Is Fetchy stuck somewhere? I tried to submit this weeks TT.
I can see that you PM'd Fetchy over 5hrs ago. If you still haven't gotten a response, please hit "Invite More" in that conversation and add Gravitron and JoostBaksteen. Last time this happened Fetchy didn't respond when the user's replay zipfile was corrupt.

Congratulations to my friends in Canada for your team winning the gold medal in Hockey. I know that is a big deal up there. Hopefully Sidney Crosby can help my Pens win the Stanley Cup this year.

You're in Maryland, and you like the Penguins?

I grew up in Pittsburgh for the first 24 years of my life, so yes I like the Pens, Steelers and Pirates. I grew up going to lots of their games and watching Lemieux play. The nice thing for me living close to DC, is I get to see the Pens 3 times a year at the Verizon Center. By the way, we don't live too far from each other, I am in Gaithersburg.

Any news on this years Audi LMP1, Frank?

Lol, I get newsletters from Audi almost every day !!! it is part of theire strategy, here is te latest i got about the homologation of their car....

FIA and ACO homologate the Audi R18 e-tron quattro
New LMP1 race car receives sport approval
Homologation process started in November
75-page documentation for the Audi R18 e-tron quattro

Ingolstadt, March 3, 2014 – Before the Audi R18 e-tron quattro is allowed to contest its first race, the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) has to approve it. The required homologation documents had to be submitted by February 15.

When the Audi Sport squad headed by Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich tackles the construction of a new race car, a challenging task has to be resolved. Maximum creativity is obviously a key aspect but at the same time, all the regulations must be complied with. The Technical Regulations for 2014-specification LMP1 sports cars encompass 20 chapters with 67 pages, divided into detailed sections and a comprehensive annex.

The FIA and ACO experts had the opportunity to verify that the R18 e-tron quattro complies with these regulations even before the actual homologation. “Back in November, the manufacturers had to submit initial documents for an advance homologation,” says Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. “This allowed the FIA and ACO to gain an initial impression of the planned concept.”

The so-called homologation sheet of the Audi R18 e-tron quattro has 75 pages – more than any of its predecessors. “The level of detailing is the reason,” explains Dr. Martin Mühlmeier, Head of Technology at Audi Sport. “The homologation documents put new emphasis on areas such as safety-relevant components, the powertrain and the energy systems.” The freedoms provided by the LMP regulations include the possibility to homologate various body versions. During the course of the season, additional variations in the sense of an evolution may be subjected to post-homologation. “In contrast, the class rating which specifies the permitted amount of hybrid energy, the operation principle of the hybrid system, the type of fuel used by the internal combustion engine and the output and consumption window may not be changed anymore,” says Dr. Mühlmeier. Audi relies on a hybrid system in which the kinetic energy is recuperated at the front axle and fed back into the system.

Even before the car was homologated, Audi provided proof of the accident safety of the new race car. “The crash elements at the front and rear as well as the monocoque were subjected to special static and dynamic tests,” adds Chris Reinke, Head of LMP at Audi Sport. “In a certified test facility all these tests were successfully run in the presence of FIA and ACO delegates.”

In Ingolstadt, the FIA and ACO experts subsequently performed further tests, for instance of individual functions of the race car, made measurements, checked individual geometries by means of gauges and inspected materials. Each R18 e-tron quattro car which Audi will be using in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) this year has its own folder, which contains the homologation documents and the car’s chassis number. This description of the race car, which is like an ‘ID card’ in a manner of speaking, has to be presented at each document and technical scrutineering session at all events. Homologation is an important, but by no means the only prerequisite for fair and thrilling competition in the 2014 season.

– End –

Note to editors: Every Monday until the Le Mans race on June 14/15, we will be providing you with new background information on the R18 project and Audi’s commitment in the world’s most famous endurance race. Next week’s topic: the e-tron quattro four-wheel drive.

And this is some allround Audi news from Sunday :) I think you will like the first part Dean ;)

Tom Kristensen invited the employees of Audi Sport and Audi Sport Team Joest, personal friends and his early supporters to an event in Denmark on Thursday. In Hobro, the home town of the Audi factory driver, his guests had the opportunity to meet the mayor. A curling competition and a karting event in Århus treated the group of about 60 invitees to experiences of fun and excitement. Ralf Jüttner, the Team Director of Audi Sport Team Joest, was presented with a gift of symbolic value by the Audi factory driver: a trophy which Kristensen’s late father had won in his own motorsport career. For Tom Kristensen, the gift was a way of saying thank you for having been signed by the Joest squad in 1997. The Dane back then managed to immediately win the first of his – now – nine Le Mans victories with the team based in the German Odenwald region.

This year, you’ll be participating in the Le Mans 24 Hours, the biggest race of the year, for Audi. To top it off, this is a year in which three manufacturers are battling for overall victory.
It feels good to return to the team of the race drivers. I’ve been to Le Mans with Audi three times – in 2011 as a reserve driver, in 2012 as a race driver and in 2013 as a spotter for my team-mates. Each of these activities has given me a different perspective and that’s very positive. The big interest by the manufacturers can clearly be felt this year. A lot of media already started to intensify their coverage of the WEC and Le Mans in winter.

Oliver Jarvis and Filipe Albuquerque are your team-mates. How well do you get along with them?
I’ve celebrated a few successes with both drivers on previous occasions. With Oliver Jarvis, I was on podium at Le Mans in 2012. Filipe and I finished the Italian GT Championship in the Audi R8 LMS as the runners-up in 2010. A year later, he helped me win the champion’s title in the finale, on my guest run for Audi Sport Italia. We’re a well-balanced team. Our lap times are similar, we’re bringing some experience from our careers to the team, and we get along with each other really well. At the teambuilding event in Lanzarote, we could already tell how well the whole team of Audi Sport harmonizes with each other.

This year, completely new rules apply. You started to be involved in the tests at an early stage. What will be the biggest challenge in 2014?
Last June, I started testing the new tire generation and have reeled off many more days of testing ever since then. The car feels very good and, due to the regulations, the tires have to be clearly slimmer. This is a big challenge for our partner Michelin with whom we worked in the right direction very constructively. The tires, like many other areas, will show that those with the most efficient driving style will be the front runners. The 2014 season feels like going back to school again and learning a lot of new things – that’s a nice challenge for the engineers and for us drivers.

World premiere of new Audi RS 5 DTM in Geneva
2014 generation of the Championship winning car clearly more aggressive
New season is under the motto of ‘title defense’
Audi CTO Hackenberg: “Motorsport accelerates development”

Ingolstadt, March 4, 2014 – Audi has unveiled the new generation of the DTM Championship winning car at the Geneva Motor Show. The 2014-specification Audi RS 5 DTM with its aerodynamics package having been redesigned in practically all areas looks clearly more aggressive and features visual details bearing an even closer resemblance to the sporty production models of the RS line than its predecessor.

The task that confronted Audi Sport after the 2013 season was a real challenge: how do you make a DTM championship winning car even better? Since the strict regulations in the touring car series allow little room for maneuver, the engineers concentrated extensively on detail work. The latest result was unveiled to the public for the first time at the Geneva Motor Show. Noticeable at first glance: the new Audi RS 5 DTM appears significantly more aggressive. The reason for this is the near complete re-development of the aerodynamics.

“In addition to the suspension, our main priority was to improve the aero,” says Stefan Aicher, Head of Vehicle Design at Audi Sport. The RS 5 now has the honeycomb grill from the production car at the front and new air ducts feeding the engine and brakes. As a result, the race car now shares an almost identical look to the sporting RS production models.

The innovations along the flanks are also obvious: in order to make the airflow even more efficient along the outer skin, the exterior mirrors were integrated into the aerodynamic concept. The aerodynamics along the side between the front and rear wheels also reveals a new concept. The inner rear wheel arches are, in contrast to last year, closed and the rear part is now flat. Aicher: “The DTM rules are strict, which is why minute detail work is required within the tight limitations.”

Invisible from the outside, but crucial for the perfect set-up at each respective race track: the work invested under the carbon fiber skin enveloping the RS 5 DTM. “For example, we made suspension modifications to the front and rear axles, from which we expect improvements,” says Aicher, without wishing to go into too much detail about these and other new and further developments invisible from the outside.

“In production development, we tackle the challenge of making good cars even better day by day,” says Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Hackenberg, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development of AUDI AG. “This applies to Audi Sport as a part of Audi’s Technical Development as well. The most recent results achieved by hard work are an all-new R18 e-tron quattro that we’re aiming to stand our ground with at Le Mans and in the WEC against Porsche and Toyota, plus a largely new RS 5 DTM with which we’re aiming to keep our number-one spot in the tough competition with BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Of course, neither of these commitments is an end in itself: Motorsport at Audi accelerates the development of new technologies.”

Audi contests two races against time year after year: one on the race tracks and the other in the Audi Sport offices in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm. Because when the DTM celebrates its season opener at Hockenheim in the spring, the engineers start working on the race car for the following year. The ‘RC3,’ as the 2014 version of the Audi RS 5 DTM is known internally, was thus born in May last year. “We begin with the first fundamental thoughts from every department before the aerodynamics are developed in a continuous process,” says Stefan Aicher, Head of Vehicle Design at Audi Sport. “The goal is to have the base for the new car finished before the year is out. The detail work follows.”

There are still two official tests in Budapest and at the Hockenheimring on the agenda before Mike Rockenfeller, with start number ‘1’, and his team-mates start the new season at Hockenheim on May, 4.

Horrible,

My Clubsport Wheel and Formula Rim turned up today but I have to wait until tomorrow to hopefully be able to access the tools at work, what a terrible feeling having it in front of me and not being able to use it. :(

Hopefully tomorrow someone that works in the warehouse will possess a drill and be able to quick sort it out for me so that I am ready to go when I get home:sly: If they don't have the tools then it could be a while before I get to use it.
