Jav
Happy new years guys!! May the new year bring lots of iR and SR to you all!!

Right on, happy new year fellas

Looking forward to running more races with you guys and the GT and Mustang series!

Jav, (or anyone else who cares to chime in) whats a good time to be hitting on Laguna in a fixed setup C6-R? I did a 1:20.753 in practice, not sure where I stand as far as pace, etc goes.

I check last season's times. That tends to work for me in Jetta.

Damn!! That's a tough one, I always skip Laguna...

What is it with you and Laguna? lol
You just hate it don't you, regardless of the car or sim you're using.
It's one of my favorites.

May the force feedback be with you.

Lol!! I don't know... Guess I just abbused that track on my GT3/GT4 days enough to make me hate it.
But my reason on this particular series is that it will almost always become a wreck fest with all the HPD loonies crashing their way trough the GT traffic. I also skipped Zolder wich also exagerates the problem.

Laguna Seca always feels strange to me on various different games. When I went and did the Skip Barber Scholarship Shootout 2 years ago, I was really afraid of driving it. I had never really been great on video games at Laguna, nor had I found it fun to drive. Luckily the track is loads of fun in real life lol.

Happy New Year everyone! I know I'm about 21 hours late but, went and partied a bit too hard last night and just now surfaced lol.

The world record time is 1:16.323

Just go look under stats then world records and you can look up any car on any track to see what the fastest times are.

Yeah, I just read that, oh well, what a waste of money then, I just ran another Carb Cup race, they decided on the pace lap who was going to win, thats kind of a waste to me, but oh well, it's only car and track money, maybe if I kiss the right asses and suck up to the right guys I can win one someday too :D

Actually, I dont really care about winning, but if I cant get SR from it, and I cant ever drive well enough to finish in the top 10 or 5 unless the other drivers decide you can, then it's a complete farce.

Can anyone tell me what other series dont have SR so I can avoid them too?

Just look at the series homepage before you race and it will tell you everything about that series, and then you can see if SR and iRating is being used.

There's races without SR being affected / counted? I didn't know that.
Is it just for ovals or is it also for road - and are the races clean?

Normally any series that has the word "FUN" in it doesn't count for SR or IR, but that's not always the case.

Right now I can think of two series that don't count SR/iR:

Carburetor Cup - A-Class NASCAR
24 Heures Du Fun - McLaren MP4-12C, track changes every 24hrs.

The 24 Heures Du Fun series isn't always there, it's normally used when a new car or track is released mid-season.

👍 thanks, I don't think I've ever run a 'fun' race / series. Are they good races or does the lack of SR tracking lead to sketchy driving?

I think it just is the nature of the track... The low speed corners, elevation changes and camber changes don't go well with the lack of grip on those conditions inherent to almost every sim out there...

It's fun trying to make it more that 1 lap without being taken out :sly:

I'm running some street stock today. Trying to get out of Rookie on the Oval side. Is it just me, or are there more morons on the oval side than the road side? :)

That's what I figured
I'll have to try one some day and see how it works out :nervous:

Not sure, but rookie oval series are.... tough to love. I found that Charlotte is the better track for getting out of rookie - more room to dodge the loonies.
If you are just looking to get out of rookie fast with bigger sr boosts, starting from the pits can be very helpful. I lost track of how many SR incidents I have received from drivers rear ending me on the formation lap 👎

In the street stock, yes. Ovals in general, no.

What D-licence series have good participation?

Grand Touring Cup; it's also inexpensive (no need to purchase anything.) Just don't race at odd hours, and wait 'til the weekends. Oh, and make sure to avoid the black Jetta I'm driving. (Or, it might look like a flame gradient with stars, if you download my paint)

But the Jetta costs money...

I'm just saying that it's fun, I'm not saying it doesn't cost money. I'm saying that the GTC has a bit for everyone. I like cars that understeer more than oversteer, the Jetta does me well. The Solstice and MX-5 are cars with different handling characteristics... In the end, for Class D drivers, I am just finding reasons to explain my enjoyment of GTC. I'm Class C, since GTC, but still go back.
