This one is interesting...

Rolex watches are the most ridiculous things on the face of the planet. You'll never catch me wearing one. Way overpriced, and this eBay ad proves it.

Oh, never buy a watch on eBay. They wont be the real article. I got stuck with a cheap knockoff of an old Birtish Vietnam area military watch. Plus, many watch makers warn of cheap fake watches being sold on eBay. So, don't ever do it.

Rolex's aren't that bad, I enjoy mine. Plus I love it when engineers look at my wrist in awe.

Some people might call a ferrari driver a poser with a lot of complexes; then he can say : " I bought a red soundmachine with incredible performance on track, that beats 85% of all the other cars around".... Well, he might still be a poser, but on the other hand he has valuable arguments.

Some peope might call a person with a 5000$-50000$ watch a poser with a lot of complexes; then he can say : " I have a bling bling watch with a great name on it and it shows me the time like any noname 10$ watch"...

:odd: ;)

Well I look at Rolex's as status symbols. I mean my grandpa gets everyone of his grandkids a Rolex for graduation, if they did well in school mind you. So that's how I got one of mine. The other one I just went out a bought one day, but then again my family is pretty wealthy. My dad has five Rolex's I believe and 2 Tag Hauers.

I have a polar S120. It was $120 but there is no flashyness to it. It got it for the heart rate function, but have ended up using it on a daily basis. My other watch is an timex ironman, again nothing flashy, just a sport watch.

I bought both my watches on eBay, particularly because they were each more than $100 cheaper than in stores. And both were 100% authentic and fully mint-condition and functional when they arrived. eBay is THE BEST place to buy most things, including cellphone accessories and watches.

Example: I needed a new battery for my Sony Ericsson cellphone, and when I went to the Fido cellphone store, they had it for $50. I told them to eat crow, and I went home to eBay. I got a genuine Sony-brand battery, the same exact one from the store, for about $10.

Retail is for suckers.

Damn, Anderton! We have same watch(ok, yours' newer) and same brand phone! I got my Blue Angels Watch on eBay, too. It retailed for almost $400 at the time, I got it for around $200(new & authentic from some pawn shop). My coworker had this watch(he also got it for $200, overseas somewhere) and I had to get it.

I stepped on and broke my Sony Ericsson Charger earlier this week. I went to like 7 stores and only one store had one....... for $35! I told them to kiss my you know what(joke) and went on eBay. I opted for cheap, aftermarket one. $12(including S&H) for the car charger, home charger and a battery. 👍 I don't plan on using the battery though. I heard that cheap aftermarket ones, sometimes explode(no joke). :scared:

I guess you have better luck than me. I buy one watch and got ripped off. I did all I could to make sure I buy from good sellers. I check his feedback and all was great. People who bought the same watch were 100% satisfied with their watches. Either this guy was a crafty scammer or there are a lot of idiots out there who can't tell if they bought a counterfeit watch. Since this guy is still in business with only my negative feedback, I'll vote for the later.

But, as a general rule, buying high dollar items from eBay is not a good idea. Even Breitling warns about not buying their watches from eBay. I'm betting Rolex feels the same way.

Yeah I'll admit I was a bit nervous paying $200+ for an item through eBay, but there is protection if you use PayPal, and eBay will refund you up to $200 and you only have to pay a $25 fee to them for refunding you. I've been through at least one eBay nightmare, and so far I'm not too dissatisfied with the site.

Yes, eBay can't be pretty tricky. I wouldn't recommend new users to buy something expensive off eBay. Personally, I wouldn't trust PayPal(eBay company) either. So much for their "protection". If you'd actually received the item, even if the item is crap, PayPal will not help you. I got so much runaround from this company before, I'll never trust them again. Now, I pay with credit cards. Credit Cards' protections are real. 👍

By paying with a major credit card through PayPal for something you bought off eBay, you actually have three lines of defense. PayPal will reimburse you for an item you don't receive, but it must be within 30 days. The same goes for your credit card company. But eBay will help you out for things like item not as described or something like that, though they don't refund more than $200 and you have to pay a $25 fee to process it. And it takes a long, long, long, long time. I was stiffed on an item in December and am still waiting for my refund through eBay. But me and a few other people got the seller permanently kicked off PayPal, and then their eBay account was terminated. They weren't a small-time seller either. They were a "Power Seller" with something like 4,000 feedback ratings. But in the last month of their operation, they had two negative feedbacks for every one positive, so they buried themselves. Somehow that was more satisfying than monetary compensation, because this was the stupidest, rudest, meanest, most conniving person I have ever done business with, online or off.
