Dont see why it wouldnt work as it is essentially a 3d tv.

Might be cool/ might suck. Driving with a wheel with an h shifter would be terrible. But using it in conjunction with head tracking would be amazing.

There is a mini review over at ign where they use it with gt5. It is a sony product. It would be baffling for it not to work.

Boooooo

Things like that in the past have always managed to combine low res with high eye strain.. Add 3D on top of that and its probably gone hurt.
These revolutions of cinema have been coming and going for years now.
Altho it would be pretty cool if it worked as advertised.

I cant see why using this with a shifter in GT5 would be a problem. After all in real world driving you dont look at your gear stick each time you change gear. If this goes diown to a reasonable price I will buy one.

on either gizmodo or kotaku one of the writers tried it out with GT5. from what i recall he said it was great but since the image stays stationary to your line of vision it was awkward since he kept trying to turn his head to look at corners.
Now i could imagine this being very immersive with NFS Shift's helmet cam view.

these have been around in one form or another for ages. none of them have been any good. i think ill wait untill its released before i get excited...

yes i know negative nancy

Yea, it's a very nice gadget. But still no full HD (only 1.280 x 720). And would be interesting to know if you can remove the headphones.
Because "virtual surround" < real 5.1/7.1 setup = owned. :sly:

I'll wait for the next revisions. Better & cheaper. :D:tup:

Very true, but you also have peripheral vision and "see" things without actually looking at them IRL.

Try going through the motions fully blindfolded. Its a little more difficult than you would expect. Do i think this is something that one could get used to. Yep.

I highly doubt this has any head tracking built in as it isnt a specific gaming device. Now throw on the ps3 logo..........

Found the article: http://gizmodo.com/5835977/sonys-hmz+t1-is-an-awesome-oled-3dtv-that-you-wear-on-your-head

The stationary image is the one thing that would keep me from buying this. I'm not sure how much that relates to the processing capacity of the PS3, since currently we need one console per screen for panoramic setups. Also, wouldn't the headtracking dealio be able to integrate with this setup?

It should have the ability to plug 2~4 headsets into it.. so people can have 2-player matches. It seems kind of lonerish the way it's designed - with a 3DTV you can have many people enjoying the view with multiple pairs of glasses. I think it's kind of a waste of time.. they could have been putting the effort they used to make these into more 3DTVs imo.

I dont think the eyetoy headtracking system would work with this unit. As the eyetoy tracks the users head movements and adjusts the image on the screen accordingly, so you have to keep your eyes foreward looking at the screen and only move your head.
Perhaps it could be tweaked to be more natural (in that the user turns their head left and the view in the headunit screen looks to the left) but i cant imagine that being a priority or perhaps even possible with the PS3s hardware. maybe next gen consoles.

*edit- just thinking now, it may actually be fine. Since the user probably has their eyeslooking foreward looking at the screen when they turn their head seeing as how the screen is inches from thier eyes.

This thing really needs headtracking. I mean REALLY!
Imagine GT or FPS shooter with free head movement? That's the future.

...that's the end of my social life. I will play with this until my dog attack me demanding water and food.

Use a ps eye :)
Highly doubt this supports head tracking. It would not be worth the effort to put into it with so few media outlets to support it.
Headtracking is just not possible in any other format but gaming. This is designed as a personal home 3d cinema. Not a new school virtua boy.
I can certainly see them coming out with a gaming version once the costs drop a little. Mate it with sonys new ps3 branded headset/microphone......MMMMMMM

This would be pretty cool. The thing that keeps me from playing video games most the time is my wife wants to watch TV. This way, I could sit there with her while she watches TV and I could still play my games. But, at $800...no way, maybe $2-300 max. I have a feeling it would kill my head though.
