Is it true that cars are 90% fiberglass these days. I ask because I read about Jaguar melting in London

Edit changed the title of the thread to make it useful. Cars use variety of materials. April 1 is over

Did the usage of fiberglass in modern cars increase? Yes. Are the cars "90% fiberglass"? Not by any stretch. *I mean come on, they are obviously made out of Mercury

Now everyone has got the jokes out of the way...

...no.

The "Jaguar that melted" in London did in fact just end up with a few damaged parts when sunlight was concentrated by the curved glass of the "walkie talkie" skyscraper. The parts that melted were regular plastic.

Cars are still mostly a mixture of steel, iron, aluminium, glass, rubber, plastic and other common materials. Some cars, like TVRs, Lotuses and a few other low-volume vehicles feature fibreglass bodies over an aluminium tub, steel spaceframe, steel ladder chassis or similar. A handful of production cars are largely aluminium. Some use CFRP (carbonfibre reinforced plastic) with plastic, alloy or steel panels.
