Damn Jb doesn't open until 10 am
Oh well, only an hour and a half to wait :)

And I'm sure Luminis will have fiddled with the picture settings, he knows what he's doing. Going from PC at 1080 and smooth frame rates back to console is always a shock to the eyes

Okay. That's understandable.

Just waiting for installation of disc version. The PS3 version is 8466 MB for anyone who may need to clear space on their HDD.

In about 14 hours I'll have my hands on it. I'm excited...so excited I got me a new futon for my room. :p

I believe these are both wrong. According to those who've played, there's around 20 or so safe houses & it is possible to own more than 1 in only single player.

So I guess the Blue print is for GTAO.

How do they compare to IV?
Both have their strengths and weaknesses, but I think V looks better overall. The lightning effects are much better, but you'll have to deal with slow loading textures and objects popping up upon closing in. Also, the lack of anti-aliasing sticks out like a sore thumb.
What HDMI/HDTV are you using?

Also, adjust your TV Display and In-Game Display Settings.
Running a Bravia in 1080p mode. Running it at 720p doesn't really help, all I could do is crank up the Smoothness setting. That, however, makes stuff appear washed out whenever motion blur occurs and it improves the aliasing issues only marginally. And while the frame rate isn't too bad, it is noticeable that it does drop below 30 FPS a lot. It makes the controls feel a bit floaty and sluggish at times, especially when driving at high speeds through heavy traffic.

👍

Yeah, it takes a bit of getting used to. I was like "WTF" upon first booting it up (as was my room-mate). A few hours later, and it didn't seem too bad. Still, it does leave me with the feeling that R* designed the game primarily for next gen consoles and merely adapted it to run okay-ish on the PS3 and X360. That's why I'm eager to get my hands on the PC version. That's probably gonna take another six months, but I'll be sure to pick it up again on Steam ;)

I think te graphics are great. We all know the trailers are a little better than ingame. Publishers do that every time. Just look at GT trailers. It's the same thing.

Last week I played san andreas on Ps2, even with that draw distance it still one of the best games ever.

The draw distance in Gta V is amazing. I was driving up a mountain then had to ditch the cops. I decided I would just drive of the mountain. I could see Los Santos in the distance and I was truly blown away. Yes there is pop-in, yes there is flickering , but besides these minor things, it looks amazing!

Maybe we need a whining and crying thread for everyone who is dissapointed with an aspect of the game. (I will not give my opinion about those who complain about the driving physics....)

Let the GTA5 rot commence.

Just got back from the shop with my copy, the install isn't actually taking too long which is good. Can't wait to get started.

Seriously, what's with all the fanboy-ism latey? Whenever a high profile game comes, there are a bunch of people getting all butt-hurt whenever someone points out that the game in question might have a few flaws here and there.

Seriously, I'd currently give the game a 9.5/10, it's that good. Doesn't change the fact that a PC version could easily be a 10/10 because I wouldn't have to deal with the consequences that arise due to it running on ancient hardware. That's the sort of complaint you aplogists will just have to deal with.

No one else is having this it seems.. Great.

I got my disc about 20 mins ago but when I try to load it up it gives me an error! "80010514"

So unhappy right now! :grumpy:

Edit: Tried an old game Borderlands 2 and it loaded up fine.. Why do you do this to me..

Just out of interest, what platform are you playing it on?
On the 360. Not that it matters much, though. According to the comparisons I've seen, the difference between the two is marginal at best. There's more flimmering with the 360 version, but more details from what I've seen as well.

Paul, have you sorted it?

Paul?

Paul?

yep......

:irked:👍

The AA or lack of is what stands out to me. But I wasn't expecting amazing graphics. Same as IV would be fine for me, and it seems a little better IMO. All in all, graphics are good.
As for the game, where do I start. Too many things to write about, I would be here all day. Just amazing. One thing I love is the seamless transition from controlling the player to watching a cutscene all in one motion. And the cut scenes themselves are excellent.
Also, Mt Chilliad is huuuge

Just curious as you have the 360 version did you install the "play disc"?

As RockStar advise against it as it will lower performance according to them.

Yeah, this is what I was going to ask you Luminis. There shouldn't be a big difference between the versions if you follow rockstar's advice. If you didn't install the game disc then fair enough. I was just curious.

The game is so good, I went for a mountain bike down Mt Chilliad (I didn't last long haha), got blown up by tanks at a military base, went for a ride on the golf course in a sports car and quad biked along the sidewalk running over innocent civilians. Oh and I also did a couple hours worth of missions which seem to be nice and varied so far, I have heard that the missions are very good in this game. The city itself represents only about a third of the map but it's dense, huge and sprawling, literally seems to go on for ever ! . Can't wait to play more tomorrow !
