S'funny how those often putting down ovals get all dewy-eyed about Monza. Especially as we don't really have an oval in the game. Daytona is not oval, and Indianapolis is a rounded rectangle, and BOTH of them have road course sections like Monza, should you choose to use them.

For a game that paid a fortune for the rights to have NASCAR cars in them, you would have thought a few PROPER ovals might be included, and to leave off the oval at Monza just seems short-sighted.

The history of racing banked ovals goes back a LONG way before NASCAR, and includes participation by some of the most storied marques and drivers in racing history. For a game of GT5's inclusiveness to miss out on this historical opportunity is tragic.

Oval racing in general goes back before NASCAR.

Infact, Chariot racing in rome could be classified as "Oval" racing. And not to forget, dog and horse racing as well as track (human running).

I like NASCAR, and I like Oval racing. Yet theres so many people who call the most raw, and arguably first type of track based racing horrible things.

Indeed, world's first purpose-built motorsport venue was an oval (ish). Steep banking, too. I'd love to be able to get on the Monza banking, just to have a go at the configuration from Grand Prix. Would make a nice change from the standard layout, which I must have pounded around 1000s of times since Geoff Crammond's GP1.

I think it's a Tri-Oval Superspeedway. The front stretch is not a straight.

This, Daytona is a Tri-Oval, so is Talladega

Atlanta and Charlotte are Dogleg Ovals or Cookie Cutter tracks

Motegi and Darlington are Egg shaped Ovals

Pocono and a few others are Rovals

Indianapolis is a Quad-Oval

I think it would be really interesting for GT to venture back into the past and include some ancient race cars / race tracks. Plus it would be great to introduce some new technology to old tracks. Why spend time on fantasy tracks when tracks of age existed before the rules that make today's tracks boring.

K Block spins a circle around a cone, inside of a square, the width of 2 cars plus a few inches, with off-setting entrance and exit, and admits to re-takes, and you guys compare it to kart driving? No doubt they have mutual respect for eachother, but I wouldn't put Seb in a obstacle course or Kblock in a kart if it were my cash. Stunts are a little more hairy than a racetrack.

What, you mean he did something that people do every day, at gymkhana tracks, mountain roads, closed course events, and parking lots. In single takes. Wearing worn sneakers and in cars they can barely afford the fuel to? How...Amazing.

What "KBlock" did is set up cones at a historical location, and ebrake around them five thousand times, wasting the time of filmcrews and staff, to shoot what is basically a designer shoe comercial that also advertises some kind of horrible caffeinated beverage, because he "Felt like it" much like every other rich american to wear a monster energy firesuit.

Then again. Pastrami only needed one take to do something as simple as driving a car off a ramp.

Loeb drives in WRC. Vettel drives in F1. Where on earth did you get this kart concept from?

That is sweet. I didn't see any of those old school cars in the game. I heard they paved Daytona this year, I guess we're out of date already.

they didnt even update daytona from the prologue. the space between the entrance and exit of the infield road course has long been paved. Plus other graphics related things such has the flag stand and some signs need updating.

They made some changes. Track grip overall is reduced, and instead of cones at the bus stop they put some kind of horrible concrete wall.

But graphically little has changed, unfortunately. Then again, when Talladega was paved, EA never updated the NASCAR games to match.

I couldn't agree more. Why why why, those are the questions.

For all the KBlock/Pastrana haters: wtf? These stunts propel the sport in huge strides. I was referring to the ford fiesta video btw, not a shoe or drink commercial sheesh. Either way all drivers, teams, dreams live off sponsorships. Seb is not an exception, he just can't win a supercross championship, double backflip a dirtbike, etc., etc., like Travis or get a multi million hit youtube video before he was popular like Block. Plus we don't get good wrc coverage here.

Theres a monkey in a tree, a dinosaur in a lake, and a chick that suspiciously looks like a blonde driver or something. Theres also a bunch of glitches people cheat with. that's all I can find. Ken block and Travis Pastrana signed with dirt 3, a game from the future.
