Don't bother, they ll never be good or enjoy it. Try Mario Kart on the snes.
I must admit this is the best advice. Don't even think of trying to force your hobby on others. And GT is horrible game. Boring and so on. Good sim but **** game. Better off with Mario carts.

BTW I love GT series
 
it is more important that they enjoy the game rather than trying to bite off more than they can chew just because you want them to be hardcore sim racers

let them do ovals (Indy) with automatic transmission (all aids on) in a Honda Fit, or any other reasonably powered FF car.

once they mastered steering and basic throttle control, do an easy track with turns (like High Speed Ring) so they start to master braking in a straight line

then gradually start doing harder stuff and driving more powerful cars as they become more proficient. baby steps are key, otherwise if they spin out too much they will become frustrated and hate the game.
