My Commodore has an Alloytec. I dont like it, bit slow. it is only a 175 kw (234hp) 320nm.

That's because
a) It's a low output economy and towing version with zero sporting intentions at all
b) You have a 4spd auto which is just silly
c) It's in a heavier modern sedan

This engine has huge potential, and can be very fast. With a 6spd manual and high output version it's also quick in stock form.;)

Edit: Sorry I've just changed my mind, a turbo charged S2000 engine in an Elise. with that 7 speed box from the Amuse S2K
 
Vtec+ turbo = double the lag, and still no low end/midrange power. :lol: Supercharge it instead..

The whole point of V-Tec is to have a less agressive cam for low end power and to switch to a more agressive cam for extra top end.:odd: If they have no low end, it's for a lack of displacement, not because of V-Tec which is actually making it better.;)

No, it has no low end torque because VTEC is a compromise. They didn't want the car to have lumpy idle and bad fuel economy at low rpm due the high lift cams, thus, they came up with this after it was banned in F1.

But it doesn't have high lift cams at low rpm. Therefore its low down power should be half decent still, and only lacks because of displacement.

Anyway, personally I don't think engine swaps are all that great. I've been pulling all kinds of shenanigans on PC racers for some time, and apart from occasionally pulling a car up a class or two (it doesn't happen that often, because then you have to work on the handling a lot to keep it sorta balanced), the novelty wears off pretty quick. Sure a 10,000hp Elise sounds good, but it's pretty-much un-drivable. Heck, most cars can't take more than 800hp before they're more trouble than they're worth.

Of course that's not to say that all engine swaps suck. A Jag V12 (from a Lister race car if I remember correctly) into a Nissan 350Z race car works wonders, as does bumping the power of most coupes (HSV GTS, Jag XK, 911, etc) to around 550. And you can get your land-barges to hustle when you effectively put a nice smooth 650hp engine in them.

And if GT continues it's tradition of lulzy small cars, then you could have some fun with a beetle that can actually increase speed up the nurburgring in third, and all those great little japanese cars with enough poke to exploit the low weight and decent brakes and tyres.
 
I think what Nibbers was getting at, is that some posts in this thread are just plain stupid. Keep it sensible or get it locked.

Oh yeah, because 4 of those small plasic ones off the child cart are totally sufficient in supporting a multi tonne Jet engine. :lol:

That said, it is something I'd do on LittleBigPlanet.

That guy has real taste, that's why! The 427 engine in the Cobra was a legend and a beast, as was the Mustang.

Ok let's be realistic, I'm still laughing at my post though. :lol: Anyway I'll probably put a Ferrari 360 engine on a RX7 or maybe a Gallardo V10 engine on a Supra. That's pure awesome car just like the Top Secret V12 Supra.
