Manual-Only drivers post here

rovens
I didn't mention any muscle cars. Im from the UK, but dont a lot of American cars have a auto box instead of a stickshift.

Here is an example of a car with auto only options.

http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/con...rs/cls-class_coupe/technical_data/models.html

Can i just point out that im not trying to say that i know more than you, i have no mechanical experience. Im just trying to back up waht i meant earlier about auto only cars.

Famin, made the mention of the Muscle cars and is where Im looking for examples from.

However, since you Bring up the CSL-350, Ill also mention I stated IN THE GAME. The reason I say this is BMW & Merc have been developing transmitions that use all the dynamics of a manual BUT have the computer doing all the work The CSL-350 for example. However of the 2 Im more impressed with what BMW has been doing. They call it "Steptronic Automatic"

However this is Still Manual physics with computer control.

What about the CVTs like the Jazz/Fit etc? They're sort of kind of automatics.

Id like some examples of the cars that dont have a manual option

Just to trawl through Gran Turismo's model history for a moment:

Subaru SVX (GT2)
Mazda FD RX-7 Touring X (GT2)
Chevrolet Corvette C1 1954 (GT4) - didn't get a 3 speed manual until 1955.

That's all off the top of my head - if I wasn't sloshed and was actually bothered I might search for more. But nevertheless, these three cars have appeared in the Gran Turismo series as automatic-only cars.

That said, one can select which gear you want to be in on an automatic gearbox at any point, but most people tend to leave it in "D".

i was just about the bring that up. the honda fit in the game uses a cvt tranny. a terrible thing for racing but most fits are built to be driven on the narrow streets of tokyo and not raced. only a few die hards like me would actually race one given a chance. i'm glad its in the game. its a perfect example of a car not widly availible with a manual.

Hardy har har, thats Funny, Ive yet to drive what you say apeared in the GT series as "Automatics only" They use manual is the game. Even though they may be only auto in real life, with the exeption of the 54 Vette.

And the 54 Vette DID HAVE THe Powerglide Manual transmition as a OPTION, But none were purchased with it.

It was $178 extra at the time.

As for the CSL, I also previously explained what Mercs been doing with there new tech trannies, but forget that. Of-course there are Some luxury cars with no manual as a option, as they are Luxury cars. Mercs being High end, especially the CSL class, If I were to buy a car for that much, I better not have to shift. While there are Few of the Sport Luxury class in the game, and fewer with only auto as a option, the implimentation of a new transimtion dynamics to acomodate it (the few that are) is over kill for no real benifit at all.

I know, my mum has one. The 1.2 litre is only available* with a manual. The normal 1.4 has a manual too. The 1.4 sport has a CVT transmission that has 7 predefined gears that you can use buttons on the wheel to select.

Work on the reading comprehension, and you might find your misunderstandings become fewer - you've already leapt on rovens for your own misunderstandings.

The three cars I named are all automatic-only cars (and Corvette History, and this fansite, and this fansite say there was no manual 'box offered until 1955 - besides which, what on Earth would the point of a 2-speed manual be?). They have all appeared in the Gran Turismo series. So, as automatic-only cars they have appeared in the Gran Turismo series. It's not tough.

So, I've found you three cars, off the top of my head, which have no manual option in the real world yet can be driven as manual in Gran Turismo.

Discuss.

They use manual is the game.

Depends which you pick, surely?

"Powerglide" was a Option in 54 http://www.rogerscorvette.com/specs/54.htm

LIKE I SAID, it was a option, although nobody paid the $178 extra to get it.

So agreed there was none sold as manual. but the option was always there.

And I didnt misunderstand

"these three cars have appeared in the Gran Turismo series as automatic-only cars"

WTF does that mean????????????????????????

Are you saying these car in stock form are only auto in the game?

Ill check, but if so then the game is already doing what they are wishing for to some extent  If thats Not what your saying   WTF are you saying? :) Hardy Har, they dont do it, its Manual in the game (Well it was always a option with the Powerglide system) I wont check the GT2 or GT1 cars as it pointless and certain they dont take it into account.

Because "these three cars have appeared in the Gran Turismo series as automatic-only cars" isnt hard to follow

What he means is that they use manual in the game, but there is no manual option in real life, which was my point all along.

I know what he MENT, but thats irelevant as that NOT what he said, then he gets smart mouthed that I misunderstood & took what he said for....... what he said, and not what I know he ment (Sarcazm doesnt come out as easy online  )

That's exactly what he said.

Here it is again

It might be an idea to read posts thoroughly and to think very carefully before you respond in future. 💡

As yes he did say that But he STILL followed up with

"these three cars have appeared in the Gran Turismo series as automatic-only cars"

Sometimes its better to practice what your preaching.

So all youve pointed out is his post contradicts itself. Things like this make for easy misunderstandings, at the fault of the writer, and NOT the reader. 💡

lol  ;) :D

he ment these three cars are auto only is in real life, they only had auto trannys. no manual option. its pretty simple.

daan
You're quoting Famine, yet he didn't say that.

He didnt ??????????Are you sure?????????? (His one post contradicts his other)

And your telling me to fully read post?????? Sometimes its better to practice what your preaching.

It dont matter, Auto is lame. GT4 is a Driving simulator, Automatic, is not driving, its something invented so the average house wife could get groceries without f-ing up the transmition.

The Mercedes McLaren SLR is an auto only car I think as well. Theres been a few auto only cars over the years. Regardless of how the auto works, it's still an auto.

Also I think you may find yourself out of your depth in this debate, many have tried and the closest anyones got to beating Famine is when something is personal opinion where everyone wins.

you seriously need to stop saying auto is for house wifes only. thats getting pretty annoying. we get that point as sexest as it is already.

TeamQuick

OK, so you went back to his previous post, but he's not contradicting himself.

If people read back, they will see Ive long time acknowledged the fact there have been a few "Auto Only" cars over the years, He was wrong with one of the 3 he quoted, so what the other 2 are probably auto only in the real world...BFD! I explained previously why I dont think it will be done in the neer future, as there are so many more important things to focus on (Thank GoD PD's head isnt up its But) So on that Note, there Is no Win/Loss.

On his contradicting himself from one post to another (most likey just typoed it or wasnt meaning exactly what he typed, that again is irrelevant as What he wrote was clear cut. All this "He ment this, he ment that, DONT MATTER, I know what he ment, but its NOT what he said.

So  Your "I think you may find yourself out of your depth in this debate, many have tried and the closest anyones got to beating Famine is when something is personal opinion where everyone wins."

Is ALSO Irrelevant, as I havnt disagreed with Famin beyond the fact the 54 had a 2 speed powerglide option even if they were nerver sold with it. That is proven through the link already, and not really relevant as Who cares!!!!

I was being sarcastic taking his words literally, the Joke is Both Famin, and Daan, got lippy (as they may be taking my post a little agressive, I dont intend to be, and my calm demeener and tone are not relayed well on-line, neither is my sarcasm from time to time.) Telling me I have issues misunderstanding things, and misreading things, when it was Famin who mistyped and contradicted himself from one post to another, and Daan for telling me he didnt say what I quoted he said, when he did, I re-quoted him and underligned it.

 :sly: :D

Don't get me wrong I'm not having a go at you here, you did seem a little serious but if it was mean't sarcastically then theres nothing more to say about it now you've made that clear. :).

daan
OK, so you went back to his previous post, but he's not contradicting himself.

Sooo, your saying, that hes not saying these three cars have appeared in the Gran Turismo series as automatic-only cars?

Are you saying that "these three cars have appeared in the Gran Turismo series as automatic-only cars" Doesnt mean these 3 cars apeared in the game as automatic-only cars?

OMG, this is GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now you're being a bit daft, since you actually know what he meant, since everyone actually knows what he meant we can all safely say he didn't contradict himself. Instead of carrying on about it, why not reply directly to him and wait for his answer or send him a pm. Going on like this will not gain you any credibility when even you have said you know what he meant.

ok i'll explain this. Famine himself said he was drunk. what he ment was these cars in real life only came as an automatic. these cars were also in the game. due to the fact that the auto/manual option is under the game options and not under the car options they could be driven as a manual. that doesnt change that fact that in real life they were auto only. what it does mean is that game was unrealistic.

now, you've said you understand this before... i dont know if you really do, but if you do, why do you keep arguing?

THE ED3
talk about Irrelevant...

Go look up relevant & irrelevant!

This is ABSOLUTLY RELEVANT!

If he wrote one thing, but ment another, then gets rude about it being misunderstood. The Fact He wrote something diferent from what he ment in this senerio defines RELEVANCE!!!!!!

Dude!!!!!!!!!!

This is retarded!!!!!!!

The fact is he and Daan are getting on my case about my misunderstanding, when it was his not writing what he ment but something diferent altogether, is MY POINT.

Get off My ass about what he ment AS I KNOW, AND WAS BEING SARCASTIC!!!! & laughing at the fact he was getting rude to me about his own mistake. lololololol and Now, its "He was Drunk" lolololololololololol This is GREAT!

And Get off my ass about my need to read before I post as I read it and HE NEEDS TO PROOF READ WHAT HE WRITES BEFORE HE POST!!!!!!!

And Get off my ass about moving on, as its all of you who feel the need to enlighten me on what he ment (Good keen grasp of the obvious you guys got there) and Daan went on about me needing to read before I post going on about he didnt day, that then, oh he did say that but its not a contradiction, like enough. Its like looking at a fish in a boat dying from lack of oxigen as it hops periodically in desperation to get back into watter.

He was Drunk?
