Are the Seasonals the only reason some play GT?

I mean if they stopped coming ( which is possible they don't have to provide them ). Would sone of you jack it all in?

Nope! No seasonals I just keep on driving! Msybe there should be a poll!

You have ever right you wish, except this is a private site and I'm glad moderators seem to be cracking down on the constant complaints as they serve no purpose.

Thus like others have said, do something productive and trade it in for another game.

Go have some Premium for a beautiful answer!.. Let us know how you like it, and more may follow 👍

Honestly? My answer is very close to "yes". I do B-Spec grinding while I am doing other things or while I'm sleeping. I'm done with A-Spec (no desire or intent to do the endurance races). And I've only got I believe 3 Special Events left to do. Once those are done, I have what, online and photo mode left? Online has been more annoying than anything in the handful of races I've done, and photo mode hasn't captivated me as much as I thought.

Maybe photo mode will engage me a bit more when I feel like I'm not grinding as much to get the cars and colors I have in mind, but I'll just have to see about that. I can honestly say my desire to come home from work and play the game has significantly waned without the Seasonal Events for this week. I am quickly seeing more Tetris in my future.

Anyone downloaded any of the tv programs available? I only just discovered GT TV and thought it was just like the replay theatre in GT PSP. But Ive had a quick look and its got me curious!

I will try to be as objective as possible. GT5 is a great game for many things, like the unmatched physics it has to offer, which in the end is the most important aspect of a racing game.

On the other side, GT5 really needs much more events (either seasonal events or added races via patch, an event editor, etc.) Online racing for many people is not fun, you have to beg for some people to let you in a lobby or go through the hassle of creating one. Then you may not want to race with guys that play the game either too seriously or too stupidly crashing around, etc.

Also, I could be considered a hardcore player, I'm A-Spec 38 B-Spec 40. I have been like that for almost a month. Not even me (and trust me I do play intensely) find much incentives to keep on the grinding at this point in the game, which required amazing amounts of grinding already.

Please PD, give us way more races! Even though I doubt you will.

In the end, a lot of copies of GT5 have already been sold, and that is the only thing that matters for them.

I've watched everything they post, typically it's a video every 2-3 weeks, sometimes a series of videos, like the Nurburgring with Kaz etc.

I think the people complaining are in the minority, they just happen to be a very vocal minority cause they play the most. I play often, yet still have some licenses and special challenges to beat. There's a lot in GT5, so it takes a couple weeks of solid play to gold everything and most of us don't have that kinda time. I was having a hard time keeping up with the seasonal events if I didn't just max out my car and smoke them first try.

Some people are done everything and want more. These people will always complain, whether it is GT5, COD, ... they just play a lot and expect more replay ability. A game like COD keeps these types happier for longer cause online play is challenging, it is a lot easier to separate the good players from the bad. Racing is more difficult online, as bad racers can run you of the road, or drive backwards.

I think that's why many of us are asking for more seasonal races and more restrictions - cause we like racing "good" opponents, which can be difficult to find online.

If you haven't yet, check out the first season of GT Academy. It's only 4 episodes, free, and it's great fun.

Honestly, I've been checking into GTP daily to get the latest news on the seasonals and the whole GT Academy debacle and I am amazed at some of the posts here. I will refrain from getting sucked into the black hole of petty griping and immature whining that is rampant here, though.

How about coming up with some more productive and positive ways of passing the time instead of just spewing manure all over this forum? The fact is I don't think we'd be seeing as much whinging (thanks to the Aussies for the new word!) if people didn't actually love GT5, or at least it's possibilities.

Therefore I challenge all of you! For the past few days I've kept myself quite busy in GT5 doing other things instead of the seasonals - and I've been quite happy. What other ways can you play GT5? Here's a starter list from me. Feel free to add any ideas.

1. Race online
2. Car maintenance, paint-jobs, wheel changes
3. Collect more cars
4. Complete RM list
5. Use photomode
6. Check out GTTV
7. Create a course (or 2 or 3 or 4), [Better yet, create a rally course and practice rallying with the new OCD cars]
8. Gold all licences & special events
9. Join a league
10. Challenge your own laptimes in practice mode

... I want to get to at least level 30 to try out Vettel challenge...

OT

Nooo. Don't do it. If you want to save some dignity, avoid that completely :scared:

You have to be like a chipmunk on jolt cola to keep that thing on track. Tried it a few times on Nur. GP/F track and gave up after a) not being able to get within ~10s of target lap time and b) not being able to string two clean laps together. I might try it again if I feel homicidal :yuck:

We had the Nurb with kaz videos before GT5 came out. Have they released anything since?

2月中旬にアップデートされます。RT @rojn8r: @Kaz_Yamauchi when will the next GT5 update be available?

Will be updated in mid-February

I wonder which year that will be?

Valid question.

Oh great so its updated, not just whats on there each time I go in. Im downloading the Racing at the 24 hours of the ring, parts one and 2. I just love car stuff!

Funny thing is, the more people say how terrible it is, the more I want to find it out myself :ouch:

I was thinking about those updates to seasonnal event over the weekend... we just had our update within 1 day of wednesday: GT academy round to track change!
it's not a bonus race, but it's still an update to seasonnal event (even though it's one I don't participate in)
I suppose 2 days from now we'll get new races, and one week later, some other random update...

I had a look at what was available, some interesting free stuff (and obligatory GT5 trailers) but also some content you have to pay for, seemed like an independent provider or two on there, which i felt kinda meh about. In the UK anyway.

I havent even really played the game since they havent updated the seasonal events
and i barely did the seasonal events after i reached lvl 30
I got all the premium cars i want i havent had the motivation to keep playing the game as much

I just think they should add more content overall
cars and races because i honestly think i spent more time on gt5p

they can add alot of new content to this with additions to whats already on the game
instead of adding completely new content that could be in gt6

Because I'm feeling really bored right now, I'll answer to these instead of going on GT5:
  1. Rewards are dismal
  2. How does this keep you interested for more than 20-30 seconds when you're giving your car an oil change?
  3. I concede this point, but I can't understand anyone trying to collect the horrible standard cars
  4. There are only 15 of them, and they're not pricey at all if you have any cash from prior Seasonals.
  5. I concede this point. This is all I do now.
  6. You have to buy most of the episodes with something called money. I don't know how comfortable I feel spending that much.
  7. Course creator can only make mundane and useless tracks, nothing even remotely as pretty or fun as Eiger or Suzuka East.
  8. I concede this point. Aggravating, but time consuming.
  9. What is this? I've never heard of this.
  10. I concede this, but you can really only do this for so long until it's excruciating. Look at the GT Academy people.

Well, if you guys look at the NEWS section on GT5, they just updated saying they are changing tracks for the ACADEMY once again cause us americans can't race clean. I guess you can thank the boys in the GT ACADEMY for making PD work more on that and not the events. Just some food for thought.

That is my line of thinking too!

  1. What is this? I've never heard of this.

A racing league is where you get a group of PSN friends together and hold racing events. You race each other in your private lounge/lobbies and set up specific conditions. It's like online racing in the general rooms, but since you are friends (or more likely you are members of a racing league website) you will race clean and not just smash each other off the track.

It is very rewarding and offers a whole new dimension to the game because you have a real challenge, not horrible AI competitors.

Try to find one that is in your geographic area because then ping times will be short and the races will smooth (not laggy / choppy).

Hey Aus_Azn, I agree with your points too and included some clarifying notes but really I was just trying to nudge this ridiculous thread towards more positive and productive posts (ie: what can you still do in GT5 instead of just griping on the forum)

1. I don't race online for credits or XP - I race online to race actual people, not AI
2. I actually spent a whole day going through my garage and doing maintenance, painting, and wheel changes. Boring, maybe, but if you're in the mood...
3. I don't really actively collect the standard cars but am in the process of collecting at least two each of my favourite premiums - one stock and one modded up the wazoo!
4. I have all 15 RMs now but am still playing with tuning, testing, paint jobs, etc.
5. --
6. I haven't spent any money in GTTV. I've watched all the free stuff and the first season of GT Academy (4 episodes for free) is probably the best stuff on there.
7. I have to admit I've had a lot of fun with the course creator. I know it's not everyone's bag. I did however create a jump track that I love driving when I'm feeling a little more extreme!
8. Excruciating I know, but I'm still working at it and I enjoy the challenge... when I'm in the mood!
9. This goes with the online racing, especially if you don't want to end up in a room full of yahoos driving backwards. There are some good online racing leagues starting up out there like WSCC.
10. I put this in because it's a feature I hadn't touched until last thursday when I realised the S.E.#7 weren't coming. Now I'm taking all my favourite cars out on the Nordshchliefe and tracking best times. Again, it's a matter of taste, I suppose!

I'm so sorry if I offended you, it was unintentional.

I do the same with 3, I have one car "superstocked" (i.e. no engine stages, no exhaust pipe mod, original aspiration form) and one fully tuned.

I'm curious with 7, how do you set this up? I always wanted to do that but CC was never generous enough to give it to me!

For 10, my test track instead is Tokyo R246. Just enough precision needed in the middle to late track, enough demonstration of power in the straights at the start and in the early, and how well it can hold it during the pseudo-oval turn 3. I was waiting for level 30 to be able to do the seasonal this week and hopefully earn the X2010, but nothing has come close on this LB to the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP.

Funnily enough, now I've hit the enduro races on a-spec (how I'm going to find time to do them I don't know) and had no seasonals, have actually been doing the special events! And started trading cars too :D
