Okay how about the greatest car Ford never built.

In the Top Gear episode first broadcast on October 26th 2003, Jeremy Clarkson stated "I actually drove this and it was horrid. It had a top speed of 40 (mph) and it handled like it was in a cartoon".

The GT90 was built by a small team in just over six months and, as a result, borrowed many components from another high profile stablemate—the Jaguar XJ220. The all-round double wishbone suspension and the five-speed manual gearbox came from the Jaguar, while the engine was from another member of the Ford family.

I guess you can't expect much from a car that was built in 6 months.

Which I heard was only good for 4 hours at WOT before it spit its internals out like a baby after a big meal. Which is just another reason this car is so epic! 👍

Yup! four hours of run time, can't get much data out of that to get it right in GT. haha!

Yes, you'd be disappointed... unless you chucked a pile of cash at the engine, suspension and brakes. They aren't that quick and they don't handle well compared to more modern stuff.

Old cars are never as good as anyone remembers them. If you're buying a vintage performance car, expect vintage performance.

Then again... there are so many go-fast parts for Cossies, it's not funny. Better hope your credit card speaks in pounds, though...

We Aussies had to import this model, so this makes it very rare to be seen here. For that it gets cool as a rare car. Unfortunately the uncoolness overrides the cool on looks. It gets it back having a Cosworth engine and 4wd. But ultimately it is uncool for the stupid looking rear spoiler for road use. All good on the track, as it has functionality, but not for a roady.👎

It depends what you're expecting. Will it handle as well as an Impreza/Evo? No. Probably not even as well as a contemporary Impreza/Evo or the aforementioned Integrale. Probably even not as well as your Civic, as standard the Cossies are supposed to be fairly softly sprung (though in the UK this can sometimes be a good thing given the quality of the roads).

Earlier ones were supposed to suffer from epic turbo lag too as Ford just bolted on a massive turbo that took ages to spool up. Later ones are supposed to be a little more driveable.

I was going to vote cool until I stopped and thought 'What will people think of you if you drive this?' and the answer is 'They will think you're a massive ****'.

Uncool. Not seriously so, as it's still an awesome machine but it's not cool.

It will bankrupt you with running/upkeep costs alone. Mediocre car that costs (on average) more than a Lancia Delta Int' to run per annum. 👎
