I haven't played GT3 for over a decade, will be fun to fire it up again to have a go.

Also my PS2 could do with a fan spin up! :dopey:

I recently found a lightly used ps2 brick to replace my ailing slimline. That and component cables to clean up the looks on a flat screen.

I will hook it up tonight, and let the best soundtrack of the series rock my ears.

No promises on posting a time, I will do my best.

Need to go faster!!!

I should probably stick to foot races.

And my PS2 thinks it's 1999

On a side note: Controllers have improved so much. My hands are cramped.

Can I take part in the time attack if I use a GT3 CD, a DS3 and an Emulator (My PS2 has been dead for years) ?

Here's my pathetic effort. 1'16.424

I had massive trouble turning left in the chicane at the end of the lap. On that lap I think I was surprised to have made it through, but did so in the wrong gear... :banghead: I don't know if it's a G25 issue or just not used to the physics. I always used a wheel on GT3 originally, but it was a 200 degree MOMO Racing I had then.

Few advices mate. On the 1st corner's end, countersteer smooth but quickly to avoid going wide and take the 2nd on 3rd. On the big spoon, flat out on 4th and slow it down a bit when it starts going wide (make sure you get hooked to the apex), and good luck on the chicane :lol:

Who on earth had that (beep) idea!!?? :banghead::banghead::banghead::mad::mad:

As you may have just read, GT3 celebrated an important 15 year milestone today. On July 20, 2001, the game became available in Europe following earlier roll-outs in North America and Japan. To celebrate, we're holding a little contest, with two prizes up for grabs.

For GTPlanet members with GT3, your challenge is as follows:
  • Head over to the Time Trials in Arcade Mode, and select No. 6 (Castrol Supra GT @ Apricot Hill).
  • Try to get your fastest time possible. There are no limits on the number of attempts.
  • Once you're satisfied, make sure at least the top original developer time is still visible (Y.Yasuhara, 1'17.447), and snap a picture of the Records board. It can be either at the pre-race menu, or the separate screen shown below.
  • Once you've got it, post the image in this thread.

Members without GT3, have no fear! You can still win:
  • See that image above? Post your best guess for my final time.
  • The member closest without going under (faster) will have their choice of the same prize options as the racers.
  • As you can see above, I've managed to beat the top time set by the team, but that's the only hint you'll receive.
  • You only get one guess, so make it count!
The deadline for submissions, of both the lap time and guessing variety, is August 1. Good luck!

Fine Print:
We reserve the right to disqualify a time if we believe it was achieved via unnatural methods (hacking, emulating, etc). This is for fun, folks: let's all play nice!

Note the fine print in the OP. No emulators.
That's why I asked...at least I can stiil win that copy of GTPEDIA.
I thought I might be able to participate if I could provide proofs I did a clear run.

Sorry for the confusing edits.
Edit: Time for me to find a working PS2

Hard to see, but it's 1:15.053.
I can get half a second ahead, but I keep clipping the cones.
I'll try again later.
