Exactly what I mean :D!

Also, it could be cool if the police would be able to chase you for speeding, illegal overtaking etc... Highly unlikely, as the chance for Rockstar adding indicators :p.

I think Rockstar considered that for a previous game but decided it wouldn't be very fun to have to drive legally in an open world game. Look at the original mafia. You had to follow road rules in that game (and possibly the sequel. I don't remember much about that).

Maybe they should be more strict though. For example, if you narrowly avoid smashing into their car while driving on the wrong side of the road at 100mph, they should chase you.

I remember 1 or more Driver games had that, and it was aggravating as hell.

Yes. Maybe you'll have to do them when you go for 100% on a save file, but you should be able to ignore them and other tasks you don't want to do.

I've been thinking about this. Maybe only certain characters will do certain types of side missions. For example, you have to use Trevor to do the truck missions but he is deemed too psychotic for the police missions by the Los santos police department.

Also, say Franklin can do police missions as he has a friend on the police force. Obviously this is pure speculation, but it would help mix up the free roaming by forcing you to use all characters rather than sticking to your favourite. It would also help make the very idea of a criminal doing freelance work for the police slightly more plausible. Although it's still highly unrealistic.

With the doing a 3 main protagonist setup, I don't think that this is that far out from being plausible. I think this would work really well and I'm sure they've already thought about this, if not even implemented it already.

I seen a pics of where a guy was analyzing the trailers. He pointed out some tow trucks, he said he seen the older models, like the ones in San Andreas and more modern ones.

You guys may have already seen this already.

EDIT: http://www.gtagaming.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2220274 -- First trailer breakdown

http://www.lukeyy19.co.uk/trailer2breakdown/page1/

Oh goodie. Lets hope now that you can actually use them to tow things. Unlike the one that appeared in the Lost and Damned.

Excellent find. I have not seen this before. 👍

I've seen some done like that but not that particular one. I agree, great find.

EDIT:

On page 3, several IV era cars are shown in the trailer, specifically one of the mini-vans, so I think we will be getting some of those cars back. The Bullet GT was also shown. Might not have III era vehicles but at least some IV vehicles are confirmed to be returning, a first for a GTA game.

Thanks guys, I've been scouring gtagaming.com and gtaforums.com for interesting threads and I came across those trailer breakdowns and the one where people were marking a fan-based map based on the landmarks that they seen.

Anyone else notice the gan van in on of the screens? Looks like the A-Team van with a Avenged Sevenfold logo on the side. Gang vehicles similar to Saints Row?

Also looks like the Lost MC and the Ballas are returning....gang warfare also?

What about the Vagos and the other one?

The other thing I noticed was in one of the screens, Franklins dog appears to be chasing a guy wearing a LOT of purple....

Well, didn't IV take place in '08? The same year it came out? Is V supposed to take place around this time? So, wouldn't it make sense to have those same cars, updated and such?

V is in the present day, though I wouldn't mind a GTA set in the '70s. We haven't had one of them yet. But still you'd think if they'd do that then maybe they'd restore some old cars from III era games but I think that's a no, especially seeing as they said it's a different universe, nothing would transfer over.

Ah. Well, my thing is this, San Andreas took place in the summer of '92. Even though it's been 21 years, if you would go to San Andreas now, you still may see some cars from back then on the road, just like you would in real life.

So, why couldn't R* just make HD versions of those vehicles? I mean they're recreating Los Santos/San Andreas into the modern L.A.

I agree with you but I don't think they will be doing it. As they said, another universe...

No those 2 are in the HD universe, III era games were dubbed 3D universe. That's why nothing from the 3D one is coming to HD. Make sense?

Ah, I see. I thought you had meant IV and V was two different universes. I knew about the 3D and HD universes though. Shame though, because in the trailers, it even looked like some older model vehicles from San Andreas was in there.

What I like about GTA is that the time period/atmosphere your in reflect the current events of that era. With GTA San Andreas, it was the early '90s with the gangs and riots in L.A. I believe GTA IV took place soon after the twin towers (9/11) incident (2002-3ish?) so you had the talk and paranoia of terrorism, bridges being blocked off, conspiracies of the government, etc. GTA V, I think, will be taking place right after the U.S. economy started to plummet. (2008-9?) So things like the recession and its effects will surround GTA V's atmosphere. One possible example was the guy nailing a "For Sale" sign in the ground in the first trailer. So expect things from that era. 👍

Can you provide evidence?
They may still be... just in 3D (or HD?).
Re-created?

GTA IV took place in 2008. 9/11 happened in 2001. I watched it.

GTA V will take place in 2013.

As, for my previous post, yes, recreated.

As for V taking place in 2013; I must admit, it would make sense, but I don't know if Rockstar's that fast… I rekon 2010-2013 is what they're "aiming" at.

My bad, you're right. 👍
I still believe that things like the recession will find its way into GTA V.

Can you provide evidence?

I can "attempt" to provide evidence.

The third picture where Trevor is on top of the train. The tow truck that's between his legs looks like an older model, could be something from as far back as a '92 tow truck. The one that's right where his left hand is at, looks like a newer model. Newer than the other tow truck, I should say.

Just me guessing at things.

Well, here's the quote:

We catch back up with Trevor as he is climbing on to the top of a moving train, behind him we can see two tow trucks, the more modern one we saw in San Andreas, and also the older style seen in The Lost and The Damned, hopefully these will be usable by the player like they were in San Andreas, and maybe more, such as towing caravans like the one seen in the top right or the one in the river earlier in the trailer.

I agree, I think it would better suit the game in a range of years but Rockstar stated quite clearly that it would take place in the present day. Giving that every other GTA has a specific year it takes place, 2013 would make sense for GTA V.

That would be mostly what GTA V was about. "The pursuit of the almighty dollar".

Well, here's the quote:

He says the older one was seen in IV's DLC, so I don't think it goes that far back. If you look at it, you'll see it's a flare side model. San Andreas was a style side model. See the pics.

2 totally different models. That sad, that confirms the return on GTA IV vehicles!!!!!!!

Please Rockstar, prove me wrong.

Well like I said at least that and the Bullet GT and a few others confirm the return of some GTA IV vehicles. Awesome.

And (after I got a 2.1 surroundsound system - Logitech… but still) it would be nice to see the bass boost "upgrade" back :trouble:.

Upgrades in general need to return. 👍
Oh, how I miss driving black taxis with nitrous and dollar-sign wheels. :D

Absolutely yeah!
Remember the sandstorms in verdant meadows and your plane would go out of control?I always took weather effects in GTA for granted but actually they were(PS2)very advanced weren't they?
Maybe custom planes and helicopters could be implemented, hopefully the hydra will return from SA.:D
