Here's my point, though, you are usually well known here if you are a moderator, or a very active poster. (I'm going to cross the line now.)
Famine for example is possibly one of the most well known members of this forum, alongside
Jordan who is possibly the greatest forum maker (Sarcasm if you want it to be, although it's up to you), and the most important in
. And these days, you'll see a lot of people's home forum is in different threads.
F1 Fan is very active in the Motorsport forums, so he's most likely to be well known there.
SlipZtrEm or
ceiling fan in the Photomode Forums is another good example. It's all down to your home sub-forum and variety of posting/activeness. So to recap all that - You can be popular in The Rumble Strip but unknown in the Motorsport thread, but you are all-around famous if you post in every thread, and do it regularly. And me, well I usually hang out in the GT5 Q&A and Photomode (sometimes) Forums. Music and Motorsport are my favorite thread-starting places, but I'm not really a well known member.
And my reason for bumping this thread is because (I think) this is a very interesting thread, I think more people should see it. I even SEARCHED for a forum like this, I really like the ongoing banter around here (although most of them are from 2004) and I'd like to see this great thread up and running again.
