SR?

I play SR because the games are fun. Yeah, GTA V is gonna be great, we all know that. But for me, sometimes I just want to run up and dropkick a cop or a random person. I can't do that in a GTA game. Plus, I can co-op the campaign with a friend. I just know GTA is a for sure buy, and so is SR4 for its over the top fun factor that GTA won't have.

That's just me.

I dont get why anyone would.... the only animals I've seen were in GTA SA in Santa Monica Pier (the seagulls/ albatros'). I would use the flying cars cheat and try to get near them... it never worked. You would usually meet this white barrier and the cheat would be deactivated and you plummet towards the ocean. Then you had a LONG swim back home.

Haha... that was usually my long swim back. I killed CJ when that happened a third time. I just said "no way in hell, am I going to sit here and watch a virtual player swim for 10 minutes straight when I can see the same virtual player holding a knife near a whore's throat, while backing away from the gang members.

Also, couldn't you make a paper airplane that CJ would throw at some bystander's eye?? Lol.

I've never seen it. My cousin said, a couple of years ago, that you could do some special mission, or there was some special place,I don remember, where you could make a paper airplane and it could be used as a weapon. It was one of those long-a** winded tales that never went anywhere....

I'm not sure, if that's the one that couldn't be stolen. Plus, CJ had a handful of girlfriends .

To be honest, I think the "cartoon" looks more like Kate Upton than Shelby Welinder . But, I'm not saying it's not Shelby.

And I remember when CJ has to follow his sister and her boyfriend Ceaser from the Los Aztecas gang to a lowrider meet. That's where you get the introduction to the lowrider dance off. Just to let you know also .

And CJ is the man with all those girls!

And I think the cartoon chick looks more like Kate to me.

Made me wonder if by complete bad luck, could you be killed by lightening ?

Or lightning striking a random person hanging around a tree or a lamp post . But having this feature would be cool.

SR2 was decent but personally they too unrealistic for me and I feel they are an insult to the GTA series.

I really love SR2 and the crazy thing that you can do like throwing people off of ledges or into a wall is hilarious .

But the story I can care less for since everything is unlocked in the beginning and you can do hundreds of activities and since I haven't played the SR1, I don't get that much of the story.

But GTA is a different story, even with EFLC stories with TLAD and BOGT, the city is unlocked, but I still do the missions and cause trouble.

Like I said I feel the SR series is too arcadish. I own SR2 and SR3 but I never finished the 3rd because it just felt too "unrealistic" for lack of a better word. The SR series are great games in their own rights but having started on the GTA series I've grown to like the realistic settings they've tried to incorporate. Being able to do what you normally couldn't without getting in real trouble from the law is what keeps me coming back.

That seems to go in hand with rumors people make up thinkiing the game had at one point. I've heard quite a few lol

I really hope that GTA V will all be unlocked from the start, which IIRC Rockstar said it would be this time. That would be nice.

Also does anyone else notice that in a lot of the screens where they are out in the desert or in the forest see Mount Chiliad in the background? I remember seeing a screen where it put Los Santos on the waterfront...maybe the city is on a corner of the map and those pictures being in the scenery the city is behind the mountain....

WHat is unrealistic about alien Dubstep guns?

I'm pretty sure Area 51 will be returning lol. Though I wish the boxart woulkd have been things we haven't seen yet. That bummed me out but otherwise it looks good. Other thing I wished was the lack of detail in the boxart like the GTA III era games but it took after IV. Oh well.

Yeah the cartoonish boxart of old is cool but I prefer the paint style they use.
I still like the art though and area 51 should be brilliant fun with the dogfights and such.

The new boxart reminds me of oil paintings for some reason. Never cared for it.

As big as the new map is, dog fights are definitely going to be awesome. Since the map will be open from the start, I'm going to likely end up saying screw the story I want to explore the map.

Since the one tree was confirmed to be on fire in one of the last screenshots, do you guys think large fire propagation will be included? California is big on wildfires....so imagine if we could burn down sections of forests and trying to escape....That would be EPIC.

Both places would be so cool to have! And so would the wildfires :tup:!

I hope there'll be jetpacks and parachutes, too. The jetpack's one of the things I really missed in IV.

It's a shame we Europeans'll have to wait until November-December-January (I think ). I'm not sure about the European release-date.

Edit: I was wrong. There'll be a worldwide release on September 17th.
