I'm surprised that people are complaining that Polyphony might produce a Special Edition. And, horrors, it might cost MOAR!

Did some of you complain when artists produce special releases and boxed sets with high price tags? Are you mad that a free site like GT Planet has a Premium membership you have to pay for??

This planet has a lot of weirdos in it, I have to say...

I'd pay more for a special edtion for sure, but only if it seemed worth it. Depends on what they offer. But at the end of the day if there isn't a speical edition who cares the main thing is the game.

What would tick me off is if there is a special edtion and it contained extra content (like a a couple special cars or a extra track, etc...). Then I'd feel like I'd have to get the special edition because I hate missing content.

If they did do that I'm sure that stuff would be available as DC later on, but i'd want that stuff from day one. Don't think they'll do that though. Hoping.

I wasn't refering to special editions or boxsets, neither a special edition of GT5, it would be logical for those to command a premium.
I was mainly arguing that the standard version of the game shouldn't be sold higher because of a long development, like someone suggested.
That's why i mentioned artists which all have different approaches and take different time producing a record or movie.
And although they're all delivering different content for different people to appreciate the basic price of a CD/DVD is the same.
Any special version commanding a premium for the hardcore fans is not being debated, i don't have a problem with it be it a CD/DVD or game.

( Edit, if you were adressing it to be in the first place ).

@westerbaek -Yeah, same here in Good Old Germany. We have to pay more than €60.000 for the new CAMARO, which costs about $23.000 in the States. €60.000 is roughly $90.000, which means I'll never drive one :-(

Don't forget that wages in Germany are pretty high, relative to the US (depending on how you take the average...)

But the Camaro is too expensive over here.

I don't really know how much taxes are applied in the European Union, actually I used to think that all commerce between Euro nations was totally free of charge.

In Brazil, the federal tax over imported vehicles is 35% of the total value, however the customs house has another tax, the port has another tax and many other trading institutions have too. So, the total value for any imported car is 300% of the original value ( I was planning to import a used Porsche 911 993 when my finances allow, but unfortunately I can pay only for one car, not three of them. :grumpy: ) As a matter of comparison, chileans get imported cars paying basic taxes, that's what an intelligent tax policy means to population, better life quality, more safety and more satisfaction. We still struggling with the absurd taxes despite of what world says of Brazil, we are deep in the third world, with no hope of getting out of there in the forthcoming decade. Politicians are more used to travel and market little realizations, than solving problems, and here we have the most expressive case of that, ruining our country. :grumpy:

Back on topic, this thread was not meant to evaluate how much people would pay for GT5, it was meant to analyse how desperate they are to enjoy the game. Nobody, in proper mental sanity, would pay $600 in a game, c'mon people.

A premium edition would be good, I would pay up to $100 in a full premium edition, paying more than that is just wasting money in my opinion.

No this is not the case, it's depending on taxes set by the individual nations, all cars bought new in The Netherlands for example are significantly more expensive than the same ones in Germany, and the more expensive a vehicle becomes the more tax it commands.
So the difference becomes even greater in percentage when buying a more premium expensive car as well as the total price ofcourse and there's no point in importing from Germany as those taxes are then just charged afterwards.

I'd probably pay up to $200 for it right now. But when it's actually released, $60. Hell, I'm kinda thinking it might be at a cheaper price point because of Prologue.

Considering the fact that I purchased a PS3, a new HDTV and two wheels...I have already dumped a good amount of scratch preparing for this game. (yes, it is the reason I purchased a PS3)
If I could walk into a store today and grab a copy, I would be willing to pay $100 + tax. Which is why I voted for $100-$200. However, if I have to wait till November I will not spend more than the regular $60 for the game. LOL, as I say that, I am thinking that I will pay whatever it costs to get the game, and as soon as humanly possible.

I can recall when GT3 was released, I didn't even own a PS2 and I purchased it. I ended up giving it to my best friend and got him hooked.

A game is never finished as such, and so they can release whatever they want as long it is represents a polished, cohesive package. Other than that, you have no idea what else would have been included had it launched a few months later.

Very true, but that could be the case with any game of course...

I was just offering a witty answer to the question at hand... I guess you didnt find it witty, then huh? :sly:

Meh... ;) Just providing a cocky answer to some sly wit! After just clearing up a steaming pile of dog **** from the kitchen, my humour levels are at less that peak!

^^^^^^ Hopefully it wasn't in the punch bowl ;)

..................................

Whenever it is released I'll pay £39.99 for the vanilla edition and if there is one I guess £60 for the Über-edition.

I would never pay more than £40 for a PlayStation game. I don't care what it is. I anything, Sony should offer all members of Gran Turismo forums a discount for waiting 6 years for the release. Thats nearly half my life!

I just want gt5 finished or not it can always be patched. as for how much id pay its earlier in this thread but im 100% sure about getting the special edition if there is one.

If i could get an exclusive copy of the game already finished right now and everybody else would have to wait until the 'fall' release? I'd probably pay anything up to £70, any more and it's not worth it to me. Especially as nobody else would have the game to play online with.

First what does the "Gold" version do for me that th regular version doesn't??? Probably wouldn't pay anything for it not even $1. I've already got the game. Paid $43 for it. It's fun and it's a challenge but there's too many things wrong with it that I wouldn't call it a collectors item. Hopefully PD will learn from this and the next version will be one that's much better thought out and not seem like they didn't give it their best effort! The lego like box shadows on the cars? I've never seen a game with that. You gotta be kiddin' me?

I still would've got my collectors edition, I still would've paid full price. And I still am criticizing the positive and negative aspects of the game (and I'm still disappointed that the negative ones outnumber and slightly outweigh the positive ones).

I'd still pay the full amount of money for it. At the time I was just relieved it was out at the time and I still don't dislike much about it.

Just curious to find out how much would you pay if PD released a Limited Gold Edition of GT5 this week ? I know Id pay a maximum of 300US $ !!!!!!! and im unemployed !

I got the game for free and I still think it's overpriced...

A special edition too??

No thanks, not because of the price but the principle.

I don't see why people should be lining the pockets of polyphony and their partners for something we already have, especially when they should be concentrating on fixing the glaring faults that are still in the game - nearly 6 months after release.

Aswell as trying to entice back the amount of people who are walking away from GT5 hand over foot every month.

Instead, what do they do - have a knee jerk reaction to dupers and glitchers and try to force upon us their way of playing the game they couldn't be bothered to make properly in the first place.

Now your asking if I'm to pay MORE money to these same people for EXACTLY the same (flawed) product I already have?

LOL...

Er...no...

Would you buy another broken car to replace the broken car you just bought, same with a TV, fridge etc etc?

:banghead:
