I get it, but imo, it makes sense to just put most of their motorsports into HRC, especially if the rumors of Honda joining the WEC come to fruition. Another thing is that if the GR GT/GT3 comes to GT7 (depending on how long Forza has it exclusive if any exclusivity), then that would potentially eliminate Toyota and Lexus and would likely merge them onto the GR brand, but who knows. I still wouldn't be against Acura as a whole to be included in GT7, especially with the ARX-06 (and maybe some of their older race cars like the ARX-02 and ARX-03), but we'll have to wait and see.
I disagree on the basis that it was specifically developed by Honda's North American racing division, HPD. Now, technically, HPD was merged with the grander HRC racing arm of Honda (and renamed HRC North America), but, as the name implies, they still focus on their North American racing projects like off-road, Indycar, and IMSA.
I remember reading way back when (years ago at this point) that part of the reason Honda "merged" HPD with HRC was so that they could compete in WEC with the ARX. And until I see a Honda ARX (or HRX?) on a European race track, I still have my doubts whether the ARX will ever be branded as a "Honda."
I personally don't see it happening under an "official" banner; the rumors stipulate that it's a privateer (Inter Europool) that would be fielding these ARXes, not Honda themselves. So, if the ARX was added, I would expect it to be under Acura, and, as mentioned earlier, it would open the door to Acura's line of exclusive cars like the new Integra (and TLX, I guess, since Gran Turismo curiously featured the CL Type-S (in both '01 and '03 flavors, no less!)). Honda sells an NSX Type-S over in Japan, so that wouldn't be an issue. I don't think adding a brand is a problem for PD since they've done it for like, five manufacturers over GT7's lifespan already.
Besides, if the NISMO GT-R LM is under the Nissan badge and not the Nismo badge, I think that ship has sailed
