Change your driving style people, this is not a Nissan. Lift-Off oversteer is NOT an option here, in some turns you don't even need to turn the wheel, just decelerate a bit.

Everybody
What would you have if you had 200,000
1. Ferrari 512BB
2. Lancia Stratos
3. Ford GT
4. Cheap Japanese car to tune
5. Aston Martin DB9

Huh

I agree with this.👍 Sounds like a good drift car too.;)

1. Lancia Stratos <--- Rallying Legend, one for the skillful, rather good looking, not to be driven by the lead footed/fingered

2. Ford GT <--oversteering pig (though I love it)

3. Ferrari 512BB <---slithering excuse of a prancing horse (Sorry to any of its fans!! :ouch:)

4. Cheap Japanese car to tune <--- *coughcoughricercoughcough*

5. Aston Martin DB9 <---too slow, even when modified

That's how I rank these cars. The Stratos is the one I'd have as it's more than a car. It's like a lesson in driving. It teaches you stuff like throttle control that your 600hp GTR just won't. You mess up in this, you die. No 4WD aids. And that's why I like it. :)

The stratos is 187,000 dollars and i bought it like half price and still exspensive unlike the ford GT just put a wing on it then keep adjusting the downforce and its perfect
(coughcoughbetterthanthestratoscoughcough)

What a horrible exspensive car that cant handle at all

Well what you would except if it weigh under 900 KG and has over 100 horsepower and no spoiler...

And to your quiz, most of the people would in my opinion take Stratos, it's the only legend there. And to be honest, you are nuts, if you can't appreciate old rally car, without tracition control and abs, because that time there was none of them. And what more difficult a rally car is to drive, more fun it is.

Edit:

I see that you can't appreciate old cars, when you tuned your Ford GT, of course it is better, but it's 30 years younger than the Stratos, ye idiot.

I like the Stratos because of its value and stuff though. Fun car to drift too.

Hey i love muscle cars from the 70's

:D thing is, if you're hating on the stratos, the large majority of the time, it's the driver's fault. And uMadson, leave the R33 out of this…I'll beat you next time :trouble:

God, I love that car. Much better than driving a skyline on rails.

Stratos vs. Stratos?

I don't like how the car handles either (the racing version untuned and unchanged in any way) but I know it's an icon and of very high value today, as well as being made for rallying, not regular racing on tracks.

And yeah, I didn't change the settings because I'm not that much into the stratos, so I'm not gonna spend time tuning it. Some car enthusiasts (at least that's how they want to be seen) need to learn that some people just don't like certain cars and the driving styles they require.
I like this car in real life, that's why I bought it in the game, but I don't like how it handles on a race track in the game. Lots of better cars for that, that are much cheaper - can't argue with that.

To Tame a Stratos
Do 1 of these steps, or more if necessary:

1. Add ballast to front end until Weight Dist. is 50/50

2. Use Racing Soft tyres+GTAuto Wing

3. Use SFR

4.Browse around here once you have 250,000cr+cost of car*

*I say this because if you fully mod the car, estimated cost is about ~250,000 to 280,000 in tuning parts. It's more if the Aero parts cost alot.

Racing softs don't work for half of what I use the stratos for.

Or alternatively, forget the ballast, forget the Racing Softs, forget the SRF too and calibrate your right foot. Then try the Stratos Stradale by MFT and be blown away by the performance this classic is capable of. Faster than a fully tuned NC MX-5, faster than a fully tuned (no wing though) Peugeot 205 T16, nearly on a par with a fully tuned Ford RS200 and that one was the most technologically advanced Group B homologation car ever. The Stratos is a tricky beast but it's fully drivable if the driver is up to the task. It's just that not everybody is.

Starting threads about how much x car sucks really achieves nothing more than effectively saying 'I don't know how to drive this kind of car'. The Stratos may be more deceiving than other MRs because not only is it a super light car with a short wheelbase, it also has a surprisingly heavy engine which is mounted high off the floor, so when you lift off the accelerator you have very little grip on the rear axle and the car just wants to spin around the engine, as it's the heaviest part (dubious knowledge of physics there).

Combine that with tyre technology of the time and the fact it was designed to be unstable so it can change direction faster (same idea behind the Eurofighter; so unstable it would be impossible to fly without computer assistance, but is unbelievably agile), and you have a seriously challenging car to drive, especially when you can't work out why it's so wayward. The Elise, by comparison, is a grip machine (and generally is anyway as long as you're on sensible tyres).

Keep at it, the trick is not the brake pedal, it's the accelerator.

Wrong. It handles beautifully when tuned properly. Go to Praiano's Garage & get the setup: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=201649

Tune your car, take it for a spin & then come back & apologise... ;)

My challenge is to (first at least Finish safely!) Come in at least 3rd, wondering if 1st is even possible, in the Expert A-Spec Gran Turismo All Stars race on the Nurburgring track with the awesomely tuned car. I can reach 3rd place at the 1st split time, and hold it there in the pack, but I often lose it in the 2nd half of the race. No room for error.

Good old wall o' text, works everytime (when it's written by you).
Made a point, proven it too.

Ford GT without a doubt, but for 200K you could buy a ZR1/Z06 or a GTR/GTR Spec V and tune them if you wanted..

I HATE YOU, but seriously how can you say that, put a racing exhaust on it and it sounds amazing as well!

Thats a wierd comment

give it an F1 toe setting -50F +50R and the car gets on rails, personal fav of mine

I am gona try this and if it works everybody better thank you

This reminds me of my 'hater gonna hate' review of the S2K GT1 Turbo. Except

1) This is one line rather than several
2) OP is actually willing to make it better
3) Everyone's giving advice as a result if that

And I've found one person who I got into an argument with it over it and it wasn't even in my review thread :dunce:
